  • This review examined trends in research on the assessment of Korean children's story comprehension. Specific areas that were analyzed included types of questions asked in the assessment and variables treated as relevant to the assessment of story comprehension. Literal, inferential, and critical questions were identified. Among the 33 studies reviewed, 20 used all 3 types of questions, the other 13 used only literal questions. The studies using only literal questions interpreted comprehension of a story as "comprehension of letters and/or components of a story." The other studies interpreted it as "comprehension of implied meaning of a story." Other relevant variables were "teaching strategies" (29 studies) and "structural components" (4 studies). None of the studies treated "children's internal variables related to story comprehension."

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the environmental worldviews of middle school students. An instrument to survey environmental worldviews consists two components; 'Human and Environment', and 'Human Behaviors and Environmental Problems' The two components are three environmental worldviews as follows: 'Technocentrism', 'Ecocentrism', 'and Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development(ESSD)'Subjects were 551 middle school students in metropolitan area and rural district(male: 285, female: 266). Most of middle school students had the environmental worldview of the ESSD. More female students had a tendency ESSD worldview than males. More male students had the positive Technocentrism than females. More middle school students in metropolitan area had ecocentrism than those in rural district. Understandings of students' environmental worldviews will be helpful to work out teaching and learning strategies in environmental education.

  • In many areas of technology there are machines and systems controllable in up to six degrees of freedom. Helicopters and underwater vehicles, industrial robots are among the first representatives of this category. They need six degrees of freedom in order to move and orient within their workspace. An even broader and more explosively growing area is 3D computer graphics and virtual environment. In this work, functions of 3D input device are described and two types of commercial 3D input device are presented. Then, a preliminary experiment of a low cost 6 axis force/moment sensor is presented that can also be sued as a 3D input device. A low cost force/moment sensor and its application in robot teaching experiment is described. It computes the direction of 3 components of the force and 3 components of the moment applied by human holding the sensor by hand. The concept is shown by an experiment where the tool position and orientation of a robot in 3 dimensional space is controlled by the proposed sensor.

  • Family and child educators have an obligation to ensure that their students understand, conceptually and pragmatically, the major research methods. The purpose of this study was to develop a qualitative methodology course for graduate students majoring in family and child studies. Three stages of course development were followed; investigating how methodology courses are offered in family and child studies, discussing what topics and components should be covered in a qualitative methodology course, and planning how the topics and components should be taught. The proposed qualitative methodology course includes; understanding philosophical and theoretical frameworks, teaming the general process of a qualitative research, comparing different qualitative traditions of inquiry, discussing emerging issues related to qualitative research, and conducting experimental field work. This study can provide an academic syllabus for family and child educators, who are interested in teaching a qualitative methodology course for graduate students.

  • This study was attempted to secure basic data for planning an efficient educational direction by phenomenologically analyzing what they experience as educators by allowing learners to plan and conduct education directly. Participants in the study were eight who voluntarily expressed their intention to participate in the study after taking health education classes between the ages of 20 and 30. Interviews for the study were conducted three times per participant from December 18, 2023 to January 5, 2024, and took an average of 1 hour or more per session. The meaning of the experience of actually carrying out health education derived from Giorgi's phenomenological analysis procedure consists of 5 components(difficult and lacking, confusion and burden, regretful, change, oppurtinity), 11 sub-components, and 37 semantic units. What stands out from the experience of directly teaching is that the participants gained confidence as educators. Based on the results of this study, in order to achieve efficient education, it is suggested to allow learners to conduct classes directly.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relational components of parent education curriculum for college students and home economics curriculum for middle and high school students in Korea. The continuity and hierarchy of the parent education curriculum for college students and the 'human development and family' domain of home economics curriculum for middle and high school students were examined. The major findings were as follows. First, the components of 'human development and family' domain of middle school home economics curriculum in 2015 revision were considerably related with the components of parent education curriculum for college students. Second, the components of 'human development and family' domain of high school home economics curriculum in 2015 revision were considerably related with the components of parent education curriculum for college students. Third, the components of 'human development and family' domain in middle and high school home economics curriculum in 2015 revision and parent education curriculum for college students showed a hierarchical pattern in range and depth of contents. On the basis of these findings, the effectiveness of teaching parent education in middle and high school curriculum was discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope the teaching materials of career education for the 'Information and Communication Technology and Our Life' unit in the technology education. As preparation phase, in order to choose the suitable contents for career education, we analyzed the technology education curriculum and 'Information and Communication Technology and our Life' unit of technology and home economics. And then we compared and analyzed the existing related researches. After content analysis of the teaching materials for career education, we mapped the contents into career education area. In the 'Design' step of teaching, we extracted the unit design components after analyzing 'Development in Information and Communication Technology' unit of eleven text books used in 2007 revised curriculum In the 'Introduction', 'Activity', 'Arrangement' steps of teaching, by applying the SHIP model, one of career education program model, we develop the teaching materials. Then, we get expert evaluation using questionnaire and improve the suitability of the teaching materials. The results are as followings: First, our teaching materials reflect the development history of information and communication technology well, show the features of career education, and are suitable to middle school students as the teaching materials. Second, our teaching materials can help students to face various jobs related with the development of Information and communication technology, to have more interests and exploring opportunities about 'Information and Communication Technology' subject. Third, our teaching materials can help teachers to use it for the career education of 'Information and Communication Technology and our Life' unit of 2007 revised curriculum in the class time. Our teaching materials can also be used in the extra activity related to career education and the Creative Experience Activities. Furthermore, since 2009 revised curriculum includes the career education unit in the 'Information and Communication Technology' subject, our teaching materials can be used partially as the teaching materials in the future.

  • The purpose of this study was to make valuable suggestions for improving environmental education(EE) teaching materials. For the purpose of this study, we analyzed four secondary school EE textbooks in the perspective of environmental literacy components. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) As a whole, the EE textbooks tend to focus the understanding environmental knowledge much more than environmental activities. (2) In 'main text' domain of EE textbooks, environmental information, including environmental issue knowledge, is much more focused than environmental attitudes and behavior, including socio-political and environmental issue knowledge. (3) In 'graphic data' domain, environmental information about environmental issue knowledge was most prevalent. (4) Most learning activities focus on 'issue skill' component, rather than 'attitude' and 'action' component. (5) The objectives of EE in the 7th national Curriculum were not explicitly embedded in textbooks and too much is inclined toward 'knowledge' and 'skill'. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop 'module-type' EE textbooks to enable integrative EE. Also, it is suggested to develop specific strategies for linking environmental knowledge and attitude/behavior.

  • The purposes of this study are to understand the relationship between training program components and training performance in public sector. Training program components(training planning, trainer's teaching ability, trainee's motivation to learn, training contents) and the social support(superior's support, peer's support) that are supposed to affect the training performance were chosen by the literature review. There are 20 hypotheses based on literature reviews and tested by the data from questionnaires. It is turned out to be partly significant positive relationship between the training program components and training performance. The contribution and limitations of this research were discussed, and the future researches were mentioned.
