The purpose of this study was to ascertain the breeding efficiency in Thoroughbred mare. A total of 106 mares were investigated for the status of follicle (462 cases), ovulation (179 cases) and pregnancy (346 cases). Of total examination, 46.8% was follicle measure to determine breeding time, and mating rate per cases examined was 39.9%. There was no correlation between reproductive results and size of follicles or endometrial edema or degrees of teasing alone. 143 cases were ovulated among 179 cases which were performed ovulation examination, and ovulation rate and fertilization rate per mating times were 79.9% and 39.0%, respectively. The use of hCG(human chorionic gonadotropin), to facilitate ovulation, presented to increase occurrence of double ovulations and twin fertilizations In conclusion, though more examination to estimate the optimal breeding time and higher mating rate was performed, fertilization rate per mating times was lower and then reproductive efficiency also became decreased. Therefore, it seemed that accurate examination of reproductive tracks, appropriate teasing programme and hCG administration before ovulation were of help to improve ovulation rate and fertilization rate.
This study was designed to elucidate the anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular, anti-thrombotic and analgesic effects of Shintongchugeotang. The anti-inflammatory effect was measured by the method of carragenin induced edema, protein leakage test using CMC-pouch, and the analgesic effect was measured by the acetic acid method and hot plate method, and the effect of Shintongchugeotang on the cardiovascular system was observed by the change of flow rate of Ringer solution in the vascular system in the ear of rabbit, and the contraction and dilatation of rat tail artery. Death rate, platelet aggregation, plasma coagulation activity was observed for the measurement of the anti-coagurative effect of Shintongchugeotang. The result was as follows : 1. After the administration of Shintongchugeotang extract, Carragenin induced edema and CMC-pouch protein leakage were significantly decreased. 2. The slight analgesic effect of Shintongchugeotang extract was confirmed by the observation of writhing syndrome, paw licking time, and escape time. 3. The drug increased the auricular blood flow in rabbit. 4. The drug relaxed the artery contraction by pretreated norepinephrine in rat. 5. The drug inhibited the death rate of mouse which was led to thromboembolism by serotonin and collagen. 6. The drug inhibited the platelet aggregation in rat. 7. The drug prolonged the prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time on the test of plasma coagulation factor activity in rat, but was not valuable.
This study was designed to elucidate the antiinflammatory, cardiovascular, antithrombotic, and analgesic effect of Sambitang. The anti-inflammatory effects was measured by the method of carrageenin induced edema, protein leakage test using CMC-pouch, and the effect of Whalrakdan on the cardiovascular system was observed by the change of flow rate of Ringer solution in the vascular system in the ear of rabbit. and the contraction and dilatation of rat tail artery. Death rate, platelet aggregation, plasma coagulation activity, antithrombin activity was observed for the measurement of the anti-thrombotic effect of Whalrakdan, and the analgesic effect was measured by the acetic acid method and hot plate method. The result was as follows: 1. After 2 or 3hour of Whalrakdan administration, carrageenin induced edema and CMC-pouch protein leakage was significantly decreased. 2. The slight anagesic effect of Whalrakdan extract was confirmed by the observation of writhing syndrome, paw licking time, and escape time. 3. The droplet of Ringer solution increased according to the increase of concentration of Whalrakdan extract, and the vasoconstriction decreased dependantly to the concentration of Whalrakdan extract. 4. The anti-thrombotic effect of Whalrakdan was observed by the decrease of death rate, the inhibition of platelet aggregation, and the increase of anti-thrombin activity.
In order to investigate experimentally that Bovis Calculus, Ursi Feli Aqua-acupuncture(BUA) have an effect on Adjuvant Arthritis in rats, the author inserted BUA at points corresponding with Chok-samni(ST36) and T'aegye(KI3), and observed an inhibitory rate of edema and pain, variations of White blood cell(WBC), Red blood cell(RBC), Hemoglobin(Hb) in blood. The author also observed the histological changes of joint tissue. The results were as follows : 1. The BUA group during the 6th and 9th were decreased with statistical significance in inhibitory rate of paw edema as compared with the control group. 2. The BUA group during the 3rd and 9th day were decreased with statistical significance in inhibitory rate of pain as compared with the control group. 3. The BUA group during the 3rd, 6th and 9th day were decreased with statistical significance in blood WBC as compared with the control group. The blood RBC and Hb didn't have statistical significance. 4. According to the histological studies, the synovial cells were necrotized at the 3rd, 6th and 9th day control group, but some synovial cells were necrotized at the 3rd day BUA group. The synovial cells of the the 6th and 9th day BUA group were recovered more than that of the 3th day group.
