The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience of pre-service mathematics teachers who attended at a university course combined with teaching practicum based on design thinking process to identify the change of their awareness of its activities. For the research, 8 pre-service mathematics teachers participated in a mathematics major course, consisting of 5 phases of design thinking formed by Stanford d.school. In the end of the course, qualitative data were collected through individual and focus group interviews and the course activities. By data analysis, the results of this study were as follows. Firstly, the participants' perspectives of design thinking activities were changed from the difficulty and ambiguity of its activity in the beginning of the process to positiveness with competence of solving authentic problem in terms of teaching practicum over time. Secondly, the participating pre-service teachers emphasized that design thinking activities helped them prepare well teaching practicum and raise understanding of students they met in the school fields. Thirdly, some research participants went through the difficulty in utilizing their products drawn from 4th phase (prototyping) of design thinking process depending on the acceptance of their guidance teachers. Fourthly, the research participants also pointed out that the design thinking was a significant activity in that they learned how to understand and communicate with their students and how to collaborate with team members and it gave an insight about the preparation for a class. Through these results, this study identified the possibility of using the design thinking process for pre-service mathematics teachers' teaching practicum. In addition, the research put forward some implications for better use of design thinking in teacher education.

For teaching division more effectively, it is necessary to know students' informal knowledge before they learned formal knowledge about division. The purpose of this study is to research students' informal knowledge of division and to analyze meaningful suggestions to link formal knowledge of division in elementary school mathematics. According to this purpose, two research questions were set up as follows: (1) What is the students' informal knowledge before they learned formal knowledge about division in elementary school mathematics? (2) What is the difference of thinking strategies between students who have learned formal knowledge and students who have not learned formal knowledge? The conclusions are as follows: First, informal knowledge of division of natural numbers used by grade 1 and 2 varies from using concrete materials to formal operations. Second, students learning formal knowledge do not use so various strategies because of limited problem solving methods by formal knowledge. Third, acquisition of algorithm is not a prior condition for solving problems. Fourth, it is necessary that formal knowledge is connected to informal knowledge when teaching mathematics. Fifth, it is necessary to teach not only algorithms but also various strategies in the area of number and operation.

Higher educational institutions face an increasing demand for developing a renewed set of competencies of college students who will live in the knowledge-based society. However, relatively little is known about what constitutes the core competencies that college students need to develop and how we can improve them. Nine categories of core competencies required for college graduates were drawn from the previous research and examples of core competencies developed by other institutions. They are analytic thinking skills, problem-solving skills, communicating skills, collaborative working skills, and etc. A reading guidance course for strengthening core competencies, developed based on the teaching and learning methods was adapted to students of LIS for one semester. Implications of these and related findings are discussed.
The purpose of this study is to identify core elements required of instruction consulting and to develop a systematic consulting procedure for successful Flipped Learning. The main contents of this study to achieve its purpose are as follows. First, core elements required of consulting are deduced by analyzing cases of instruction implemented with Flipped Learning. Second, consulting procedure is constructed based on core consulting elements of Flipped Learning. Based on the study results, the 3P process is suggested as the elements and procedure of instruction consulting for Flipped Learning. The 3P process has the following characteristics. The first stage Preparation involves guiding students to have an objective viewpoint about the lesson beginning with building a relationship with the instructor. Also, a lesson plan and source materials for lesson are selected and developed. The second stage Performance involves implementing lesson coaching oriented towards cooperative problem-solving to find better direction. The last stage Post-review involves introspection necessary for continuous quality improvement of lessons. The validity of the instruction consulting elements for Flipped Learning applied to deduce the aforementioned results has been verified after specialist review and field application.
Computers can intensify the students' motivation and understanding about the solution to the problems in class, therefore, computers can be the most appropriate educational tools for the study of problem solving and have been also recognized as a representable study method in the information age, which can pass on various educational experience to the right place at the right time. Mutimedia producing tool helps us develop and maintain the educational courseware by way of using general technology of multimedia system. In this thesis, it presents the efficient development process of educational software by using mutimedia producing tool, its educational advantages and problems, and its future progress direction as well.
The purpose of this study is to analyze error patterns third-year middle school students make on quadratic function graph problems and to examine about the possible correct them by providing supplementary tutoring. To exam the error patterns that occur during problem solving processes, to 82 students, We provided 25 quadratic function graph problems in the preliminary-test. The 5 types of errors was conceptual errors, false intuition errors, incorrect use of conditions in problems, technical errors, and errors from slips or carelessness. Statistical analysis of the preliminary-test and post-test shows that achievement level was higher in the post-test, after supplementary tutoring, and the t-test proves this to be meaningful data. According to the per subject analyses, the achievement level in the interest of symmetry, parallel translation, and general graph, respectively, were all higher in the post-test than the preliminary-test and this is meaningful data as well. However, no meaningful relation could be found between the preliminary-test and the post-test on other subjects such as graph remodeling and relations positions of the parabola. For the correction of errors, try the appropriate feedback and various teaching and learning methods.
Logic lays the foundation of Mathematics and the development of Mathematics is dependent on critical thinking. So it is important that school mathematics helps students develop their logical and critical thinking ability for both mathematics learning and problem solving in general. MINDSTORMS, a LEGO based programming activity kit, is an effective teaching and learning tool that can be used to enhance logical and critical thinking in students. This study focused on measuring the growth of students' ability to think logically and critically when they used MINDSTORMS activities to learn programming. In addition, we investigated how the students' logical and critical thinking changed from the MINDSTORMS learning experience. The study confirmed that the programming activities using MINDSTORMS help to enhance logical and critical thinking in students. The students attitude about logical and critical thinking became more positive and the activities helped to engage students to think logically and critically. This type of programming activities should be valuable in mathematics education and it should be included in a general mathematics curriculum.
Purpose: To examine the applicability of a team-based learning using reflection journal in Women's Health Nursing for nursing students. Methods: This study had a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design. Participants were 140 third-year undergraduate nursing students who agreed to participate in this study. The experimental group (n=70) received twice team-based learning using reflection journal about pregnancy nursing course while the control group (n=70) received only team-based learning. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, and independent t-test using SPSS 23.0 program. Results: Compared to the control group, the experimental group reported significant positive changes in critical thinking (t=2.03, p=.044). Problem-solving, self-leadership, or academic self-efficacy of nursing college students was not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: Team-based learning using reflection journal is an effective teaching strategy to enhance critical thinking of nursing students.
