Space-Time Warp Curve for Synthesizing Multi-character Motions

  • This paper introduces a new motion-synthesis technique for animating multiple characters. At a high level, we introduce a hub-sub-control-point scheme that automatically generates many different spline curves from a user scribble. Then, each spline curve becomes a trajectory along which a 3D character moves. Based on the given curves, our algorithm synthesizes motions using a cyclic motion. In this process, space-time warp curves, which are time-warp curves, are embedded in the 3D environment to control the speed of the motions. Since the space-time warp curve represents a trajectory over the time domain, it enables us to verify whether the trajectory causes any collisions between characters by simply checking whether two space-time warp curves intersect. In addition, it is possible to edit space-time warp curves at run time to change the speed of the characters. We use several experiments to demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can efficiently synthesize a group of character motions. Our method creates collision-avoiding trajectories ten times faster than those created manually.

DEVS 모델의 낙관적 분산 시뮬레이션을 위한 사건 정렬 방법 (Events Ordering in Optimistic Distributed Simulation of DEVS Models)

  • In this paper, we propose a new events ordering mechanism for the optimistic distributed simulation of DEVS models. To simulate DEVS models in a distributed environment, a synchronization protocol is required for correct simulation. Time Warp is the most well-known optimistic synchronization protocol for distributed simulation. However, employing the Time Warp protocol in distributed simulation of DEVS models incurs events ordering problem due to the semantic difference between Time Warp and DEVS, Thus, to resolve such semantic difference, we devise the time-and-priority-stamp and $\varepsilon$ -delay schemes. The proposed schemes can order simultaneous events correctly in Time Warp-based distributed simulation of DEVS models.Time Warp and DEVS, Thus, to resolve such semantic difference, we devise the time-and-priority-stamp and $\varepsilon$ -delay schemes. Latency Hiding based Warp Scheduling Policy for High Performance GPUs

  • LRR(Loose Round Robin) warp scheduling policy for GPU architecture results in high warp-level parallelism and balanced loads across multiple warps. However, traditional LRR policy makes multiple warps execute long latency operations at the same time. In cases that no more warps to be issued under long latency, the throughput of GPUs may be degraded significantly. In this paper, we propose a new warp scheduling policy which utilizes latency hiding, leading to more utilized memory resources in high performance GPUs. The proposed warp scheduler prioritizes memory instruction based on GTO(Greedy Then Oldest) policy in order to provide reduced memory stalls. When no warps can execute memory instruction any more, the warp scheduler selects a warp for computation instruction by round robin manner. Furthermore, our proposed technique achieves high performance by using additional information about recently committed warps. According to our experimental results, our proposed technique improves GPU performance by 12.7% and 5.6% over LRR and GTO on average, respectively.

  • 음성 인식에서의 dynamic time warp (DTW)은 반복적 계산을 필요로 하며, 이 계산을 수행하기에 합당한 PE cell의 설계는 매우 중요하다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 실시간 어휘 인식을 가능하게 하는 대사전 규모의 대어휘 고립단어인식용 DTW알고리즘을 하드웨어로 구현하기위한 PE(Processing Element)소자의 설계에 주안점을 두었다. 이 DTW용 PE 소자를 크게 세가지의 블록으로 대별된다. 즉, “MIN" block, "ADD" block 그리고 ”ABS" block인데, “MIN"은 축적 최소거리를 계산하기 위한 블록이고, ”ADD"는 이들 최소거리들의 합을 계산하는 블록, 그리고 “ABS"는 이러한 합에 의한 국부거리를 절대값을 구하기 위한 블록이다. 본 연구에서는 이들 세가지 전체 블록회로의 설계 및 검증을 행하였으며, 1.2 m CMOS N-well 설계 규칙에 EK라 전체블록에 대한 레이아웃을 행한 후 설계 규칙 검사(DRC)를 마쳤다.에 대한 레이아웃을 행한 후 설계 규칙 검사(DRC)를 마쳤다.

CAW(Computer-Aided Weaving) 시스템을 활용한 Supplementary Warp의 직조디자인 연구 (A Study on Weave Design of Supplementary Warp using Computer-Aided Weaving System)

  • The major advantages to use CAD System are that it reduce time and effort to manufacture products, and also can demonstrate the condition of the final product prior to the actual manufacturing process of the selected design using the simulation programs in CAD system. Specially in weave design, for use as Computer-Aided Weaving system, the complicated Dobby weave can figured out easily through calculating the complex weave plans of multi shafts. As to one of dobby weave structures, Supplementary warp is the warp threads which are in addition to the regular warps of the woven fabrics, and used for decorating the band or expressing some patterns. The purpose of this study is to research the weave design of Supplementary warp using Computer-Aided Weaving system, which is dobby weave design program of Weave Point. For performing this design study, it was researched the classified woven fabrics depending upon weaving processing, Computer-Aided Weaving system, and the characteristic of Supplementary warp fabrics. On the basis of the theoretical research, Supplementary warp was worked for the 24-shafts AVL computer dobby loom that applied to the various patterned images. The design work was done by Weave Point program of dobby weave, and simulated to fabrics before woven into the computer dobby loom. To see the visual images of fashion items, these simulated bobby fabrics were processed by three-dimension modeling through YoungWoo CNI CAD system. All the patterns of the Supplementary warp in this study could be applied for decorating the fashion clothing and accessories.

