  • In this paper, we analyze the preamble model for Wireless PAN(WPAN) in proposed Ultra WideBand(UWB) Multi-Band OFDM(MB-OFDM) system of IEEE 802.15.3a standard. Besides, we propose effective Carrier Frequency Offset and Symbol Timing Offset Estimation algorithm which offers enhanced performance, and analyze its performance using Detection Probability, False Alarm Probability, Missing Probability, Mean Acquisition Time and MSE(Mean Square Error) through simulation in AWGN and UWB channel environments.

  • This paper presents a design experience of a control language for coordination of a multi-robot system. To effectively program job commands, a Petrinet-type Graphical Robot Language(PGRL) is proposed, where some functions, such as concurrency and synchronization, for coordination among tasks can be easily programmed.In our system, the proposed task commands of PGRL are implemented by employing formal model languages, which are composed of three modules, sensory, data handling, and action module. It is expected that by using our proposed PGRL and formal languages, one can easily describe a job or task, and hence can effectively operate a complex real-time and concurrent system. The control system is being implemented by using VME-based 32-bit microprocessor boards for supervisory, each module controller(arm, hand, leg, sensor data processing module) and a real time multi-tasking operating system(VxWorks).   • 멀티미디어 응용의 확산에 따라 MOD와 같은 서비스와 이를 뒷받침하기 위해 네트웍 환경이 급증하고 있다. 이러한 서비스는 네트웍을 이용하므로 실시간성과 최적의 스케줄링 알고리즘이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 가변적인 네트웍 상황을 고려한 전역시간 동기화 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘은 UDP환경 하에서의 설계 및 구현하였다. 성능 측정은 여러 가지 네트웍 환경에서 측정하였다. 제안한 알고리즘을 통해 측정된 데이터분석에 의해 서버 시간에 근접한 시간동기화를 얻을 수 있으므로 클라이언트의 QoS를 높일 수 있다.

  • As the recently proposed JTC has been proven to be effective for implementation of real-time target tracking system, the interest on the electronic support system for the real-time JTC tracker has been increased. Accordingly, we proposed a tracking system which is based on BPEJTC and adaptive the fixed site. But because the EOTS is generally needed in the moving site such as aircraft and vehicles, and there are many different tracking algorithm to adopt the BPEJTC, we present an advanced version of BPEJTC dniver which has synchronization input so as to be used for the target pointer. In addition to the designed system architecture, some experimental results conducted by this system are illustrated.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of pulse position modulation-time hopping ultra wide band (PPM-TH UWB) systems with antenna diversity technique in indoor wireless channel. A modified Saleh and Valenzuela (SV) model is adopted as a UWB indoor channel model. Perfect synchronization between a transmitter and a receiver is assumed. Therefore, coherent equal gain combining (EGC) scheme to collect the energy available in the multipath components is investigated. It is shown that the performance is improved by increasing the number of antennas at the receiver. The results of this paper can be applied to the applications of UWB.

  • The focus of Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) has been extended to inter-business process that cuts across independent companies. Combined with Supply Chain Management (SCM), inter-business process reengineering (IBPR) focuses on synchronization of business activities among trading partners to achieve performance improvements in inventory management and cycle time. This paper reviews the business process reengineering movement from the historical perspective and presents a case of inter-business process reengineering using the latest internet-based Business-to- Business (B2B) technology based on Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment (CPFR). The case demonstrates how CPFR technology reengineers the distribution process between Heineken USA and its distributors. As world's first implementor of web-based collaborative planning system, Heineken USA reduces cycle time from determining the customer need to delivery of the need by 50% and increases sales revenue by 10%. B2B commerce on the internet is predicted to grow from $90 billion in 1999 to $2.0 trillion in 2003. This paper provides the management with the bench-marking case on inter-business process reengineering using B2B e-commerce technology.

  • A study on the static type train simulator will include the training of new drives requires that the environment of the cab, controls placement, etc. must highly realistic so that driver can readily transfer his training experience to the real world. The simulator computer sends video disc speed command to a Video PC processor. A video switcher select the output of the on-line player. This selection is done with loss of vertical synchronization, meaning the picture will not noticeable roll or jump as the simulation mover from disc to disc. The video image quality remain contestant through the simulated speed range from zero to 100km/h. Flicker is avoided in the scene by the use of a TBC(Time Base Corrector) which causes the display of one video field at a time. Thus, no interfield jitter is present when the scene is stopped.

  • 본 논문에서는 WBAN을 위한 무선 USB 프로토콜의 에너지 효율적인 시간동기 알고리즘에 대한 연구이다. 에너지 효율적인 즉, 전력 소모를 최소화하기 위한 정밀한 시간동기 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 시간 동기 알고리즘은 WBAN에서 무선 USB의 센서노드의 Time Stamp 패킷을 송수신하는 방식으로 전력소모를 최소화한다.

UbiFOS: A Small Real-Time Operating System for Embedded Systems

  • The ubiquitous flexible operating system (UbiFOS) is a real-time operating system designed for cost-conscious, low-power, small to medium-sized embedded systems such as cellular phones, MP3 players, and wearable computers. It offers efficient real-time operating system services like multi-task scheduling, memory management, inter-task communication and synchronization, and timers while keeping the kernel size to just a few to tens of kilobytes. For flexibility, UbiFOS uses various task scheduling policies such as cyclic time-slice (round-robin), priority-based preemption with round-robin, priority-based preemptive, and bitmap. When there are less than 64 tasks, bitmap scheduling is the best policy. The scheduling overhead is under 9 ${\mu}s$ on the ARM926EJ processor. UbiFOS also provides the flexibility for user to select from several inter-task communication techniques according to their applications. We ported UbiFOS on the ARM9-based DVD player (20 kB), the Calm16-based MP3 player (under 7 kB), and the ATmega128-based ubiquitous sensor node (under 6 kB). Also, we adopted the dynamic power management (DPM) scheme. Comparative experimental results show that UbiFOS could save energy up to 30% using DPM.

Precise Point Positioning using Atomium (아토미움을 이용한 정밀절대측위)

  • The precise time, which is an essential element of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), such as US GPS, GLONASS in Russia, Galileo in Europe, and Beidou in China, is an important foundation for various economic activities around the world. Communication systems, power grids, IoT, Cloud computing and financial networks operate based on the precise time not only for the operating principles, but also for the synchronization and operational efficiency between tasks. In this paper, we introduce the Atomium software for the first time in South Korea. Atomium was developed by ORB in Belgium to calculate the clock error(clock solution) with GNSS signal observation data based on PPP method. The observation data is provided by Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science(KRISS). The results of MJD57106 with Atomium software are presented.
