The purpose of this study is to investigate Home Economics(HE) teachers' perception of Home Economics curriculum perspective and their instructional culture, and to find out correlations between them. 210 questionnaires were used for analysis. The results are as follows. First, our research showed that the preferences of HE teachers with respect to curriculum perspectives were in the order of the interpretive, emancipatory, and technical perspectives. However, there was no consistency among findings in the preferences for the sub-elements of a curriculum. Second, our results indicated that HE teachers performed their role affirmatively in terms of instructional culture such as the 'cooperation between teachers', the 'class focused on student', and the 'learning materials preparation'. Third, there was a statistically significant difference in five elements such as the 'cooperation among teachers' between the HE teachers' curriculum perspectives and their instructional culture. Fourth, there was a statistically significant difference in the 4 factors of 'instructional culture' between the teacher group whose curriculum preference was clear and those group whose curriculum preferences was vague.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the mother and teachers need assessment for preschooler consumer education and related variables and to provide a basis for the development of consumer education program. The survey of this research was conducted by means of self-administered questionnaire with 302 mothers of the preschoolers who are 4-5 years old and attend nursery and kindergarten and 221 teachers of nursery and kindergarten in Ulsan. The statistics used for data analysis are frequencies and percentage, mean and standard deviation, on way ANOVA and Scheffee-test, Person's correlation using the SPSS/PC+ program. Some conclusions from the above investigation are as follows: 1. Each level of the need for consumer education on 22 subject area perceived by mothers and teachers of preschoolers was high and relatively high. Thus consumer education program for preschooler must include all subject area. 2. The mother's need for preschooler consumer education differs significantly according to age. The teacher's need for preschooler consumer education differs significantly according to family income. But these variables take a little effect to the need of mother and teacher. So the consumer education program doesn't need to classify by socio-economic characteristics of mother and teacher. 3. The mother's need for preschooler consumer education are positively correlated to consumer knowledge and consumer skill but negatively correlated to consumption oriented attitude. So the consumer education program needs to develop the consumer knowledge and skill and reduce consumption oriented attitude for the preschooler's mother. 4. The teacher's need for preschooler consumer education are positively correlated to the level of consumer role performance. Thus the reeducation program for the teacher needs to develop the consumer role performance.
This study examined the expenditure on time-saving services and related variables. The time-saving services are food away from home, delivery food, dry cleaning, clothing care, helper and total service. The specific objectives of this study were: (1) to investigate the differences in the expenditure on time saving services according to social economic and demographic variables. (2) to investigate the differences in the expenditure on time-saving services according to role-overload, home goal orientation and work goal orientation. (3) to investigate the independent influence of variables related to the expenditure on time-saving services. For this objectives survey was conducted using interview. The data used in this study included 160 women living in Seoul from employed professional housewives, employed non-professional housewives and non-employed housewives. Statistical analyses were conducted using frequencies, percentiles, mean, oneway ANOVA, DUNCAN-test and multiple regression. The major findings were: (1) Wife's education, wife's age, income, tenure, level of living and employment status were significantly related to the expenditure on time-saving services by using the one-way ANOVA. (2) Income, education, level of living, number of children, and employment status explained the variance of the expenditures on time-saving services about 20%-39% by using a multiple regression method.

The present study examined the direct effects of parental support and monitoring on multicultural adolescents' school adjustment and the mediating role of ego-resilience in the relationships, under the condition of controlling foreign mothers' Korean language abilities. We used data from 1,325 1st grade middle school students from multicultural families, who participated in the Multicultural Adolescent Panel Survey(MAPS) administered by the National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI). Structural equation modeling analysis revealed the following: parental support and monitoring directly and positively related with multicultural adolescents' school adjustment, and the direct effect of parental support on the school adjustment of multicultural adolescents was greater than that of parental monitoring. In addition, the adolescents' ego-resilience partially mediated the relationships between parental support and monitoring, and their school adjustment. Finally, we recommended the roles of parent education and home economics education in supporting school adjustment and elevating ego-resilience in multicultural adolescents.
The purpose of this study was to determine the level of reasonable consumer habits of adolescents based on their consumer socialization, consumer education, and purchasing skills, and to determine their brand orientation based on facts that adolescent years is the determining period for consumer socialization, that their role as consumers take up relative importance, and that consumer habits during this period is extremely important. The directions of consumer education for forming a reasonable consumer culture for adolescents based on the results of the study are presented as follows. First, by conducting a training program for consumer counselor that supports courses such as consumer aid that are held for adolescent consumers, adolescents must be led towards logical purchase habits and to practice reasonable purchase habits. Second, since consumer attitude that is learned and formed since youth is important, discussion sessions as well as consumer education programs that can foster proper consumer knowledge, attitude, and function needs to be developed by schools and the government. Third, This can form improper consumption values such as over consumptions, conspicuous consumption, and impulsive purchase that may appear in their adult years; therefore, a consumer education program must be continued in the homes, schools, and by the government so that adolescents can learn manage reasonable consumer values and consumer habits.

