  • Market-oriented networks support various tasks in the market domain. We analyze trends in structural changes of such networks to adapt to preferences in general market movements. This analysis is different from conventional ones that focus on specific technologies. Instead, we focus on the paradigm shift of network technology from connectivity functionalities to platforms supporting business domains for direct modeling. Moreover, we analyze current development efforts of technologies based on popular and realistic solutions such as FIWARE, 5GinFIRE, IBN, IDN, and HNSP. Remarkably, we detail HNSP as an open research and development platform to experiment with business models and enable co-building with developers. We observe a clear paradigm shift of communications technology from a closed to an open job-shop style.

  • Given the increasing information overload among users of online review websites, understanding the manner in which cognitive costs are reduced and efficient information is made reliable has become increasingly important. This study targets a unique consumer review design and explores how reviews from an external peer-to-peer site embedded in an online travel agency (OTA) website influence subsequent evaluation behaviors. The empirical results indicate that (1) embedded external reviews with a high average valence tend to strengthen the influence of the positive evaluation ratio while diminishing the effect of the review volume, and (2) embedded external reviews with a large variance strengthen the positive effect of the review volume while weakening the effect of the positive evaluation ratio on subsequent positive evaluations. The findings provide practical insights for consumers and online platforms.

  • The study examines the role of facilitating conditions and user habits in the use of technology in Online Learning Platform (OLP) in Indonesia. The adoption of online learning, persistence, and learning results in online platforms is essential for ensuring that education technology is implemented and gets as much value as possible. People who use technology and systems will embrace new technologies even more. This quantitative study is based on a survey of 254 respondents, who were active users of the technology, and considers the facilitating conditions and user habits variables. Two research hypotheses were tested using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling method. Cronbach's Alpha, path coefficient, AVE, R-square, T-test were applied. The results showed that the factors significantly influence the Online Learning Platform technology behavioral intention. This impact is primarily associated with the availability of the resources required to use OLP technology. The availability of these resources includes supporting infrastructures such as widespread Internet access, easy access to mobile devices, and file sizes that affect access speed. The findings of this study suggest that it is necessary to introduce and increase the availability of resources for using OLP technology, and familiarize people with the technology features.

  • This editorial explores the transformative potential of technology in advancing equitable teaching and learning in mathematics education. The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need for innovative approaches to education, particularly in leveraging technology to create more inclusive and effective learning environments. This special issue focuses on how emerging technologies can deepen students' mathematical proficiencies, shape students' identities, and promote equitable teaching practices. The EqT-tech framework is introduced, highlighting six key dimensions that enhance equitable mathematics education through technology: inquiry-based learning, mathematical identity and agency, formative assessment, collaborative learning, amplification of cognitive processes, and insights into social justice issues. Through a review of seven manuscripts, three recurring themes are identified: the use of technology to develop students' mathematical identity and agency, the role of collaborative platforms in enhancing collective learning, and the expanding nature of emergent technology to increase mathematical rigor as well as awareness for teaching mathematics for social justice exploring inequities within our communities. These studies imply an emphasis on the importance of task design and teacher knowledge in implementing equitable teaching practices, suggesting that technology, when used thoughtfully, can significantly advance equity in mathematics education.

  • Recently, there has been an increase in the number of web-based three-dimensional (3D) printing-related service platforms, which allow consumers to collect 3D modeling data, make requests for production, and receive goods through a distribution service using the service platform. The application of 3D printing technology has been expanded to the construction field, yet no guidelines for the related service platform or operation examples can be found. Therefore, the functions of 10 web-based 3D printing service platforms actively used in other industries were investigated and analyzed in this study, and the analysis results were used as a guideline to develop a 3D printing service platform for the construction industry. In addition, the design, construction and distribution services to be equipped with the construction 3D printing service integration platform were presented by creating the driving scenario of the platform. As 3D printing technology develops, the overall construction and architectural paradigms for design, construction and distribution will change. To prepare for such changes and to pioneer the digital construction market in the future, the role of the 3D printing service platform is expected to increase continually.

  • Cloud computing has become a new paradigm by enabling on-demand provisioning of applications, platforms or computing resources for clients. Workflow scheduling has always been treated as one of the most challenging problems in clouds. Commercial clouds have been widely used in scientific research, such as biology, astronomy and weather forecasting. Certainly, it is very important for a cloud service provider to pursue the profits for the commercial essence of clouds. This is also significantly important for the case of providing services to workflow tasks. In this paper, we address the issues of workflow scheduling in commercial clouds. This work takes the communication into account, which has always been ignored. And then, a topology-based workflow-scheduling algorithm named Resource Auction Algorithm (REAL) is proposed in the objective of getting more profits. The algorithm gives a good performance on searching for the optimum schedule for a sample workflow. Also, we find that there exists a certain resource amount, which gets the most profits to help us get more enthusiasm for further developing the research. Experimental results demonstrate that the analysis of the strategies for most profits is reasonable, and REAL gives a good performance on efficiently getting an optimized scheme with low computing complexity.

  • Health technology assessment (HTA) is defined as multidisciplinary policy analysis to look into the medical, economic, social, and ethical implications of the development, distribution, and use of health technology. Following the recent changes in the social environment, there are increasing needs to improve Korea's healthcare environment by, inter alia, assessing health technologies in an organized, timely manner in accordance with the government's strategies to ensure that citizens' medical expenses are kept at a stable level. Dedicated to HTA and research, the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA) analyzes and provides grounds on the clinical safety, efficacy, and economic feasibility of health technologies. HTA offers the most suitable grounds for decision making not only by healthcare professionals but also by policy makers and citizens as seen in a case in 2009 where research revealed that glucosamine lacked preventive and treatment effects for osteoarthritis and glucosamine was subsequently excluded from the National Health Insurance's benefit list to stop the insurance scheme from suffering financial losses and citizens from paying unnecessary medical expenses. For the development of HTA in Korea, the NECA will continue exerting itself to accomplish its mission of providing policy support by health technology reassessment, promoting the establishment and use of big data and HTA platforms for public interest, and developing a new value-based HTA system.
