Study on correspondent of eastern and western astrology and Jung's psychological types, we obtain as follow as results. Western astrology is transmitted from China and developed, it influenced on the study of the Four Pillars(四柱學). Comparing assemble, gathering, punishment, destruction, collision, impair of Di-zhi(地支) in the study of Four Pillars with Xing-gong theory(星宮論) in the western astrology, can get the result that the Pillars study has close connection with astronomy and astrology. When we compared Jung's psychological types with astrology, the five elements(五行) and the four major factors, can be summarized like this. (1) intuition-fire sign-wood and fire-fire in the four major factors(四大), (2) sensation-earth sign-earth and metal-earth in the four major factors, (3) thinking-air sign-metal and water-wind in the four major factors, (4) feeling-water sign-water and wood-water in the four major factors. The four major factors of Buddhism is now understood as, earth, water and fire represent the state of solid(earth), liquid(water), gas(fire) and wind can be recognized as energy source help the changes. This is mentioned throughout the books, but only arranging the theory of four major factors.

The Calendar(曆法) has been a very important concern in every dynasty of history.『Hyupgiltongui』 written in the Joseon Dynasty included many contents related to the Calendar. In particular, the ancient rule of the Calendar(曆律) shown in the text of 『Hyupgiltongui』 Bonwon chapter one is meaningful in the process of creating the necessary Calendar for selection and reading fortune. Accordingly, we tried to analyze the rule of the Calendar(曆律) that is the fundamental principle of the Calandar(曆法) and the almanac which can be used in real life, based on comparative analysis of 『Hyupgibyeonbangseo』, 『Sanggiltongseo』 and 『Cheongidaeyo』, which are the basis of 『Hyupgiltongui』. Saju Myung-ri is the scheme of time change by the combination of Ganji (Celestial Stems). Therefore, the core of the calendar system is to make four pillars by the year, month, day, and time. For doing this, 『Hyupgiltongui』 provides basic principles and materials for making four pillars using constellations like 28 Fixed Stars, as well as does simple composition principle for telling fortune such as Ten Celestial Stems, Twelve Zodiac Signs, the order of four seasons(四序), Yukjin(六辰) and Sexagenary Cycle (甲曆). However, despite the limitations of the results produced by the rule of the Calendar(曆律), we came to the conclusion that if reading fortune in Saju(四柱簡明) is to find good one(吉) in terms of understanding it as the rule of predicting future(術法) not science, its usefulness cannot be ignored.

The purpose of this study is to examine the validity of Hidden Stems (支藏干) in the Four Pillars of Destiny with regard to the use of human governance periods in the hidden stems (人元用事). First, there is a theory of assigning period of governance for designated constituents (司令論) in the Hidden Stems of the Earthly Branch. Second, there is a theory that determines the structure of the Four Pillars by the Exposed Constituent from the Hidden Stems (透出論) in the Month Earthly Branch. Since these two theories conflict with each other and cause confusions, this study examined the theory of Hidden Stems in the Four Pillars Classics and examined the historical development of governance period for constituent hidden stems and their validity. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, the number of dates assigned to respective constituents does not correspond to the calendarical principle, and the assignment of the governance dates for each constituent does not correspond to the principles proposed in ancient books of Four Pillars. Second, though it is said in the Classics that 72 days are equally assigned to each of the Five Elements, actual distributed days for the five elements was 65 days for Wood, 55 days for Fire, 100 days for Earth, 65 days for Metal, and 65 days for Water. Third, though it is said that 7 days should be designated to Yang Earth Mu for the months of Tiger 寅, Monkey, Snake, and Pig, it is logically more legitimate to assign those days to Yin Earth Ki since the month before Tiger is Ox, and the month before Monkey is Goat. Lastly, rationale behind assigning Ki Earth only to Horse Oh as constituting Hidden Stem while disregarding months of Rat, Rabbit, and Rooster is considered not reasonable. Looking at these results comprehensively, it is concluded that the Exposed Constituent theory is logically more appropriate than Assigned Governance theory.