Seaweeds are composed of a variety of bioactive substances, including polysaccharides, pigments, minerals, peptides, and polyphenols. Among these substances, the arsenic content of seaweeds has been a significant cause for concern. The present study evaluated the toxicity of arsenic from three species of seaweed using a zebrafish Danio rerio model. The arsenic-rich extracts were obtained from Ecklonia cava (ECAE), Undaria pinnatifida (UPAE) and Hizikia fusiformis (HFAE) using a solvent of 50% methanol and 1% $HNO_3$. We investigated the toxicity of the arsenic-rich extracts in zebrafish embryos through survival rate, heart rate, yolk sac edema size, cell death, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The hepatotoxicity of arsenic-rich extracts was assessed in the liver of adult zebrafish through real-time PCR and histopathology. The survival rates of embryos and adult zebrafish showed no significant changes at any concentration. At 100 ppm, embryos did not exhibit significant differences in heart rate, yolk sac edema size, cell death or ROS production. In addition, apoptosis-related genes in larvae and liver tissue were unaffected by treatment with arsenic-rich extracts. These data will help clarify that developmental changes, hepatic oxidative stress, and apoptosis are not associated with toxicity from arsenic-rich seaweed extracts in a zebrafish model.

According to oriental clinic effect findings hitherto, Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang has been curative effects on chronic pharnygitis, acute tensillitis and angina. Auther tried to make clear the anti-inflammatory effect on rat paw which has become edema formation by $5\%$ of acetic acid/saline solution, and the analgesic effect on mouse thorough method of acetic acid because the medicine decoction of Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang, Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang, and the extracted powder of Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang are administered to rat and mouse. In present report, anti-inflammatory, analgesic effect of Pilyongbangkamkil-Tang, the extracted powder of the above prescription and Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang were estimated by the above test. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang (liquid), Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang and the extracted powder of Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang were tested for analgesic effects; Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang has the most effective analgesic function, then Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang, then the extracted powder, and I found that the t-test of those above prescriptions, in this order, should come to the result of voluntariness P〈0.001, P〈0.02, and P〈0.05 respectively. 2. Analgesic effects of pilyongbangkamgil-Tang and the extracted powder against the mouse pain induced by acetic acid have been strengthened by increase of double dosage and 4 fold dosage. 3. With Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang and Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang treated for rat, the increasing and the inhibitory rate of rat paw edema formation showed significantly statistical values, and the anti-inflammatory effect of the extracted powder of Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang is not supported so long than Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang. 4. The anti-inflammatory effect of Kamipilyongkamgil-Tang on the edema formed at the rat paw appeared significantly statistical value than the other sample.
Purpose: Vaccum-assisted closure (VAC) has rapidly evolved into a widely accepted treatment of contaminated wounds, envenomations, infiltrations, and wound complications. This results in a sealed, moist environment where tissue is given the opportunity to survive as edema is removed and perfusion is increased. Many plastic surgeons now place a VAC device directly over the fasciotomy site at the time of the initial procedure. Large amounts of the fluid are withdrawn, and fasciotomies can be closed primarily sooner. This study was designed to observe the effect of VAC in preventing complications in snake bitten hands. Methods: In our study of three cases of snake bite, three of them underwent the VAC treatment & fasciotomy of the wound in the hand. This cases, the posterior compartment of the hand was bitten for a few days, releasing incisions were made of the posterior hand and 125 mmHg of continuous vacuum was applied to fasciomy incision site and the biting wound. The dressings were changed three times per week. Results: Our study examining the effects of applied vacuum in preventing snake bite wounds showed that the incidence of tissue necrosis and compartment syndrome was significantly lower for vacuum-treated wounds than for conservative wounds. Serum myoglobin, CK-MB, and CPK levels measured after fasciotomy incision were significantly decreased. We obtained satisfactory results from early dorsal fasciotomy, drainage of the edema with the VAC system, and then primary closure. The postoperative course was uneventful. Conclusion: Envenomation is a term implying that sufficient venom has been introduced into the body to cause either local signs at the site of the bite and/or systemic signs. Use of the vacuum-assisted closure device in snake bite can result in a decreased rate of tissue necrosis, lymphatic fluid collection, hemolytic fluid collection, and edema. Early fasciotomy of the dorsal hand and VAC apply is the alternative treatment of the snake bite.

This research was focused on overall examination of tissue alteration, wound healing promotion. After the hair on the dorsal surface was shaved, $5{\times}5mm$ oval skin defect was formed. Experimental wounds of right side were irradiated on every day for 90 second with Ga-Al-As semi-conductor laser. Left side wounds served as control group. The rats were sacrificed on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 14th, 21th day. For light microscopically, parafin section were stained with H&E, MT. The outcomes were as follows : 1. On 1st day, experimental and control group were seen acute inflammatory cell infiltration, edema. 2. On the 3rd days, both groups were seen crust development, collagen, blood vessel proliferation. 3. On the 5th days, experimental group were reduced edema and inflammatory cell infiltration than control group. 4. On the 7th days, both groups were observed edema, inflammatory cell infiltration disappearance and keratinocytes motility from wound defect. 5. On the 14th days, experimental group appeared collagen, blood vessel proliferation and hair follicle than control group. 6. On the 21th days, both groups were seen normal status re-epithelization. According to the above results, The wound-healing stimulated by laser radiation involves an increased rate of epithelial growth. LLLT was confirmed that it has fibroblast, blood vessel proliferation, influence initial wound healing process.
