  • This paper is about designing the magnetizing system which is used for magnetizing the NdFeB magnet in a squirrel cage rotor. It propose the shape of the magnetizing yoke, the number of coil turn and the capacitor discharging circuit parameter. In case of magnetizing the NdFeB magnet assembled with a squirrel cage rotor, the eddy current which is produced during magnetizing becomes a disturbance in magnetizing NdFeB magnet. Hence in this paper, we try to design optimized magnetizing system with eddy current considered by FEM(Finite Element Method).

  • The ongoing Superconducting Fault Current Limiter(SFCL) development mainly has focused on the application of commercializaton and power system through combining with normal-conducting device, moving away from current-limiting method, which is solely dependant on the existing superconductor. Compared to the structural development above, on the other hand, the research on applying superconducting current-limiting element to SFCL, the heart of SFCL, still has a lot left to do, apart form traditional resistive type SFCL. In this study, we looked into the current limiting characteristic of SFCL using core and coil. YBCO coated conductor with stainless steel stabilizer layer was verified by the excellent of current-limiting element of the resistive type SFCL that has a high Jc and index as well as being superior in mechanical property. Also, we study temperature characteristics and resistance characteristics, max voltage, response time and current-limiting ability that can be an indicator as current-limiting element while applying to superconducting current-limiting element caused by variation of winding direction, winding ratio of SFCL using core and coil.

  • There has been, in recent years, effort to make cast copper rotors for industrial use of induction motors. Because the incorporation of copper for the conductor bars and end rings of the induction motor in place of aluminum would result in attractive improvements in motor energy efficiency. The purpose of this method is a reducing the copper loss as using higher conductivity of copper. In this paper as the single phase induction motor is studied, the stator slots and coil turn number is designed for adjusting the slot fill factor and improving its efficiency. At this time design is basis on calculation of reducing loss. And finally this paper shows that the before and after result is compared and analyzed.

  • In this paper, ozonizer of neon discharge tube type( Neolamp ) by using silent discharge has been designed and manufactured. The discharge and ozone generation characteristics of Neolamp have been studied with variation of turn-on number( N ) of Neolamp, quality( Q ) and shape of external electrode. The discharge voltage is proportional to gap spacing of spiral external electrode( G ) for constant applied volatge. The discharge current is inversely proportional to G for constant applied volatge. The ozone concentration is inversely proportional to Q and G. Also, ozone concentration and generation are proportional to N. The sterilization characteristics of Escherichia coil have been obtained more than 97[%] at $1.30[mg/{\ell}]$ of liquid ozone concentration.

Analysis of Insulation Condition in High Voltage Motor Model Coils (고압전동기 모델 코일의 절연상태 분석)

  • 80pF capacitive couplers were connected to six 6.6kV motor model coil terminals. The voltage applied to the coils were 3.81kv, 4.76 kV and 6.6kV, respectively. These stator coils have various types of artificial insulation defects such as large voids, semi-conductive coating damage and strand insulation fault. Digital PD detector(PDD) and turbine generator analyzer(TGA) were used to measure PD activity. TGA summarizes each plot with two quantities such as the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the peak PD magnitude(Qm). The PD levels in PD were measured with a conventional digital PD detector. Most of the defect mechanism of large motor stator winding can be associated with PD patterns such as internal and slot discharges. PD patterns coincide with PDD and TGA. These instruments have an input bandwidth of 40-400kHz and 0.1-350MHz. Surge testing detects faults in inter-turn winding of high voltage motor model coils.

Expression, Purification and Properties of Shikimate Dehydrogenase from Mycobacterium Tuberculosis

  • Tuberculosis, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, continues to be one of the main diseases to mankind. It is urgent to discover novel drug targets for appropriate antimicrobial agents against this human pathogen. The shikimate pathway is onsidered as an attractive target for the discovery of novel antibiotics for its essentiality in bacteria and absence in mammalian cells. The Mycobacterium tuberculosis aroE-encoded shikimate dehydrogenase was cloned, expressed and purified. Sequence alignment analysis shows that shikimate dehydrogenase of Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibit the pattern of G-X-(N/S)-V-(T/S)-X-PX-K, which is highly conserved within the shikimate dehydrogenase family. The recombinant shikimate dehydrogenase spectrum determined by CD spectroscopy showed that the percentages for $\alpha$-helix, $\beta$-sheet, $\beta$-turn, and random coil were 29.2%, 9.3%, 32.7%, and 28.8%, respectively. The enzymatic characterization demonstrates that it appears to be fully active at pH from 9.0 to 12, and temperature $63^{\circ}C$. The apparent Michaelis constant for shikimic acid and $NADP^+$ were calculated to be about $29.5\;{\mu}M$ and $63\;{\mu}M$. The recombinant shikimate dehydrogenase catalyzes the substrate in the presence of $NADP^+$ with an enzyme turnover number of $399\;s^{-1}$. Zymological studies suggest that the cloned shikimate dehydrogenase from M. tuberculosis has a pretty activity, and the work should help in the discovery of enzyme inhibitors and further of possible antimicrobial agents against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Inducement of Design Parameters for Reliability Improvement of Servo Actuator for Hydraulic Valve Operation (유압밸브 구동용 서보 액추에이터의 신뢰성 향상을 위한 설계 파라미터 도출)

  • The precision hydraulic valve is widely used in various industrial field like aircraft, automobile, and general machinery. Servo actuator is the most important device for driving the precise hydraulic valve. The reliable operation of servo actuator effects on the overall hydraulic system. The performance of servo actuator relies on frequency response and step response according to arbitrary input signal. In this paper, we performed the analysis for the components of servo actuator to satisfy the reliable operation and response characteristics through the reliability analysis, and also induced the design parameters to realize the reliable operation and fast response characteristics of servo actuator for hydraulic valve operation through the empirical knowledge of experts and electromagnetic theories. We suggested the design equations to determine the values of design parameters of servo actuator as like bobbin size, length of yoke and plunger and turn number of coil, and verified the achieved design values through FEM analysis and performance tests using some prototypes of servo actuators adapted in hydraulic valve.
