  • This study aims to investigate the effect of early childhood teachers' mathematical attitude on their mathematics teaching efficacy and to prove the moderating role of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) in mathematics, which we selected based upon previous literatures. To explore the effect of early childhood teachers' mathematical attitude on their mathematics teaching efficacy and the moderating role of PCK in mathematics between them, This study randomly sampled 500 early childhood teachers who work at child care centers and kindergartens in Seoul, Kyunggi province and Kangwon province and collected their responses by questionnaires. Mathematics teaching efficacy was measured with mathematics teaching efficacy scale for early childhood teachers developed by Luo (2000) and translated by Jung (2001a). Mathematical attitude was measured with Smith (2000)'s scale which we translated for this study. To measure the pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics, we revised Hong(2012)'s scale to be applicable for early childhood teachers. Direct effect of mathematical attitude on mathematics teaching efficacy and the moderating effect of PCK in mathematics were analyzed by multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS 21.0. Study results demonstrated the significant direct effect of mathematical attitude on mathematics teaching efficacy. Also, the moderating effect of PCK in mathematics was also proved to be significant. That is, if the teacher has high level of pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics, the positive effect of mathematical attitude on mathematics teaching efficacy was even more enhanced. This results supports the current finding where PCK in mathematics functions as a moderating variable between mathematical attitude and mathematics teaching efficacy. Thus, our study is expected to provide relevant contents that should be covered during teacher education, which aims to improve early childhood teachers' mathematics teaching efficacy.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine differences in multicultural early childhood teaching activities according to the general characteristics of early childhood teachers, to analyze the relationships and effects of early childhood teachers' happiness, variables of attitudes toward the teaching profession, and variables of multicultural teaching, and ultimately to identify variables related to early childhood teachers that explain multicultural early childhood teaching activities. For this study, 270 teachers in charge of young children from multicultural families at early childhood education institutions were sampled. When the 'age' variable, which might affect multicultural teaching activities, was excluded and the relationships among early childhood teachers' variables as independent variables were analyzed, happiness and obsessive passion were found to have an effect on multicultural teaching activities. These findings suggest that early childhood teachers' happiness and passion for teaching needs to be enhanced as an effort to set the direction of multicultural education fit for the characteristics of Korea in the field of early childhood education, where the foundation of culture is laid and prejudices are easily formed.

  • Recently, as the programming education has become essential in school, discussion of how to teach programming has been important. This study performed a meta-analysis of the effect size depending on the teaching and learning method for the programming education. 78 research data selected from 45 papers were analyzed from cognitive and affective aspects according to dependent variables. The analysis from the cognitive aspect showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the effect size depending on whether or not the teaching and learning method was specified in the research paper. Meta-analysis of the research data where the teaching and learning method was designated displayed significances in CPS, PBL and Storytelling. Unlike the cognitive aspect, the analysis from the affective aspect showed that the effect size of the research data without the specified teaching and learning method was larger than those with specified teaching and learning method with a statistical significance. Meta-analysis of the data according to the teaching and learning method displayed no statistical significance. Based upon these research results, this study suggested implications for the effective programming education.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop learning materials for functional concept on variable and to verify the effect of how well students could learn functional concept after they studied with those materials. To accomplish the purpose of this study, I developed learning materials and after teaching students with them. I have concluded the followings : First, there was little effect in teaching functional concept on variable between two experimental groups, whereas teaching functional concept had greater effect on forming functional concept in high level groups in those two experimental groups. Second, teaching functional concept on variable had little effect on students' understanding of functional concept and perfecting tables in Black box, graph, and mathematical problems, whereas there was much effect in students' understanding functional concept and solving relation formula, image, and range problems related to everyday life or general things. On the basis of the problems which appeared in the process of this study, the following can be suggested : First, we should develop learning materials fit for low level students so that they could understand functional concept. Second, we should continue to teach the basic problems like solving relation formula, image, and range, and understanding functional concept in graph until students are able to understand them exactly. Third, since the goals of Unit Function in a middle school textbook is to solve problems related to everyday life through functional thinking, there should be change in constructing systematic contents of Unit Function in a middle school textbook.

  • This study is to apply the Havruta teaching-learning method to college students' major classes and analyze the relationship between the effectiveness evaluation of communication skills and sub-factors using a structural equation model. As a result of the study, the communication ability score was different before and after Havruta teaching-learning, and it was found that after Havruta teaching-learning was higher than before Havruta teaching-learning. The path effect was found to be significant in all of the total, direct, and indirect effects among latent variables, except for the relationship between interpretation ability, role-playing ability, and goal-setting ability in the direct effect. In this study, it was found that the Havruta teaching-learning method not only improves creativity and thinking ability, but also improves self-directed learning ability. In addition, it was reconfirmed that it is a teaching-learning method that can develop social skills and communication skills as well as problem-solving skills while experiencing opinions different from one's own. As a result, research on a thorough student-centered teaching-learning method suitable for the Homo Machina era must be continued and its application in the educational field must be implemented.

  • This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching or studying programs, and thus to overcome the selectionbias in studies. Selection-bias derived from unobservable characteristics in the course of participants selection of the teaching or studying programs, in the case of cross-section data instrumental variable(IV) method and two stage least square estimation were suggested as an analysis tool. Panel data were analyzed by using both fixed effect in which individual effects are captured by intercept terms and random effect estimation where an unobserved effect can be characterized as being randomly drawn from a given distribution.

  • The purpose of this study is to use meta-analysis as a research method to investigate the correlation between early child teachers' teaching efficacy and their job satisfaction, and thereby look into the effect size of the two variables and their sub-variables. To achieve the purpose, this researcher chose a total of 37 theses for analysis and collected 289 data for analyzing the effect size. Based on the data, CMA(Comprehensive Meta Analysis) 2.0 was applied. According to the analysis, the correlation between early childhood teachers' teaching efficacy and their job satisfaction was higher than the medium effect size on the basis of Cohen(1992) research. In the sub-variables of teaching efficacy, the correlation of personal teaching efficacy with job satisfaction showed higher effect size than that of general teaching efficacy. In the sub-variables of job satisfaction, the correlation between the belief in job and teaching efficacy showed the highest effect size. In terms of thesis type as a moderating variable, Ph.D dissertations showed higher effect size than journals or M.A. theses. As the result of the meta-analysis on publishing year and the number of samples, there was no statistical significance. On the basis of the analysis results, discussions and limitations of this study were suggested.
