고압 인젝터의 동적 거동을 고려한 최적 틈새 조합에 관한 연구 (Selection of Optimum Clearance Considering the Dynamic Behavior of a High-pressure Injector)

  • An injector is a mechanical device present inside the engine. Its main function is to supply an appropriate volume of fuel into the combustion chamber, which is directly related to the overall engine efficiency of a car. During the operation of an injector, a magnetic force lifts the parts of the injector from closed position to open position which generates a horizontal force on the needle. The horizontal force acts on a different position from that of the center of mass of the needle. Therefore, this causes eccentricity in the needle and the generation of a tilting motion during the lifting operation which can result in wear. However, appropriate selection of clearances for these parts can prevent wear. In this study, lubrication analysis is conducted to determine the optimum clearance of parts with sliding motion inside the injector. The height functions are derived considering the dynamic behavior and relative velocity of the parts. Using the derived height function, the pressure profiles are calculated for the lubricated surfaces from the Reynolds' equation. Subsequently, the fluid reaction forces are calculated. The equations of motions are applied to the fluid reaction forces and external forces are solved to calculate the minimum film thickness between each part with variation in the clearances. Finally, the optimum clearances are determined. The effect of the clearances on the behavior of the moving parts is presented and discussed.

견관절 운동 분율의 측정 (Measurement of shoulder motion fraction and motion ratio)

  • 연구 목적: 견관절 운동분율과 운동비의 측정과정을 이해하고, 견갑 흉곽관절과 관절와 상완관절의 운동비의 기준을 제시하고자 함이다. 연구대상 및 방법: 100명의 건강한 대상자를 연령대별(20, 30, 40, 50, 60대)로 20명씩 나누어 각각의 견관절 촬영과 분율을 계산하였다. 견갑극에 수직이고 관절와 면에 평행인 상을 재현하기 위하여 상완이 자연지위일 때 머리 방향 $15^{\circ}$, 90도 거상 시 $19^{\circ}$, 최대 거상 시 $22^{\circ}$로 입사각을 적용하였고, 몸의 회전 각도는 $40^{\circ},\;36^{\circ},\;22^{\circ}$로 시상면에서 외전시키며 촬영하였다. 관절운동 방향에 따른 운동 범위를 확인하기 위해, 측각도계(goniometer)를 이용하여 양측 견관절의 운동범위를 측정하였다. 전운동의 팔의 각도와 방사선 영상의 팔의 각도를 측정하여 상완관절 운동 각도와 견갑 흉곽관절의 운동 각도를 계산하였다. 결 과: 오른팔의 운동 분율은 $90^{\circ}$에서 남자 1.22, 여자 1.70 이었고, 최대 거상 시 1.63, 1.84였다. 왼팔은 $90^{\circ}$에서 1.31, 1.54, 최대 거상 시 각각 1.57, 1.32였다. 오른 우세팔은 $90^{\circ}$에서 1.58, 최대 거상 시 1.43이었고, 왼쪽 우세팔 각각 1.82, 1.94였다. 20대에서는 $90^{\circ}$ 거상 시 1.56, 최대 거상 시 1.52였고, 30대는 1.82, 1.43, 40대는 1.23, 1.16, 50대는 1.80, 1.28, 60대는 1.24, 1.75로 나타났다. 견관절의 운동 특성상 남녀에 따른 운동비, 우세팔과 비우세팔, 연령대에 따른 운동비를 측정하여 비교해 본 결과 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결 론: 견관절 운동 분율의 기준은 견관절의 운동장애를 확인하고 견관절 질환의 치료 후 정상적인 견관절 기능회복 여부를 확인하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 견관절 운동비 측정을 위한 운동 각도를 정확하게 측정할 수 있고, 실제 운동비를 계산할 수 있으면 방사선학적 자세와 입사각 설정에도 유용할 것이다.

