  • In recent years, there have been many attempts to connect the latest RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology with EIS (Enterprise Information System) and utilize them. However, in most cases the focus is only on the simultaneous multiple reading capability of the RFID technology neglecting the management of massive data created from the reader. As a result, it is difficult to obtain time-related information such as flow prediction and analysis in process control. In this paper, we suggest a new method called 'procedure tree', an enhanced and complementary version of PathTree which is one of RFID data mining techniques, to manage massive RFID data sets effectively and to perform a real-time process control efficiently. We will evaluate efficiency of the proposed system after applying real-time process management system connected with the RFID-based EIS. Through the suggested method, we are able to perform such tasks as prediction or tracking of process flow for real-time process control and inventory management efficiently which the existing RFID-based production system could not have done.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how Pritzker Architecture Prize as a social act has maintained an organic relationship with the architecture, the urban society through the speakings and writings of the laureates of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The composition of this research is to grasp the background of the establishment of Pritzker Architecture Prize and the examination process, to examine its social meaning, and to identify the main flow of words from writings about the laureates through the literature survey and text frequency analysis. And is to interpret the meaning of urban society change and words about the laureates. As a result of the analysis of the flow, it is a tendency to move from ideology and style to newness and innovation, and now to publicity and sociality. Especially in recent years, a wide range of values are floated as much as the complicated issues of urban society and the natural environment. The various architectural activities that make up the urban life became more important than the building units existing like an icon. It is considered possible because the Pritzker Architecture Prize has been awarded for a sustainable common social act. In addition, through literature surveys, have also seen changes in the value of individual laureates, the mixing of styles, and the eclectic aspect. Therefore, the task of reading change should not be a process of finding a new style for a new age, but a task of acknowledging heterogeneity of each architect and recognizing diversity through pluralization.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the normative expectations of positive emotions such as happiness and pride in Korean culture by analyzing the children's textbooks in the Chosen Dynasty period. The method of this study was document analysis and the materials for analysis were 'Dongmongsensp', 'Gyukmongyogyul', 'Myungimbogam', and 'Sohak', that were the textbooks for children's education and invoked the ethics of individual life based on Confucianism. The analysis was focused on the antecedent events, emotional consequences, and emotional regulation in the emotional process of happiness and pride. According to the analysis, happiness was caused by the accomplishment of cultural tasks such as supporting parents, observing laws, being moderate, improving oneself with reading good books, and modeling good deeds, as well as parents' love, which had desirable consequences. Hence, the emotional regulation was to enhance happiness, but far as immoderate experience of happiness, the regulatory rule was expected to suppress it. Also, the antecedents of pride were those demonstrating to have power or occupying a high social position, and the consequences of pride led to self-destruction, and pride was therefore not allowed to be expressed. Consequently, happiness was enhanced because it motivated individuals to accomplish cultural tasks of interdependence, whereas pride was inhibited because it tended to disengage self from social connectedness.

  • The researchers in the field of cognitive science and learning science suggest that the teaching activity induces the elaborative and meaningful learning. Actually, lots of research findings have shown the beneficial effect of learning by teaching such as peer tutoring. But peer tutoring has some limitations in the practical learning context. To overcome some limitations, the new concept of "learning by teaching" through the agent called Teachable Agent. The teachable agent is a modified version of traditional intelligent tutoring system that assigns a role of tutor to teach the agent. The teachable agent monitors individual difference and provides a student with a chance for deep learning and motivation to learn by allowing them to play an active role in the process of learning. That is, The teaching activity induces the elaborative and meaningful learning. This study compared the effects of our teachable agent, KORI, and peer tutoring on the cognition and motivation. The field experiment was conducted to examine whether learning by teaching the teachable agent would be more effective than peer tutoring and reading condition. In the experiment, all participants took 30 minutes lesson on rock and rock cycle together to acquire the base knowledge in the domain. After the lesson, participants were randomly assigned to one of the three experimental conditions; reading condition, peer tutoring condition, and teachable agent condition. Next, participants of each condition moved into separated place and performed their own learning activity. After finishing all of the learning activities in each condition, all participants were instructed to rate the interestingness using a 5-point scale on their own learning activity and leaning material, and were given the comprehension test. The results indicated that the teachable agent condition and the peer tutoring condition showed more interests in the learning than the reading condition. It is suggested that teachable agent has more advantages in overcoming the several practical limitations of peer tutoring such as restrictions in time and place, tutor's cognitive burden, unnecessary interaction during peer tutoring. The applicability and prospects of the teachable agent as an efficient substitute for peer tutoring and traditional intelligent tutoring system were also discussed.

