  • A modified ABS algorithm for solving a class of singular non-linear systems, $F(x) = 0, $F\;\in \;R^n$, constructed by combining the discreted ABS algorithm and a method of Hoy and Schwetlick (1990), is presented. The second differential operation of F at a point is not required to be calculated directly in this algorithm. Q-quadratic convergence of this algorithm is given.

  • The mathematical properties of the sequentially operated systems are often described by integral equations. Reservoir system of a product and sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) are typical examples of sequentially operated systems. When the underlying random quantities follow Erlang distribution, a systematic method was developed to solve the integral equations. We extend the method to the cases having accrual functions of more general types. The solutions of the integral equations are represented as a linear combination of distribution functions, and the coefficients of the linear combination are obtained by solving linear system derived from the continuity condition of the solutions.

  • This paper presents a method of hierarchical state estimation of the time-varying linear systems via Block-pulse function(BPF). When we estimate the state of the systems where noise is considered, it is very difficult to obtain the solutions because minimum error variance matrix having a form of matrix nonlinear differential equations is included in the filter gain calculation. Therefore, hierarchical approach is adapted to transpose matrix nonlinear differential equations to a sum of low order state space equation from and Block-pulse functions are used for solving each low order state space equation in the form of simple and recursive algebraic equation. We believe that presented methods are very attractive nd proper for state estimation of time-varying linear systems on account of its simplicity and computational convenience. • In this paper a new approach to obtain the solution of the linear-quadratic Gaussian control problem for singularly perturbed discrete-time stochastic systems is proposed. The alogorithm proposed is based on exploring the previous results that the exact solution of the global discrete algebraic Riccati equations is found in terms of the reduced-order pure-slow and pure-fast nonsymmetric continuous-time algebraic Riccati equations and, in addition, the optimal global Kalman filter is decomposed into pure-slow and pure-fast local optimal filters both driven by the system measurements and the system optimal control input. It is shown that the optimal linear-quadratic Gaussian control problem for singularly perturbed linear discrete systems takes the complete decomposition and parallelism between pure-slow and pure-fast filters and controllers.

  • Although many methodologies exist for determining the constrained equations of motion, most of these methods depend on numerical approaches such as the Lagrange multiplier's method expressed in differential/algebraic systems. In 1992, Udwadia and Kalaba proposed explicit equations of motion for constrained systems based on Gauss's principle and elementary linear algebra without any multipliers or complicated intermediate processes. The generalized inverse method was the first work to present explicit equations of motion for constrained systems. However, numerical integration results of the equation of motion gradually veer away from the constraint equations with time. Thus, an objective of this study is to provide a numerical integration scheme, which modifies the generalized inverse method to reduce the errors. The modified equations of motion for constrained systems include the position constraints of index 3 systems and their first derivatives with respect to time in addition to their second derivatives with respect to time. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by numerical examples.

  • A method for obtaining optimal orbital maneuvers of a space vehicle has been developed by combining feedback linearization method with the elegance of the Lambert's theorem. To obtain solutions to nonlinear orbital maneuver problems. The full nonlinear equations of motion for space vehicle in polar coordinate system are transformed exactly into a controllable linear set in Brunovsky canonical form by using feedback linearization by choosing position vector as fully observable output vector. These equations are used to pose a linear optimal tracking problem with a solutions to Lambert's problem and a linear analytical solution of continuous low thrust problem as reference trajectories.

  • This study uses distributed parameter systems as the spatial discretization technique, modelling in lumped parameter systems, and applies fast WALSH transform and the Picard's iteration method to high order partial differential equations and matrix partial differential equations. This thesis presents a new algorithm which usefully exercises the optimal control in the distributed parameter systems. In exercising optimal control of distributed parameter systems, excellent consequences are found without using the existing decentralized control or hierarchical control method. This study will help apply to linear time-varying systems and non-linear systems. Further research on algorithm will be required to solve the problems of convergence in case of numerous applicable intervals.

  • This paper studies on the feedback linearization of the looper system for hot strip mills, where the looper system plays an important role in regulating the strip tension. Firstly, nonlinear dynamic equations of the looper system are simply introduced. Secondly, using the static feedback linearization algorithm, a linear model of the looper system is obtained, of which usefulness is validated from comparison between the linear model and the nonlinear model, and design of LQI(Linear Ouadratic Integral optimal control) and ILQ (Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) looper control systems. In result, it is shown that the linear looper model by the feedback linearization well describes nonlin...