소형 어류 플랑크톤 채집용 FMT Net 의 운용 특성 (Handling Charactristics of FMT Net for the Larval Fish and Plankton)

  • The experiments were conducted to fine out the handling characteristics of the FMT(Frame Mideater Trawl) in the southern waters of Korea using a trawler "DONGBAEK" belongs to Yosu National University. The realtionship between the net depth D(m) and the warp length L(m) at the towing speeds of 2.5k't and 3.5k't werw as follows ; D(m) = 0.30L - 1.3(2.5k't), D(m) = 0.16L - 1.5(3.5k't). Therefore, the net depth was 3.0m deeper when the warp length was 10m longer at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 1.6m deeper for 10m longer at the speed of 3.5k't, respectively. The sinking speed of FMT was 6.5m/min when the warp releasing speed was 24m/min at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 3.8m/min for 25m/min at the towing speed of 3.5k't, respectively. The rising speed of FMT was 6.9m/min when the warp rewinding speed was 28m/min at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 5.3m/min for 25m/min at the towing speed of 3.5k't, respectively. The mean elapsed time getting to the stable towing condition was 104sec at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 105sec at the towing speed of 3.5k't, respectively, and there was no time difference for the towing speed variation. During the towing, the net depth was comparatively stable on the condition of no change for the warp length and the towing speed.

자카드직물의 문양표현에 영향을 미치는 의장(design)방법 연구 -CAD활용을 중심으로- (A Study of Design Method impacting on Pattern Expression of Jacquard Fabric -On Based Using CAD-)

  • The purpose of this study was to research the design methods to express jacquard design using CAD. For this study, two design patterns were divided; in addition, each design pattern is applied to two different weaving types, single woven fabric and double well cloths. As a result, 16 samples were produced by applying 4 design methods (warp shrunk as half size design/weft shrunk as half size design - A, warp shrunk as half size design/weft original size design - B, warp original size design/weft shrunk as half size design - C, warp original size design/weft original size design - D) to the two design patterns with the two weaving types. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. The most delicate design method was Method D. However, Method B which took half the time less than Method D was almost as delicate as the Method D on the surface. 2. Method B was judged as a considerably efficient method for time and cost. 3. Method D was considered as most suitable for elaborate parts and delicate lines. However, it was considered uneconomical since it took the longest time. 4. Mettled A took 2.5 times less time than Method D. Therefore, Method A was more applicable to producing high density design. 5. Method C is not considered as a useful method as it showed rough surface and took long time by applying high design zoom except intentional design.

모시/실크 교직물의 제작과 표백 (Weaving and Bleaching of Ramie/Silk Mixture Fabrics)

  • The weavability and bleaching of ramie/silk mixture fabrics were examined. When silk fiber was used as warp or weft in the mixture fabrics, the weaving properties became higher than that of ramile fabrics. Especially, the highest weavabiliy of mixture fabrics was obtained when used as warp silk fiber. The whiteness of ramie and tussah fiber treated with hydrogen peroxide, bleaching agent. was increased up to about 80% without significant changes of tenacity and elongation. As the increase of bleaching agent and treatment time, the whiteness of mixture fabrics was increased and the yellowness was decreased. Also, as the whiteness of mixture fabrics increased, the drape stiffness in warp direction was decreased but crease recovery was increased.

섬유소계 직물의 탄화날염가공이 섬유손성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Burn out Print Finishing on Cellulose Fiber Damage)

  • To find out the effect of burn out print finishing for better quality of fabric, examined processing which could make less damages on the fiber because the biggest problem is remained fibers damage after burn out print finishing. Fiber damage examined to the condition of finishing material NaHSO$_4$and H$_2$SO$_4$, 3~10min., 100~13$0^{\circ}C$, glycerin. The fiber damages evaluated the break strength and the surface condition by SEM. Among satin, pile fabric which remained fiber is silk, warp knitted fabric which remained fiber is polyester, the fibers damage level were warp knitted fabric$0^{\circ}C$, glycerin and for 6 minutes by NaHSO$_4$. When carbonized by 20%. 50% and 70% to express textile design, carbonizing rate was not effect on the fiber damage very much. There was almost no damages with glycerine, and almost no damages during 3~6minutes fixation time, 10$0^{\circ}C$ steaming heat fixation by NaHSO$_4$and H$_2$SO$_4$. Without glycerine, there were damage by hydrolysis on polyesters surface and the fiver was broken by fixation time.