가장자리 하중조건에서의 볼 조인트 마찰소음 연구 (Investigation of Friction Noise in Ball Joint Under Edge Loading Condition)

  • 본 연구에서는 볼 조인트 구조에서 가장자리 하중을 받고 있을 때의 마찰 소음을 이론적으로 연구하였다. 구형 베어링 구조체와 반구 형태의 소켓간 마찰접촉 모델을 수학적으로 유도하여 동역학적 운동방정식을 전개하였다. 그 결과 볼 조인트부 굽힘 모드가 마찰에 의해 불안정할 수 있음을 보였고, 축력 및 접촉강성이 볼 조인트 동적 불안정성에 크게 영향을 주고 있음을 보였다. 반면 소켓의 틸팅 각도는 동적 불안정성에 크게 기여하지 않음을 보였다.

센서 스캐닝에 의한 자율주행로봇의 경로주행 알고리즘 (A Path Navigation Algorithm for an Autonomous Robot Vehicle by Sensor Scanning)

  • In this paper, a path navigation algorithm through use of a sensor platform is proposed. The sensor platform is composed of two electric motors which make panning and tilting motions. An algorithm for computing a real path and an obstacle length is developed by using a scanning method that controls rotation of the sensors on the platform. An Autonomous Robot Vehicle(ARV) can perceive the given path by adapting this algorithm. A sensor scanning method is applied to the sensor platform for using small numbers of sensor. The path navigation algorithm is composed of two parts. One is to perceive a path pattern, the other is used to avoid an obstacle. An optimal controller is designed for tracking the reference path which is generated by perceiving the path pattern. The ARV is operated using the optimal controller and the path navigation algorithm. Based on the results of actual experiments, this algorithm for an ARV proved sufficient for path navigation by small number of sensors and for a low cost controller by using the sensor platform with a scanning method.

Effectiveness of Iliopsoas Self-Stretching on Hip Extension Angle, Gluteus Maximus Activity, and Pelvic Compensations during Prone Hip Extension in Subjects with Iliopsoas Shortness

  • Purpose: This study examined the effectiveness of iliopsoas self-stretching on the hip extension angle, gluteus maximus (GM) activity, and pelvic compensated angle during prone hip extension (PHE) in subjects with iliopsoas shortness. Methods: Twenty-healthy subjects with iliopsoas shortness were recruited. Electromyography (EMG) was used to examine erector spinae (ES), multifidus (MF), GM, and biceps femoris (BF) while performing PHE. An electromagnetic tracking motion analysis device was used to measure the pelvic compensations. The pelvic compensations while performing PHE were considered to be anterior tilting and rotation. A modified Thomas test was used to monitor the hip extension angle before and after iliopsoas self-stretching. A paired t-test was used to investigate the significant difference after iliopsoas self-stretching during PHE. The level of statistical significance was set to ${\alpha}=0.05$. Results: Muscle activity of GM and hip extension angle were significantly greater after iliopsoas self-stretching compared to that before iliopsoas self-stretching during PHE (p<0.05). BF and pelvic rotation angle were significantly lower after iliopsoas self-stretching compared to that before iliopsoas self-stretching during PHE (p<0.05). The muscle activity of ES was not significantly different between PHE before and after iliopsoas self-stretching (p>0.05). Conclusion: Iliopsoas self-stretching can be effective in selectively strengthening the GM muscles with minimized pelvic compensation in subjects with iliopsoas shortness.

  • Fluid dynamic bearings (FDBs) have been replacing ball bearings of the HDD spindle motor very rapidly. But there are several demerits of HDB, such as high friction torque, variable viscosity of the fluid lubricant depending on operating temperature, low stiffness, and etc. Eccentricity is one of the major parameters which affects the static and dynamic characteristics. As the static eccentricity is larger, the stiffness and the damping coefficients become bigger. But friction torque is relatively unaffected by the static eccentricity. This research proposes a new type of journal bearing with asymmetric journal grooves which results in better dynamic characteristics. The static and dynamic characteristics of the new journal bearing are investigated by solving the Reynolds' equation with FEM, and the transient analysis is performed to predict the dynamic behavior of rotor by solving the equations of motion of a HDD spindle system with Runge-Kutta method. The result shows that the proposed Journal bearings have much bigger stiffness and damping coefficients compared with the conventional symmetric ones. And consequently, it has smaller whirl radius and tilting angle.