The purpose of this study is to develop a practical and efficient school consumer education program for adolescents so they could apply the program in their real life situations and lead a sound and rational consuming life. 'I, Family. Society and Consuming Life' is a program targeted for adolescents and focuses on the resolution of practical problems related to consuming life that an individual faces in everyday lives while living as a member of a family and a society. The content of this program consists of 'I and consuming life', 'I and the consuming life of a family', and 'I and the consuming life of a society'. Through this program, adolescents will be able to improve the ability to solve practical problems they face in their consumer lives. and build the sound values on consumption so they could playa role of sensible consumers in the future.
The purpose of this study was to investigate marital satisfaction, parenting attitude and the practice of Taegyo and to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction, parenting attitude and the practice of Taegyo for pregnant women. The sample included 234 pregnant women who participated in Pregnant Education Programs in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. We analyzed the data which were collected by means of a questionnaire from June to September, 2012 and the data was analyzed with the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and Regression analysis by SPSS 19.0. The results were summarized as follows: First, the level of marital satisfaction and practice of Taegyo was relatively high. On the other hand the level of emotional value of parenting attitude was higher than that of instrumental value. Second, the group of higher marital satisfaction revealed a higher practice of Taegyo and also in the group of higher emotional and instrumental value of parenting attitude, the practice of Taegyo was high. Third, there was a positive relationship between marital satisfaction(respect, care, parent role, and housework role), parenting attitude(emotional value, instrumental value) and the practice of Taegyo such as food Taegyo, place Taegyo, language Taegyo, emotional Taegyo and behavior Taegyo. The significant factors influencing the practice of Taegyo was connected with parent role, housework role of marital satisfaction, and instrumental value of parenting attitude.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation among peer support, family strength and self-control. This subjects were the 438 high school students living in Gwangju. Data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 program. The major findings were as follows; First, the high school students' peer support and family strength scores were higher than median(3.00). Also, long-term satisfaction pursuit scores were higher than median and the immediate satisfaction pursuit scores were lower than median. Second, peer support showed significant difference according to sex. Family strength showed partially significant difference according to standard of living and parents' education achievement. Self-controls showed significant difference according to sex and father's education achievement. Third, family strength and the self-control showed significant correlation. Forth, the high school students' self-control was influenced by role sharing and problem solving, communication and family bonding and fathers' education achievement. And the high school students' self-control was explained about 15% by these variables. In conclusion, the role of home is important. it is necessary to enhance the education of financial stability and to improve self-control in order to help the students enhance solidity among family and communicate affirmatively.
This study is designed to understand marital relationships of the rural couples in Korea. The primary purposes of this study are to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction and role evaluation of the spouse and to construct a path model in which shows the relationships among background variables, role evaluation of the spouse and marital satisfaction. Structured guestionnaires from 435 couples with school-age children and teenagers living in rural area are analyzed in this study. The major findings are as follows : 1. Factor analysis of the role evaluation of the spouse results I 4 factors for both husbands and wives; emotional support-sexual role child socialization-economic role, kinship role and housekeeping role. 2. The most important factor influencing the marital satisfaction is the role evaluation of the spouse o emotional support-sexual relation. While the number of children, and role evaluations of the spouse influence directly on the marital satisfaction of the wives, age, level of education, level of income and husband's occupation influence indirectly through role evaluations of the spouse on that of wives. 3. For husbands, family life cycle and their occupation influence indirectly on the marital satisfaction of the husbands and the marital satisfaction of them is also mediated by role evaluations of the wieves. Level of income of the family not only influences directly on marital satisfaction but influences on it indirectly. 4. Marital satisfaction is mediated by role evaluations of the spouse. The role evaluation of the spouse on emotional support-sexual relation has the most powerful effect on the marital satisfaction for both wives and husbands. About 60 percent of the variance in the marital satisfaction of rural couples can be explained by the role evaluation of the spouse. therefore, the result of the result of the study indicates that the role evaluation of the spouse on emotional support-sexual relation plays a significant part in determining the marital satisfaction of rural couples.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the dietary life units of Korean and American high school home economics textbook according to Habermas's three systems of action and to find out how the three systems of action are reflected in the learning objectives and activity tasks of the textbook. To achieve this purpose, this study analyzed the learning objectives and activity tasks of the dietary life units in the textbooks of 'technology & home economics' and 'home economics science' in Korea, and 'succeeding in life and career' in America using a content analysis technique based on Habermas's three systems of action. In analyzing the content, each learning objective or activity was matched with one of the three systems of action by examining the context. In some cases, two or more systems of actions were integrated in one activity. This is a case where a series of learning tasks that involve different action system were grouped into one. The numbers of learning objectives and activities of the units of 'technology & home economics', 'home economics science' textbooks of Korean high schools and 'succeeding in life and career' dietary life of American high schools were 3, 26, and 248, respectively. In Korean textbooks, the percentage of communicative action was highest among the three systems, that is, 66.7% for 'technology & home economics' textbooks and 50% for 'home economics science' textbooks. In comparison technical action was the highest in American textbooks at 66.5%. Activities related to technical action included cooking, conducting research on health and food, or conducting experiments. The activities related to communicative action included role play related to health and table manners, or writing reports after conducting surveys or interviewing professionals. The activities related to emancipative action were to social participation activities such as service project in relation to health and food, or to find problems that occur in dietary life and think about be best solution through practical reasoning.