  • The process that one may consciously focuses on necessary stimulation among tremendous amount of stimulation through human sensory systems is called attention in psychology. It is known that the attention can be affected by many factors such as room temperatures, humidity level, etc. In the field of sports science, ice packs are widely used for recovery from exercise fatigue providing fast heat transfer by conduction. However, the effect on attention by so-called iced-pack-cooling has not been tested. This research focuses on the attention levels when one is provided with a special cooling pad on their dorsal and lateral cervices. 40 subjects were divided into four groups and their attention level was evaluated based on the exposure conditions of combinations in reading and light walking with and without the cooling pad. The Frankfruter Aufmerksamkeits-Inventar, FAIR was used to evaluate the attention levels; the performance index, quality index, and continuity index consist of the FAIR test indicating the selectiveness of the attention, correctness of the attention, and maintaining term of the attention, respectively. Analysis of variance was carried out for those variables and post-hoc if applicable. When visual attention is constantly used for reading and studying, application of conductive heat transfer by the cooling pads is significantly helpful for improvement in selectiveness of the attention and maintaining terms of the attention levels. Also, light walking yielded improvement in selectiveness of the attention and maintaining terms of the attention levels; however one should presupposedly consider the loss of reading time.

  • When a Japanese learner in Korea tries to find Japanese dictionary, he must know the pronunciation of the target word. But it's not easy to know the pronunciation of target word from Japanese sentence. Because most of general Japanese sentence shows only HanJa(Chinese character) instead of Kana(Japanese alphabet). If the Japanese learner knows the Korean traditional pronunciation of the target word, he can input the word to electronic Japanese dictionary with the Korean pronunciation. For this solution, the dictionary service provider must convert the Japanese word to Korean pronunciation, in advance. After setting of the conversions as a additional searching process, we can find the target word through Korean pronunciation of the Japanese HanJa, This process is possible for the three reasons below, 1. Korean, Japanese and Chinese are using the nearly same HanJa. The difference is small. 2. Most Japanese learner in Korea, knows the Korean pronunciation of the HanJa. 3. The Korean pronunciation of the HanJa is nearly unique, a HanJa has a Korean pronunciation, generally.

  • The introduction of tracer gas techniques to ventilation studies in indoor environments provides valuable information that used to be unattainable from conventional testing environments. Data acquisition systems (DASs) containing analogue-to-digital (A/D) converters are usually used to function the key role that records signals to storage in digital format. In the testing process, there exist a number of components in the measuring equipment which may produce system-based inference to the monitored results. These unwanted fluctuations may cause significant error in data analysis, especially when non-linear algorithms are involved. In this study, a pre-processor is developed and applied to separate the unwanted fluctuations (noise or interference) in raw measurements and to reduce the uncertainty in the measurement. Moving average, notch filter, FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters, and IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filters are designed and applied to collect the desired information from the raw measurements. Tracer gas concentrations are monitored during leakage and ventilation tests in the model test room. The signal analysis functions are introduced to carry out the digital signal processing (DSP) work. Overall the FIR filters process the $CO_2$ measurement properly for ventilation rate and mean age of air calculations. It is found that, the Kaiser filter was the most applicable digital filter for pre-processing the tracer gas measurements. Although the IIR filters help to reduce the random noise in the data, they cause considerable changes to the filtered data, which is not desirable.

  • In the process of reading, readers can process information not only within the fixated region, known as the fovea, but also in the parafoveal region to the right of the fovea. While the parafoveal semantic preview effect has been confirmed in eye-tracking experiments using boundary techniques, research on how the parafoveal preview effects differ depending on the degree of semantic relatedness is still limited. This study investigates the parafoveal preview effects as a function of semantic relatedness with the target word. The experiment utilized Korean-Chinese bilinguals and presented mixed-language sentences as experimental stimuli. Four parafoveal preview conditions were applied to the target words in each sentence: (1) Korean identical condition, where the parafoveal word was the same as the target word (e.g., "나라," meaning "country" in English), (2) Chinese synonymous condition, where the parafoveal word had the same meaning as the target word (e.g., "国家," also meaning "country" in English), (3) Chinese semantically related condition, where the parafoveal word was semantically related to the target word (e.g., "政权," meaning "political power" in English), and (4) Chinese unrelated condition, where the parafoveal word was semantically unrelated to the target word (e.g., "围裙," meaning "apron" in English). The study explored the parafoveal preview effect in terms of the degree of semantic association with the target word. We found the most pronounced preview effect in conditions where the preview and the target word shared the same meaning, and we also observed preview effects in conditions where the semantic relatedness with the target word was relatively weak. This study suggests that the degree of semantic relatedness between the parafoveal preview word and the target word can influence readers' reading processes. It contributes to a better understanding of readers' eye movements and comprehension processes, with potential implications for the development of effective reading strategies and educational methods.
