  • This study analyzed the perceptions of elementary and secondary school teachers regarding the importance of SW/AI education in fostering students' fundamental knowledge and the necessity of integrating SW/AI into education. A total of 830 elementary and secondary school teachers were selected as study subjects using the judgment sampling method. The analysis of survey data revealed that elementary and secondary teachers exhibited a strong awareness of the importance and necessity of SW/AI education, irrespective of school characteristics, region, educational experience, or prior involvement in SW and AI education. Nevertheless, the primary reasons for not implementing SW/AI education were identified as excessive workload and a lack of pedagogical expertise. An analysis of opinions on the essential conditions for implementing SW/AI education revealed that workload reduction, budget support, teacher training to enhance teacher competency, content distribution, expansion of subject-linked courses, and dedicated instructional time allocation were the major influencing factors. These findings indicate a significant demand for comprehensive instructional support and teacher capacity-building programs.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the perceptions of SW education among elementary, middle and high school students, parents, and teachers, and to identify the variables that influence the perception of SW education. For this study, a total of 50 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, and 8 high schools were selected from the stratified sampling method, and an online survey was conducted for students, parents, and teachers. According to the results, the questionnaires of 2,231 students, 615 parents, and 173 teachers were analyzed. According to the results of the study, students, parents, and teachers who had experienced SW leading schools had a high awareness of SW education, and school-level students showed higher recognition in the order of elementary, middle, and high school. As a result of analyzing the difference of perception according to the characteristics of the study subjects, the students were more aware of the fact that male students, students who participated in SW-related club activities, students who participated in SW-related competitions, higher class times of the desired. In the case of parents, the parents of male students, parents who taught SW-related educational activities outside the school, and the parents with high hopes had high awareness. In the case of teachers, the higher the educational experience of SW, the higher the students' perception of the desired time of 2 hours. As a result of analyzing the influence of the characteristics of the subjects on the perception through the multiple regression analysis, the students 'and parents' awareness and the degree of hemming on the SW-related education were found to have a positive effect. In addition, teacher awareness and SW education career were found to have a positive effect.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine teachers' stages of concern and levels of use about SW education based on Concerns-Based Adoption Model and to provide implications for teacher education. For this purpose, 152 survey responses were collected from elementary school teachers in South Korea. The result indicated that elementary school teachers' concerns about SW education showed the nonuser pattern in that teachers score highest in stage 0(awareness) to stage 2(personal) and in stage 6(refocusing). Additionally, teachers who are currently implementing SW education showed a tendency to be in the level of mechanical use or routine, and more than half of the teachers who are not implementing SW education showed no motivation to change current practices. There were statistically significant differences in the stages of concern depending on gender, teaching experience, SW training experience, SW teaching experience, and there were differences in the levels of use depending on the teachers' grade level in charge, SW training experience, and SW teaching experience. Based on the results of the research, various SW related programs as well as successful SW education experience for teachers need to be provided for teacher education in order to promote SW education.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the current status of elementary pre-service teachers' concern on SW education using the Concern-Based Adoption Model, and to investigate issues to be considered in pre-service teacher education. The participants were 137 senior students enrolled in a university of education. A survey was conducted using the Stages of Concerns Questionnaire(SoCQ). Elementary pre-service teachers' concern on SW education was turned out to be the highest at the awareness stage, and the lowest at the consequence stage, and thus showed the 'nonuser' pattern. It also showed a 'positive nonuser' pattern by indicating a little more concern at the collaboration and refocusing stages than the consequence stage concerning the impact of SW education. In addition, no significant difference was found according to pre-service teachers' gender. In comparison with that, significant differences were found according to their programming level at the awareness, personal, consequence and collaboration stages. Based on the results of the research, suggestions were made for the improvement of the pre-service teachers' SW education program concerning the presentation of related information and the enhancement of programming capabilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest implications for early childhood SW·AI education considering the characteristics of early childhood education through a survey on SW·AI education in kindergartens. For this study, data were collected from 194 kindergartens through convenience sampling. The data was analyzed using frequency distribution, and it was found that 44% of kindergartens are conducting SW·AI education. 22% are conducting SW·AI education in the form of regular curriculum, and 70% are conducting SW·AI education in the form of special activities after school. SW·AI education was found to be conducted mainly by external instructors (97%) in the classroom (80%). For SW·AI education, block coding-based programs developed by companies such as Naver and the Clova were used, and all of these programs used programs and teaching aids in a package format, including teaching aids and materials developed by companies. 56% answered that they are not currently conducting SW/AI education, and lack of awareness on SW·AI education and lack of human/environmental infrastructure were the main factors. In order to realize SW·AI education considering the characteristics of early childhood education based on this survey, First, SW·AI education programs should be developed to develop play-centered computational thinking skills. Second, systematic teacher education at the national level should be conducted. Finally, the establishment of a department dedicated to early childhood SW·AI consisting of early childhood education experts and SW·AI education experts and financial support at the national level should be provided.

  • Even though software (SW) education has not been considered part of the current national kindergarten curriculum, in practice there is growing interest in adopting it. Teachers would be expected to play a key role in the successful introduction and implementation of new educational changes, such as SW education. In preparation for its adoption in ECE, it would be useful to determine ECE teachers' perception and attitudes toward early childhood software education. For this study, 219 ECE teachers' level of concern toward SW education was surveyed using the Stages of Concern Questionnaire. It was found that the teachers' level of concern was the highest at stage 0-Unconcerned and that they had high levels of stage management, personal and informational concern. Thus, a non-user pattern was mostly indicated. However, compared to the typical non-user pattern, the pattern aspect close to critical non-user ever appeared to some extent. In addition, a significant difference in the level of concern was shown at all stages depending on the awareness of the necessity for SW education. The teachers with SW training experience showed a higher intensity only at stage 0. There was a statistically significant difference in stages 0 and 6 depending on the future implementation decision. These results will be utilized as a resource in building an ECE teachers' support system according to their level of concern about SW education.
