The wind industry grew in the first decade of the 21st century at rates consistently above 20% a year. For wind turbine, gearbox failure can be extremely costly in terms of repair costs, replacement parts, and in lost power production due to downtime. In this paper, gear tooth micro-modification for the high speed stage was used to compensate for the deformation of the teeth due to load and to ensure a proper meshing to achieve an optimized tooth contact pattern. The gearbox was firstly modeled in a software, and then the various combined tooth modification were presented, and the prediction of transmission under the loaded torque for the helical gear pair was investigated, the normal load distribution and root stress were also obtained and compared before and after tooth modification under one torque. The simulation results showed that the transmission error and normal load distribution under the load can be minimized by the appropriate tooth modification. It is a good approach where the simulated result is used to improve the design before the prototype is available for the test.

The performance characteristics of magnetic fluid seals are studied numerically as a function of working gap, pole width, angle of pole sharpening, and shaft speed. The temperature distribution of a magnetic fluid seal with multiple tooth is investigated as a function of the contact fraction of magnetic fluids at the periphery of pole tooth using a finite element method. The most significant design parameter of a magnetic fluid seal is the working gap between the pole pieces and the rotating shaft. The result shows that with increasing the working gap, the friction torque decreases radically. The practical working gap for the pole pieces with triangular tooth zone profile is 0.2-0.4mm. The FEM results indicate that the optimal filling of a magnetic fluid between the pole pieces and the shaft is very important due to the accumulations of nonuniform friction heating within the pole pieces, which may interfere the magnetic circuit flow.

In recent years, world is faced with a transportation energy dilemma, and the transportation is dependent on a single fuel - petroleum. However, Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) technology holds more advantages to reduce the demand for petroleum in the transportation by efficiency improvements of petroleum consumption. Therefore, there is a trend that lower gear noise levels are demanded in HEV for drivers to avoid annoyance and fatigue during operation. And meshing transmission error(T.E.) is the excitation that leads to the tonal noise known as gear whine, and radiated gear whine is also the dominant source of noise in the whole gearbox. This paper presents a method for the analysis of gear tooth profile and lead modification, and the predictions of transmission error and load distribution are shown under one loaded torque for the 1st gear pair of HEV gearbox. The test is also obtained before tooth micro-modification under the torque. At last, the appropriate tooth modification is used to minimize the transmission error and load distribution under the loaded torque. It is a good approach which the simulated result is used to improve the design in order to minimize the radiation gear whine noise.

Autotransplantation is the surgical repositioning of an autogenous erupted or unerupted tooth from one site to another in the same individual. This treatment is indicated in traumatic tooth loss, teeth with severe caries, congenitally missing teeth, teeth with bad prognosis and in case of developmental anomalies of teeth. The following 2 cases describe the potential to utilize autotransplantation to replace hopeless teeth with sound wisdom teeth.
Closed-die forging of the spur gears with circular are fillet has been analyses by using the upper-bound method. A kinematically admissible velocity field has been developed, wherein, the tooth profile consists of the involute curve and the circular arc fillet. In the analysis, the deformation regions have been divided into eight zones. A constant frictional stress has been assumed on the contacting surfaces Utilizing the formulated velocity field, numerical calculations have been carried out to investigate the effects of various parameters, such as module, number of teeth, addendum modification coefficient and friction factor, on the relative forging pressure of spur gears. As the result of numerical calculations, the relative forging pressure does not change so much against the variation of module. On the other hand, the relative forging pressure increases at the final filling stage as the addendum modification coefficient increases.

When designing a gear, designers determine basic dimensions of a gear with transmitted power considering strength, interference and so on. But, designers can not easily obtain the tooth profile generated by dimensions as well as the geometry of generating hob for cutting the tooth profile. In order to resolve these problems, an automatic design system creating not only the solid model of a gear but also that of the generating hob using the design parameters of dimensions is developed. Through the developed system, designers system, designers can improve the efficiency of design and satisfy the variable requirements of design as well. In this research, the three-dimensional solid models for spur and helical gears are generated considering the design parameters. Besides, those for generating hob regarding the design parameters of hob is created automatically. The system is developed by using Visual Basic and its three-dimensional geometric modeling module is constructed by using SolidWorks.

This study deals with the TE (Transmission Error) of gear tooth by modifying a profile and lead of a surface of tooth. First, we experimentally confirmed that the TE is a synthesis of the sliding velocity between both gears. Since various types of TE appear in the experiments, we introduced definition of transmission error and the optimism design by modifying a surface parameters. The test stand's performance is then evaluated through a series of multiple torque transmission error tests. Comparisons are made between data recorded before and after the test stand's redesign, and subsequently repeatability studies are performed to verify the veracity of the measured data. Finally, the experimental results are compared to the analytical predictions of two different gear analysis programs.

This study deals with the effect of the honing in SCM420H planetary gears. The hardness, tooth profile, lead and roughness of the gear surface can be improved by honing. Therein, the honing techniques are welcomed especially as one of the physical surface improvement methods. As a result, gear honing reduces vibration and noise, and will increase the life of gear. And gear honing also changes the surface of gear tooth in a short time and price, so it is a very important method in manufacturing industry. But nowadays, it is hard to find the detail information of gear honing. The test gear is a planetary gear which is used in the automotive industry. It is manufactured by the hobbing, shaving, carburizing and honing. This study investigates the effect of honing in surface shape of SCM420H planetary gears, including fatigue strength test and characteristics of honing of SCM420H planetary gears.

PURPOSE. Accurate information is essential in dentistry. The image information of missing teeth is used in optically based medical equipment in prosthodontic treatment. To evaluate oral scanners, the standardized model was examined from cases of image recognition errors of linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and a model that combines the variables with reference to ISO 12836:2015 was designed. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The basic model was fabricated by applying 4 factors to the tooth profile (chamfer, groove, curve, and square) and the bottom surface. Photo-type and video-type scanners were used to analyze 3D images after image capture. The scans were performed several times according to the prescribed sequence to distinguish the model from the one that did not form, and the results confirmed it to be the best. RESULTS. In the case of the initial basic model, a 3D shape could not be obtained by scanning even if several shots were taken. Subsequently, the recognition rate of the image was improved with every variable factor, and the difference depends on the tooth profile and the pattern of the floor surface. CONCLUSION. Based on the recognition error of the LDA, the recognition rate decreases when the model has a similar pattern. Therefore, to obtain the accurate 3D data, the difference of each class needs to be provided when developing a standardized model.

Therein, the grinding techniques are widely used especially as one of the physical surface improvement methods. As the results, the gear grinding process reduced vibration and noise, and increased the life of the gear. And the gear grinding improved the surface of gear tooth in a short time and low cost, thus, it is a very important process in manufacturing industry. But nowadays, it is hard to find the detail information of gear grinding process. The test piece is a planetary gear which is used in the industrial machine. The manufacture process of the test piece contains hobbing, shaving, carburizing and grinding. This study investigated the effect of the grinding process to the physiognomy and the fatigue strength of test piece which was made by SCM420H.
