This paper proposes a design formulae that evaluates the design strength of T-joints made of cold-formed square hollow steel sections with longitudinal branch plate. The T-joints had a configuration that a branch member used to longitudinal plate to the main chord in the plane. This study focused on the branch plate T-joints governed by the main chord flange failure mode among the experimental results. Based on the test results of the longitudinal branch plate T-joint in the square hollow sections, the ultimate strength on the T-joints was defined as 1.5 times the load at 1% B the strength of joints that governed the serviceability in control for $16.7{\leq}2\gamma(B/T){\leq}31.3$ and $0.20{\leq}{\beta}(b1/B){\leq}0.75$. Existing yield line models for normal T-joints were investigated to be the main chord flange failure for the branch plate T-joint, and this proposal design formula was based on the theory of the yield line model. Finally, the value of the finite element method compared with the value of the test and theory for the T-joints verified the validity of the design formulae.
Background: To investigate polymorphisms in heat shock proteins A1B and A1L (HOM) and associated risk of oesophageal carcinoma in Northeast India. Materials and Methods: The study includes oesophageal cancer (ECA) patients attending general outpatient department (OPD) and endoscopic unit of Gauhati Medical College. Patients were diagnosed based on endoscopic and histopathological findings. Genomic DNA was typed for HSPA1B1267 and HSPA1L2437 SNPs using the polymerase chain reaction with restriction fragment length polymorphisms. Results: A total of 78 cases and 100 age-sex matched healthy controls were included in the study with a male: female ratio of 5:3 and a mean age of $61.4{\pm}8.5years$. Clinico-pathological evaluation showed 84% had squamous cell carcinoma and 16% were adenocarcinoma. Dysphagia grades 4 (43.5%) and 5 (37.1%) were observed by endoscopic and hispathological evaluation. The frequency of genomic variation of A1B from wild type A/A to heterozygous A/G and mutant G/G showed a positive association [chi sq=19.9, p=<0.05] and the allelic frequency also showed a significant correlation [chi sq=10.3, with cases vs. controls, OR=0.32, $p{\leq}0.05$]. The genomic variation of A1L from wild T/T to heterozygous T/C and mutant C/C were found positively associated [chi sq=7.02, p<0.05] with development of ECA. While analyzing the allelic frequency, there was no significant association [chi sq=3.19, OR=0.49, p=0.07]. Among all the risk factors, betel quid [OR=9.79, Chi square=35.0, p<0.05], tobacco [OR=2.95, chi square=10.6, p<0.05], smoking [OR=3.23, chi square=10.1, p<0.05] demonstrated significant differences between consumers vs. non consumers regarding EC development. Alcohol did not show any significant association [OR=1.34, chi square=0.69, p=0.4] independently. Conclusions: It can be concluded that the present study provides marked evidence that polymorphisms of HSP70 A1B and HSP70 A1L genes are associated with the development of ECA in a population in Northeast India, A1B having a stronger influence. Betel quid consumption was found to be a highly significant risk factor, followed by smoking and tobacco chewing. Although alcohol was not a potent risk factor independently, alcohol consumption along with tobacco, smoking and betel nut was found to contribute to development of ECA.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the needs for eco t-shirts of the new elderly consumers and to suggest strategies for eco t-shirts product development and marketing. Quantitative research was employed for research method. The data was collected from men and women in their age of 50-65, who lived in Busan, Ulsan, and Kyungnam province, during October, 2011. Based on the results, the vision of eco tshirts market for the new elderly consumers was positively prospected. In conclusion, specific strategies for eco t-shirts products development and marketing were suggested. Product development focused on practicality and material, design development reflecting consumers' preference, multipurpose product development, building up the product recognition, and moderate price strategy were suggested.
Purpose: This study investigated the effects of the Seogeum therapy among college students with allergic rhinitis. Method: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest non-synchronized design was used. Intervention of Seogeum therapy has been performed from March 2 through March 31, 2017. Sixty college students diagnosed with allergic rhinitis from two different colleges in B and K cities were assigned to the experimental and control group. Data analysis were conducted using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and t-test. Results: There were significant differences in nose itching (t=4.89, p<.001), sneezing (t=6.26, p<.001), watery rhinorrhea (t= 4.09, p<.001), nasal congestion (t=2.36, p=.022), the percent of eosinophil (t=2.01, p=.049), perceived stress (t=2.05, p=.045), and allergic rhinitis related quality of life (t=4.33, p<.001) between the two groups. However, there were no significant differences in the percent of IgE (t=0.60, p=.553) and level of cortisol (t=0.53, p=.598). Conclusion: The results of this study indicates that the self-management of Seogeum therapy improved physical and psychological status of the college students with allergic rhinitis which ultimately improved their quality of life.

