이성체쌍의 열중성자포획단면적비 측정

  • Isomeric ratios were measured for the capture of thermal neutron by $^{79}$ Br, $^{80}$ Se, $^{103}$ Rh, $^{115}$ In and $^{133}$ Cs as well as those of epi-cadmium neutron by $^{79}$ Br, $^{80}$ Se and $^{l33}$Cs. The measurements were performed by analysing decay curves obtained by ${\gamma}$-ray spectrometry after irradiation. The counting efficiency curve was determined by using the calibrated standard sources with overall uncertainties of about 1%. Isomeric ratios, given in $\sigma$ high spin/($\sigma$ high spin + $\sigma$ low spin), of $^{80, 80m}$Br, $^{81,81m}$Se, $^{014, 104m}$Rh, $^{116,116m}$In and $^{134, 134m}$Cs produced by thermal neutron activation were found to be 0.21$\pm$0.01, 0.14$\pm$0.02, 0.12$\pm$0.02, 0.69$\pm$0.07 and 0.058$\pm$0.004, respectively, Those values of $^{80, 80m}$Br, $^{81,81m}$Se, and $^{134, 134m}$Cs Produced by epi-cadmium neutron were found to be 0.19$\pm$0.02, 0.29$\pm$0.02 and 0.074$\pm$0.011, respectively. The experimental values obtained were compared with the theoretical values deduced from the statistical model. There were the general agreements between the theory and the experiment.t.

Studies on Oleoresin Product from Spices 2. Quality Stability of Red Pepper Oleoresin (향신재료를 이용한 Oleoresin제조에 관한 연구 2. 고추 Oleoresin의 품질안정성)

  • Thermal stability and quality change during storage of red pepper oleoresin were studied. Upon heat treatment, carotenoids in oleoresin from red pepper were more stable under nitrogen than air. In the thermal stabilities, the presence of air at $100^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours and 10 hours were 69.1% and 42.3%, respectively ; whereas, in the presence of nitrogen, 95.4% and 92.3%, respectively. In contrast, capsaicin was comparatively stable upon heat treatment in the presence of air. The retentions of capsaicin at $100^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours and 10 hours were 84.7% and 81.3% with air, those were 90.7% and 87.5% with nitrogen, respectively. Color appearance showed close relation to the stability of total carotenoids during 60 days storage at varying temperatures ; $5^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C\;and\;40^{\circ}C$ were 69.4%, 48.0% and 35.1%, respectively. The degradation of total carotenoids during storage could be interpreted as a first order reaction. The activation energy obtained from the Arrhenius plot was 5.03 kcal/mole. Conversely, capsaicin was very stable under storage temperatures. More than 90% of capsaicin was remained upon completion of storage. In the mean time, pH of oleoresin was increased slightly as increasing storage temperatures.

  • $Na_2O-CaO-MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass was taken as a basic glass and then $Li_2O$ O.5wt%, $K_2O$ 2.0wt% were substituted to $Na_2O$content, MgO 12.0wt %, ZnO 6.0wt % to CaO content. And also nucleation agent $ZrO_2 and $CaF_2$ were added to 1-2wt% respectively. The crystal according to the compositions appeared wollastonite, diopside and diopside.tremolite. The glasses substituted NazO by LizO was decreased thermal expansion coeffcient but substituted by ZnO was opposite direction and both of them increased bending strength. In the ratio of ZrOz to CaF, each 1: 1 and 1: 2 have shown considerable crystal growth at $1000^{circ}C~1050^{\circ}C$ and high bending strength, but the glass in the ratio 1: 2 have shown lowest thermal expansion coefficient. The activation energy was at the glass in the ratio of ZrO, to CaFz 1:2 evaluated 55.24kvsl/mol by Ozawa type and 53.05kal/mol by kissinger type.

Study of Multi-stacked InAs Quantum Dot Infrared Photodetectors Grown by Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (유기금속화학기상증착법을 이용한 적층 InAs 양자점 적외선 수광소자 성장 및 특성 평가 연구)

  • We grew multi-stacked InAs/$In_{0.1}Ga_{0.9}As$ DWELL (dot-in-a-well) structure by metal organic chemical vapor deposition and investigated optical properties by photoluminescence and I-V characteristics by dark current measurement. When stacking InAs quantum dots (QDs) with same growth parameter, the size and density of QDs were changed, resulting in the bimodal emission peak. By decreasing the flow rate of TMIn, we achieved the uniform multi-stacked QD structure which had the single emission peak and high PL intensity. As the growth temperature of n-type GaAs top contact layer (TCL) is above $600^{\circ}C$, the PL intensity severely decreased and dark current level increased. At bias of 0.5 V, the activation energy for temperature dependence of dark current decreased from 106 meV to 48 meV with increasing the growth temperature of n-type GaAs TCL from 580 to $650^{\circ}C$. This suggest that the thermal escape of bounded electrons and non-radiative transition become dominant due to the thermal inter-diffusion at the interface between InAs QDs and $In_{0.1}Ga_{0.9}As$ well layer.

