  • It is important to identify and discuss what the most vial contributions of criminological theories. In the field of criminology, most significant contributions or advancement have been made on the various issues such as age, the integration of structural and procedural level theories, other theoretical integration debates. However, it is hard to find ant systematic study exploring such a contribution in criminological theories. This study, therefore, has a purpose to discuss three most significant contributions to our theoretical understanding of criminal behavior made since 1985. To accomplish the study purpose, this study choose the followed three theoretical contributions; the emergence of life course theory, the revision of social disorganization theory, and the introduction of social structure and social Learning (SSSL) model. The three theoretical works will be introduced and discussed regarding other theoretical integration trends in the body of this study. The conclusion, contribution of this current study has been discussed in the last conclusion and discussion section.

  • Successful Intelligence (SI) developed by R. Sternberg has impacted on various fields such as education and industry, providing with intuitive view-points concerning the definition, nature, and measurement of intelligence. It would be a timely work to review how SI has been progressed, what contributions it made, what it has influenced on intelligence research in Korea, and what the implications of SI for future research are. With that in mind, this review is composed of several sections. First, an overview of the SI's historical development and main characteristics and contributions is presented with three distinct periods: Era of the Componential Theory, of Triarchic Theory, and of Successful Intelligence. Second, Selected researches conducted in Korea based on SI are summarized. Lastly, future research for validation of SI is discussed.

  • This study is purposed for examine the trends and social contributions in the field of consumer studies during the 1980's and 1990's All the 420 articles on the consumer studies published in the Journal of Korean Home Management Association the Journal of Korean Home Economics Association the Journal of Family Resource Management Association and the Journal of Consumer Studies are analysed by the themes the published journals and published years. The consumer areas are divided into two major sub areas. They are family economics(which is including consumption theory and pattern and family financial management ) and consumer affairs (which includes consumer behavior consumer policy and consumer education) The proportion of publishing is about 40% in former area and about 60% in latter area. And the evaluation of the social contributions of consumer studies and the strategies to enhance are also discussed.

  • Gator Szego was one of the most brilliant Mathematicians. Mathematical science owes him several fundamental contributions in such fields as theory of functions of a complex variables, conformal mapping, Fourier series, theory of orthogonal polynomials, and many others. He wrote the famous Polya-Szego Problems and Theorem in Analysis which is the two volume of concentrated mathematical beauty. In this paper, we mention Szego's life, Szego's work, and Szego reproducing kernel.

  • The mainpoints of General Theory is 1) the mainspring of economic activity is effective demand which can expand or control in relation to supply as a result of spontaneous decision by customer or government. 2) change in effective demand Produce change in output and employment in the same direction 3) which given productivity of labour the Vice level depend on the money supply affect the in downward direction 4) change in the money supply affect the economy through the rates of interest 5) the only automatic mechanism through which the economy can adjust itself to a deficiency of effective demand is the long process which unemployment reduces wage rates and consequently the demand for money and interest rates, above summarized contents are General Theory frame-work. The neo-classical macro general equilibrium theory, which has been reconstructed subsequent to Keyneses critism is treated the neo-classical macro-general equilibrium theory which inherits the classical theories of labour market and the aggregate production function, on demand side, it introduce the Keyneses macro-general equilibrium theory, which function through flexible movement of prices, wage and interest. Nowadays, Keynes General Theory is being developed into new dimension i, e. the macro-disequilibrium theory, and adequacy, and appropriateness of the theory and its significant contributions to modern economics are being reinterpreted and substantiated.

  • In this study, a simple two-dimensional shear deformation model is employed for buckling analysis of functionally graded (FG) plates. The proposed theory has a kinematic with integral terms which considers the influence of shear deformation without using "shear correction factors". The impact of varying material properties and volume fraction of the constituent on buckling response of the FG plate is examined and discussed. The benefit of this theory over other contributions is that a number of variables is reduced. The basic equations that consider the influence of transverse shear stresses are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. The analytical solutions are obtained utilizing the "Navier method". The accuracy of the proposed theory is proved by comparisons with the different solutions found in the literature.

  • Porous media consist of physically and chemically different materials and have an extremely complicated behavior due to the different material properties of each of its constituents. In addition, the internal structure of porous materials has generally a complex geometry that makes the description of its mechanical behavior quite complex. Thus, classical continuum mechanics cannot explain the behavior of materials with pore spaces, such as concrete, soils and organic materials in waste landfill. For these reasons, porous media theory has been developed in the nineteenth century. Biot had the greatest influence on the development of porous media theory. Biot's work has been referred by many authors in the literature. Development of numerous fundamental equations in porous media theory were made possible due to Biot's work. His contributions made the greatest influence on porous media theory. Therefore, it is highly advantageous to review Biot's publications. This work presents a review of Biot's work. It shows how porous media theory has been developing so far and provides a chance to discuss the contribution of his work to the modern porous media theory.

  • This article investigated the lives and careers of three great librarians in India, USA, and Korea: S. R. Ranganathan, Melvil Dewey, and Bong-Suk Park, respectively. It also explored their influences and contributions. Their births and early years, and marriage; college years; commitment toward librarianship and careers; achievements in other areas; personalities; and commemorative activities, among others, were analyzed. Their contributions to librarianship and library community in the general theory of library science, professional education, classification and cataloging, library administration and management, and library associations and library movement were also investigated. Special focus was on Bong-Suk Park, with a special regard to his unrealized dream for the Korean library community as well as insufficient estimation related to him and his achievements.

  • The aim of this study is to compare country output and citation impact as well as to assess the level of interdisciplinarity in the field of tribology research during the period 1998-2012, based on the SCOPUS database. Macro-level scientometric indicators such as growth rate, share of international collaborative papers, citation per paper, share of un-cited papers, and publication efficiency index were employed. Further, the Simpson Index of Diversity was used to measure the level of interdisciplinarity. The performance of top countries contributing more than 1000 papers during the study period was discussed. Contributions and share of continents and countries by income groups were examined. Further research contributions and citation impact of selected country groups were analyzed. This study reveals that high levels of interdisciplinarity exist in tribology research. Asia outperforms the other world regions and China contributes most of the papers (25%), while the United States receives most of the citations (22%).

  • In this paper, ‘gesture’ is discussed as a means of human-friendly communication between man and machine. We classify various gestures into two Categories: ‘contact based’ and ‘non-contact based’ Each method is reviewed and some real applications are introduced. Also, key design issues of the method are addressed and some contributions of soft-computing techniques, such as fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks (ANN), rough set theory and evolutionary computation, are discussed.