This study aimed to enhance the design of cropped t-shirts to improve fit satisfaction among women in their 20s by tailoring the t-shirts to diverse body types. Body types were categorized using Size Korea's 8th Human Body Measurement Data, and statistical analysis was conducted based on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (version 26.0). This study also reviewed the literature on t-shirts and fit, the application of pattern and design improvements for different body types, verifying fit and size for each body type, and applying virtual fit effects using geometric forms. Frequency analysis and non-parametric verification were conducted using the Friedman test. The results showed that t-shirts with a horizontal rectangular shape was an effective design and that t-shirts with an inverted triangular structure also had a positive effect. In contrast, square t-shirts exhibited minimal effectiveness. These findings are expected to contribute to the consideration of customized shapes according to body type in t-shirt design. Research on customized virtual cropped t-shirts reflecting various body types can expand fit satisfaction studies, particularly amid the increasing trend of online shopping.
Presence of torsional loadings can significantly affect the flow of internal forces and deformation capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) columns. It increases the possibility of brittle shear failure leading to catastrophic collapse of structural members. This necessitates accurate prediction of the torsional behaviour of RC members for their safe design. However, a review of previously published studies indicates that the torsional behaviour of RC members has not been studied in as much depth as the behaviour under flexure and shear in spite of its frequent occurrence in bridge columns. Very few analytical models are available to predict the response of RC members under torsional loads. Softened truss model (STM) developed in the University of Houston is one of them, which is widely used for this purpose. The present study shows that STM prediction is not sufficiently accurate particularly in the post cracking region when compared to test results. An improved analytical model for RC square columns subjected to torsion with and without axial compression is developed. Since concrete is weak in tension, its contribution to torsional capacity of RC members was neglected in the original STM. The present investigation revealed that, disregard to tensile strength of concrete is the main reason behind the discrepancies in the STM predictions. The existing STM is extended in this paper to include the effect of tension stiffening for better prediction of behaviour of square RC columns under torsion. Three different tension stiffening models comprising a linear, a quadratic and an exponential relationship have been considered in this study. The predictions of these models are validated through comparison with test data on local and global behaviour. It was observed that tension stiffening has significant influence on torsional behaviour of square RC members. The exponential and parabolic tension stiffening models were found to yield the most accurate predictions.
The magic square is one of the number arrangements and the sums of each row, column, and diagonal are all equal. The meaning of "方" is "Square". If we don't consider the condition of 'square' then is it possible any number arrangement? There are many special number arrangements such as "magic five number circle(緊五圖)", "magic six number circle(聚六圖)", "magic eight number circle(聚八圖)", "magic nine number circle(攢九圖)", "magic eight camp circle(八陣圖)", "magic nine camp circle(連環圖)" in the ancient Chinese mathematics books such as "楊輝算法", "算法統宗". Also, there is a very special and beautiful number arrangement Jisuguimoondo(地數龜文圖) in the mathematics book "Goosuryak(九數略)" written by Choi suk jung(崔錫鼎) in the Joseon Dynasty. In this study, we introduce a various number arrangements and their properties.
This paper presents the experimental results of behavior of square CFT columns with large the width-ro thickness ratio strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) sheets subjected to concentrated axial loading. The main parameters were b/t ratio and the number of CFRP layers and 6 specimens were fabricated. The values of b/t were ranged from 60 to 100. From the tests, Maximum increase of 16% was also achieved in axial-load capacity with three transverse layered CFRP applied on four sides of steel tubes. The load capacity decreased up to 41% comparing with nominal load capacity of unstrengthened CFT column. However, for CFRP strengthened CFT, the load capacity decreased up to 32%. Finally, from the load-strain relationships, the local buckling occurred before yield point of steel tubes. Also, from the load-strain relationships, it was observed that local buckling were delayed on CFT columns by CFRP sheets retrofitting.
This study was designed to develop and lest a structural model for paternal adaplation and family stress in the families with the handicapped children. A hypothetical model was constructed on the basis of family stress theory developed by McCubbin etc. The model included 6 theoretical concepts and 11 paths. For the purpose of the model testing, empirical data were collected from May to August, 1992. The subject of the study constituted 190 mothers whose children admitted in the five special schools and one privale institutes in Seoul and Choong Nam. In data analysis, SPSS PC+ and PC-LISREL 7.13 computer program were utilized for descriptive and covariance structure analysis. The results of lhe study were as follows. (1) Hypothetical model showed a good fit to the empirical data [Chi-square = 21.19 (df = 7, P = o. 003), Goodness of Fit Index=O.986, Adjusted Goodness of Fit Indes=0.946, Root Mean Square lesidual=0.048), Non Normed Fit Index = 0.80, Normed Fit Index=0.91]. (2) The results of Hypothesis testing indicated: 1) Social support(${\gamma}_11=.238$, T=2.352), Family Functioning(${\gamma}_12=.729$, T=5.957) had direct effects on situational definition. 2) life event stress(${\gamma}_23=.284$, T=5.220) had direct effects on the effect of the handicapped chid on the family. 3) Family functioning(${\gamma}_32=-.239$, T= -3.370) had direct effects on paternal adapation. From the above results, the significance of this study can be delineated as follows : The construction and testing of the comprehensive model seem to be the first trial in Korea. The model was supported by empirical dala. Thus it was suggested that model could be adequately applied to framily nusing care with the handicapped.