  • A pattern master and a Ni stamper for 50nm class of patterns are fabricated through e-beam lithography and Ni electroforming process. A model pattern set is designed, which is based on unit patterns of 50nm, 100nm, 150nm and 200nm in length and 50nm in width. The e-beam process is optimized to fabricate designed patterns with some parameters including dose, accelerating voltage, focal distance and developing time. For Ni electroforming to fabricate Ni stamper, a seed layer, a conducting layer, is deposited first on the pattern master fabricated by an e-beam lithography process. Ni, Ti/Ni and Cr are first tested to find optimal seed layer process. Currently the best result is obtained when adopting Cr deposited to be 100nm thick with continuous tilting motion of the master substrate during the deposition process.

Integrated three-dimensional digital assessment of accuracy of anterior tooth movement using clear aligners

  • Objective: To assess the accuracy of anterior tooth movement using clear aligners in integrated three-dimensional digital models. Methods: Cone-beam computed tomography was performed before and after treatment with clear aligners in 32 patients. Plaster casts were laser-scanned for virtual setup and aligner fabrication. Differences in predicted and achieved root and crown positions of anterior teeth were compared on superimposed maxillofacial digital images and virtual models and analyzed by Student's t-test. Results: The mean discrepancies in maxillary and mandibular crown positions were $0.376{\pm}0.041mm$ and $0.398{\pm}0.037mm$, respectively. Maxillary and mandibular root positions differed by $2.062{\pm}0.128mm$ and $1.941{\pm}0.154mm$, respectively. Conclusions: Crowns but not roots of anterior teeth can be moved to designated positions using clear aligners, because these appliances cause tooth movement by tilting motion.

  • In this paper, we present theoretical and experimental study on the viscous damping of the on-substrate torsional micromirrors, oscillating near the silicon substrates. In this theoretical study, we develop theoretical models and test structures for the viscous damping of the on-substrate torsional micromirrors. From a finite element analysis, we estimate the theoretical damping coefficients of the torsional micromirrors. From a finite element analysis, we estimate the theoretical damping coefficients of the torsional micromirrors, fabricated by the surface-micromaching process. From the electrostatic test of the fabricated devices, frequency-dependent rotationalvelocity of the micromirrors has been measured at the atmospheric pressure using devices, frequency-dependent rotational velocity of the micromirrors has been measured at the atmospheric pressure using the Mach-Zehnder interferometer system. Experimental damping coefficients have been extracted from the least square fit of the measured rotational velocity within the filter bandwidth of 150 kHz. We have compared the theoretical values and the experimental results on the dynamic performance of the micromirrors. The theoretical analysis overstimates the resonant frequency in the amount of 15%, while underestimating the viscous damping in the factors of 10%.

가동 자석형 3 축 구동 엑츄에이터 개발 (Development of 3-axis Moving Magnet Type Actuator)

  • The optical disc drive has used a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode for high recording density. But high NA and shorter wavelength cause several margins to become short. Focusing and tracking servo has to be more accurate and active tilt compensation mechanism is also needed for coma aberration compensation. In this paper, we proposed 3-axis moving magnet type actuator. For 3-DOF motion, moving coil actuator has to be equipped with 6 wires for supplying 3 independent signals. However, moving magnet type actuator doesn't need to change the configuration of wires because coils are in stator. So, we added a tilt mechanism to the 2-axis moving magnet actuator which is designed in previous research. Addition of the tilt mechanism cuts down the focus sensitivity. So, maximization the tilting sensitivity and securing the focusing sensitivity are objectivities of this research. DOE (design of experiments) procedures of electromagnetic circuit are performed for parameter study and the optimization is also performed to maximize the tilt sensitivity. And then the final design is suggested and its performance is verified by FE simulation.