Kinetics of Thermal Inactivation of Peroxidases and Polyphenol Oxidase in Pineapple (Ananas comosus)

  • The heat tolerance and the inactivation kinetics of peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) in pineapples (Ananas comosus) were studied in the temperature range $45-95^{\circ}C$. The kinetic parameters, such as deactivation rate constant (k), activation energy ($E_a$), and decimal reduction rate (D) of the thermal inactivation process, were determined. POD in pineapples showed biphasic inactivation behavior at temperatures range $45-75^{\circ}C$ but was monophasic at $85-95^{\circ}C$. This indicate that POD has 2 isozymes, namely heat labile and heat resistant, with $E_a$ of 68.79 and 93.23 kJ/mol, respectively. On the other hand, the heat denaturation of pineapple PPO could be described as simple monophasic first-order behavior with $E_a$ of 80.15 kJ/mol. Thus, the results of this study is useful in blanching technology where it shows a shortened time with higher temperature can be applied. The determination of the heat tolerance and inactivation POD and PPO, at different temperature range as done in the present work, was very important to improve the blanching process. This also will help to optimize the pineapple canning process which is one of the most important food industries in many tropical regions.

전자빔의 조사가 직접이온빔으로 증착하는 CN 박막의 물성에 미치는 영향

  • 이온빔 증착에 있어서 전자의 조사가 이온빔 증착기구에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구는 지금까지 보고 되어지지 않았다. 특히 전자의 조사가 증착층의 물성에 영향을 미칠 수 있느지에 대하여 정량적인 결과를 실험을 통하여 제시한 보고는 내가 아는 한 존재하지 않는다. 한편 이와같이 박막 증착에 있어서 전하가 증착되어지는 박막의 물성에 미칠 수 있는 영향에 대해서는 많은 과학자들의 관심사이기도 하다. 본 실험에서는 kaufman ion gun을 이용하여 질소 양이온을, 그리고 Cs+ ion gun을 이용하여 탄소 음이온을 조사하고 이들을 이용하여 CN 박막을 증착하였다. 질소 양이온의 에너지는 100eV, 이온밀도는 70$\mu$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$로 고정하고, 탄소 이온빔(80$\mu$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$)의 에너지를 200cV까지 변화시켜가며 증착하였다. 이때 증착층의 특성에 음 전하의 효과를 유발하기 위하여 350~360$\mu$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$의 전자빔을 이온빔 증착과 동시에 추가로 조사하였고 이의 특성을 전자빔을 조사하지 않고 증착한 CN 박막의 특성과 서로 비교하였다. 또한 증착 표면의 전하 축적에 의한 입사 이온빔의 에너지 감소에 의한 영향을 방지하기 위하여 증착되는 Si 기판에 HF (300kHz, 3.5V) bias를 가하여 주었다. 전자빔의 조사와 동시에 이루어진 CN 박막의 증착은 입사하는 탄소 음 이온빔의 에너지가 80eV에서 180eV 사이일때 원자밀도의 향상과 질소함량의 증가, 그리고 sp2C-N 결합대비 sp3C-N 결합의 향상이 이루어졌음을 확인하였다. 이는 이온빔 충돌에 의하여 피코쵸 정도의 시간대에 이루어지는 박막내의 collision cascade 영역에 이에 의하여 생긴 결함부위에 유입된 음 전하가 위치하면 전하주위의 원자와 polarization을 형성하고 이에 의하여 탄소와 질소의 결합을 형성하는데 필요한 자유에너지의 감소를 수반하는 방향으로 원자의 배열이 이루어지기 때문으로 사료된다. 이와같이 이온빔 에너지가 이온빔 증착 기구의 주요한 인자로 널리 인식되고 있는 kinetic bonding process에 있어서 이온 에너지에 의하여 activation energy barrier를 넘은후, 전자의 조사가 자유에너지를 낮추는 방향으로 최종 결합경로를 조절할 수 있기 때문에 이온빔 증착을 조절할 수 있는 또 하나의 주요한 인자로 받아들여질 수 있으리라 판단된다. 이온빔 프로세스에 의한 DLC 혹은 탄소관련 필름을 형성하는데 있어서 입사 이온빔의 에너지에 의하여 수반되는 thermal spike 혹은 외부 열원에 의한 가열은 박막층의 흑연화를 수반하기 때문에 박막의 sp3 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 회피하여야 할 요소이지만 thermal spike에 의한 국부 영역의 가열과 같은 불가피한 인자가 존재하는 상황에서 전자에 의한 추가 전하의 조사에 의한 최종결합경로의 선택적 조절은 박막의 화학적 결합과 물리적 특성을 향상시킬 수 있는 중요한 방법이 될 수 있다고 판단된다.

