  • Digital control of robot manipulator employs discrete-time robot models. It is important to explore effective discrete-time robot models and to analyze their properties in control system designs. This paper presents a new type discrete-time robot model. The model is derived by using trapezoid rule to approximate the convolution integral term, then eliminating nonlinear force terms from robot dynamical equations. The new model obtained has very simple structure, and owns the properties of independence to the nonlinear force terms. According to evaluation criteria, three aspects of the model properties: model accuracy, model validity range and model simplicity are examined and compared with commonly used discrete-time robot models. The validity of the proposed model and its advantages to control system designs are verified by simulation results.

  • Time to digital converter is designed. To obtain the digital signal from time information the analog delay element is used. Because the analog delay element shows more stable characteristics compared to the digital delay element in view point of process variation. The designed circuit has temperature stale characteristics when the range of operating temperature is from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$. The circuit is simulated and confirmed by HSPICE.

  • To improve the image quality and lower the power consumption of the mobile applications, it is the one of the best candidate to control the backlight unit of the LCD module with ambient light. Ambient light sensor and readout circuit were integrated in LCD panel for the mobile applications, and we designed them with LTPS TFT. We proposed noble start-up correction in order to correct the variation of the photo sensors in each panel. We used time-to-digital method for converting photo current to digital data. To effectively merge time-to-digital method with start-up correction, we proposed noble dual slope correction method. The entire readout circuit was designed and estimated with LTPS TFT process. The readout circuit has very simple and stable structure and timing, so it is suitable for LTPS TFT process. The readout circuit can correct the variation of the photo sensors without an additional equipment, and it outputs the 4-levels digital data per decade for input luminance that has a dynamic range of 60dB. The readout rate is 100 times/sec, and the linearity error for digital conversion is less than 18%.

  • A Digital Wave Tank simulation technique, based on a finite-difference method and a modified marker-and-cell (MAC) algorithm, is applied in order to investigate the characteristics of nonlinear Tsunami propagations and their interactions with a 2D sloping beach, Ohkushiri Island, and to predict maximum wove run-up around the island. The Navier-Stokes (NS) and continuity equation are governed in the computational domain, and the boundary values are updated at each time step, by a finite-difference time-marching scheme in the frame of the rectangular coordinate system. The fully nonlinear, kinematic, free-surface condition is satisfied by the modified marker-density function technique. The near shore Tsunami is assumed to be a solitary wave, and is generated from the numerical wave-maker in the developed Digital Wave Tank. The simulation results are compared with the experiments and other numerical methods, based on the shallow-water wave theory.

  • Transmission line is exposed to a large area, and then faults are likely to occur than the other component of power system. When a fault occurs on a transmission line, fault locator helps fast recovery of power supply on power system. This paper deals with the design of a digital fault locator for improvement accuracy of the fault distance estimation and a fault occurrence position for transmission line. The algorithm of a fault locator uses a DC offset removal filter and DFT filter. The algorithm utilizes a fault data of GPS time synchronized. The computed fault information is transmitted to the other side substation through communication. The digital fault locator includes MPU module, ADPU module, SIU module, and a power module. The MMI firmware and software of the fault locator was implemented.

  • In recent years, most of the researchers have been working on micro system manufacturing technological environment. With this international trend and one of the key researches in Korea, this paper gives the keynote on manufacturing the micro-scaled part with digital micro factory and its simulation. In order to construct and estimate reconfigurable simulation time, the digital simulation has been performed for the micro factory and for ultra small machines. From simulation result we came to know that micro factory requires less work-in space and processing time to manufacture micro-scaled part with different environment.

  • Design, Simulation and experimental analysis of closed loop time domain based Discrete PWM buck-boost converter are described. To improve the transient response and dynamic stability of the proposed converter, Discrete PID controller is the most preferable one. Discrete controller does not require any precise analytical model of the system to be controlled. The control system of the converter is designed using digital PWM technique. The proposed controller improves the dynamic performance of the buck-boost converter by achieving a robust output voltage against load disturbances, input voltage variations and changes in circuit components. The converter is designed through simulation using MATLAB/Simulink and performance parameters are also measured. The discrete controller is implemented, and design goal is achieved and the same is verified against theoretical calculation using LabVIEW.

  • Objective: To investigate the dimensional accuracy of digital dental models obtained from the dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan of alginate impressions according to the time elapse when the impressions are stored under ambient conditions. Methods: Alginate impressions were obtained from 20 adults using 3 different alginate materials, 2 traditional alginate materials (Alginoplast and Cavex Impressional) and 1 extended-pour alginate material (Cavex ColorChange). The impressions were stored under ambient conditions, and scanned by CBCT immediately after the impressions were taken, and then at 1 hour intervals for 6 hours. After reconstructing three-dimensional digital dental models, the models were measured and the data were analyzed to determine dimensional changes according to the elapsed time. The changes within the measurement error were regarded as clinically acceptable in this study. Results: All measurements showed a decreasing tendency with an increase in the elapsed time after the impressions. Although the extended-pour alginate exhibited a less decreasing tendency than the other 2 materials, there were no statistically significant differences between the materials. Changes above the measurement error occurred between the time points of 3 and 4 hours after the impressions. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that digital dental models can be obtained simply from a CBCT scan of alginate impressions without sending them to a remote laboratory. However, when the impressions are not stored under special conditions, they should be scanned immediately, or at least within 2 to 3 hours after the impressions are taken.

  • The digital electronic switching system has some problems, when this system processes OAM(Operation, Administration And Maintenance) messages about the fault, the traffic, the account, and the performance, etc., at the present. One of these problems is that each the module processing these messages in the digital electronic switching system can not process OAM messages out of another digital electronic switching system. Each the module processing these OAM messages, that is, has been programmed in order to process only the OAM message out of the digital electronic switching system mounting itself, not to process the message out of the digital electronic switching system based on another platform. Therefore, we studied on methods that could process OAM messages out of all digital electronic switching systems and, first of all, developed the MGS(Message Gathering System) to be able to accept and process the fault message of OAM messages out of all digital electronic switching systems in real time.