Study on Torrefaction Characteristics of Baggase (사탕수수 부산물의 반탄화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Torrefaction is a thermal treatment process to pre-treat biomass at temperature of $200{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ under an inert atmosphere. It was known that torrefaction process strongly depended on the decomposition temperature of the lignocellulosic constituents in biomass. In this work, the torrefaction characteristics of baggase has been studied. This study focuses on the relation between the energy yields, heating values, gas emission, volatile and ash constituents with torrefaction temperatures and times. The activation energies of baggase torrefaction has been studied by using TGA (Thermogravimetric Analyzer). From this work, it was seen that ash constituents and heating values were increased with torrefaction temperature, while volatile constituents and energy yields decreased. It was also found that carbon monoxide containing oxygen were decomposed at a lower temperature than those of hydrocarbon compounds, $C_xH_y$.

Defects and Electrical Properties of ZnO-Bi2O3-Mn3O4-Co3O4 Varistor (ZnO-Bi2O3-Mn3O4-Co3O4 바리스터의 결함과 전기적 특성)

  • In this study, we have investigated the effects of Mn and Co co-doping on defects, J-E curves and grain boundary characteristics of ZnO-$Bi_2O_3$ (ZB) varistor. Admittance spectra and dielectric functions show two bulk defects of $Zn_i^{{\cdot}{\cdot}}$ (0.17~0.18 eV) and $V_o^{\cdot}$ (0.30~0.33 eV). From J-E characteristics the nonlinear coefficient (${\alpha}$) and resistivity (${\rho}_{gb}$) of pre-breakdown region decreased as 30 to 24 and 5.1 to 0.08 $G{\Omega}cm$ with sintering temperature, respectively. The double Schottky barrier of grain boundaries in ZB(MCo) ($ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Mn_3O_4-Co_3O_4$) could be electrochemically single type. However, its thermal stability was slightly disturbed by ambient oxygen because the apparent activation energy of grain boundaries was changed from 0.64 eV at lower temperature to 1.06 eV at higher temperature. It was revealed that a co-doping of Mn and Co in ZB reduced the heterogeneity of the barrier in grain boundaries and stabilized the barrier against an ambient temperature (${\alpha}$-factor= 0.136).

The $PbWO_{4}:Nb$ single crystal growth and its optical properties ($PbWO_{4}:Nb$ 단결정의 성장과 그 광학적 특성)

  • High quality pure and Nb-doped $PbWO_{4}$ Single Crystal were grown from a 50 %~50 % mixture of Lead oxide (PbO) and Tungsten oxide $(WO_{3})$ by Czochralski method in Iridium crucible. The stoichiometric deviation correspond to the selective loss of the crystal constituents is found to be responsible for the yellowish coloration of $PbWO_{4}$. Through the X-ray powder diffraction experiment, we have investigated the lattice constant variations of each $PbWO_{4}$ crystals. We also present information on their photoluminescence (PL), optical absoption properties and Raman spectra. The temperature dependence of PL intensity and FWHM (Full Width Half Maximum) were measured in the temperature range 10 K~300 K. One observes a slight temperature dependence in the low temperature region and PL intensity decreases over 200 K by thermal quenching. The activation energy, Huang-Rhys coupling constant and inhomogenious brodenning acquired from their temperature dependence.

Pyrolysis Characteristics of Compressed Municipal Solid Wastes (압축한 도시고형폐기물의 열분해 특성)

  • The pyrolysis characteristics of celluloses and plastics, which are the principal materials contributing to the municipal solid wastes(MSWs), was investigated with a thermal gravimetric analysis reaction system. The experiments were carried out in a nitrogen atmosphere in the temperature range of 400~900K at various experimental conditions. Also, a modified pyrolysis model for compressed MSWs has been proposed. Varing the heating rate to 20, 30, 40K/min, reaction orders of MSWs' main component were around 1.1~1.9, activation energies were 117~166kJ/mol for celluloses and 187~239kJ/mol for plastics. Char yield was proportional to the heating rate, particle size, and compressed ratio. The model proposed in this study, which is applying Arrhenius equation and thermodynamics, is closer to the experimental results than the conventional model.
