Improvement of Consensus Quality for PoN Blockchain System Using Response Surface Methodology (반응표면분석을 이용한 PoN 블록체인 시스템 합의품질 개선)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to suggest an improved version of Proof-of-Nonce (PoN) algorithm, which is a distributed consensus algorithm used for block chain system. Methods: First, we used response surface method for design of experiment that is to generate experimental points considering non-linear relationship among variables. Then, we employed overlapped contour plots for visualizing the impact of control variables to performance target. Results: First, we modified the consensus procedure of the existing PoN algorithm by diminishing the content of the exchanged message. Then, we verified the performance improvement of the new PoN algorithm by performing a numerical experiment and paired t-test. Finally, we established new regression models for consensus time and Transactions per second (TPS) and proposed a method for optimizing control variables for obtaining performance target. Conclusion: We could improve the performance of the previous version of PoN algorithm by modifying the content of the exchanged message during 4-steps of consensus procedure, which might be a stepping stone for designing an efficient and effective consensus algorithm for blockchain system with dynamic operation environment.

  • Considering the recent substantial increase in national research and development (R&D) budgets in the energy sector there has been increased Interest in the effectiveness of government R&D investments. We conducted a case study to calculate the allowable scale and effectiveness of R&D investment by calculating the direct performance improvement effect resulting from R&D investment as an economic value. Using conditions that existed prior to R&D investments as a reference, five cases in which performance improved due to R&D investments were compared and analyzed. The government's financial investment is increasing rapidly in line with the establishment of the national hydrogen roadmap. R&D is needed to enhance the current low technology readiness level of hydrogen fuel cells compared to solar and wind energy fields. Therefore, an R&D project to improve the performance of the fuel cell system was selected as this case study's subject. Using the results in this study, the allowable level of investment in the task unit of national R&D projects could be calculated. Moreover, it is advisable to provide a standard for rational decision making for new R&D investments since it is possible to determine investment priorities among a large number of candidates.

Performance of Block Error Probabilities of FS MC-CDMA System using BCH Coding Scheme in Slow Multipath Fading Channels (슬로우 다중경로 페이딩 채널환경에서 BCH 부호화기법을 이용한 FS MC-CDMA 시스템의 블록에러확률의 성능 개선)

  • In this paper, we analysis the error performance improvement of the FS MC-CDMA, whose information data are spread spectrum with direct sequences(DS), and each subband signal is transmitted using a subcarrier frequency, combining BCH code in Mobile communication channels which is characterized by Nakagami fading. The effect of co-channel interference on the block error performance is also studied in this paper. As a results of study, the coding techniques provides more efficient improvement than non-coding, but the coding techniques are required more band as many coding rate. Our study demonstrates that the system is combined coding techniques, the amount of improvement is capable of efficiently exploiting over the Nakagami fading.

  • The unbalanced heavy-loaded elevation-driving system is composed of link-mechanism, hydraulic cylinder and compensator for the static unbalanced moment of the load. Control and compensation of elevation-driving system is very difficult because these mechanisms imply highly nonlinear properties due to hydraulic fluid characteristics and mechanical rotation of link-mechanism. In this study, through the analysis of the link-mechanism, the optimal design of the link-mechanism is suggested. Also to estimate the control performance of the unbalanced, heavy-loaded servo-controlled system, modeling and simulation of nonlinear system are carried out. To prove the validity of performance estimation program, simulation results are compared with the experimental results. Both results are similar, therefore this program will be helpful to study the improvement of the system control performance.

  • The AMBA(Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture) system is one of the most important elements having an influence upon system performance in ARM-based SoC environments. The system guarantees easy connection and good performance as a 32-bit bus system for ARM processors. In this paper, we analyze arbitration algorithms for the AHB bus of the AMBA system and propose an efficient algorithm to improve the performance of the bus system.

  • The railroad facilities are intended for long-term operation as the initial acquisition costs necessary for infrastructure construction are high. Therefore, regular maintenance of railroad facilities is essential, and furthermore, system reliability through systematic performance evaluation is required. In this study, the signal control system of railroad electrical equipment was selected as the subject of research and the performance evaluation target facility selection study was conducted using AHP. The results of the study can contribute to the reliability of the signal control system as well as to the reliability of the railroad system, which is a higher system.

  • In recent years, problems like the formation of the organizational culture that emphasizes the outcome, deepening of stagnation of promotion, the advent of high wages and the open era, the shortage of talented human resources has occurred. Thus, public agencies have an effort to improve the traditional seniority supply wage system and have carried out introducing the performance annual salary system. This study analyzed performance annual salary system problems and the improvement plan in addition to the investigation of the recognition of employees related to the outcome annual salary system of recent public agencies. Performance annual salary system of public agencies was introduced in conjunction with the evaluation of the public agencies. Performance annual salary system of this way were studied something that it have been properly secured, what is problems generated by the annual salary system fusing process and improvement about them. According to the study, It found that there are various problems like strong negative perceptions of overall performance annual salary system, the sense of discomfort occurrence associated with the implementation of the outcome annual salary system, salary piling of objectivity for the performance evaluation, etc. In order to improve these problems, It is necessary to converse of negative recognization, eliminate discomfort of performance annual salary system, provide fair evaluation criteria of the outcome, and due to the implementation annual salary system, and clarification of sectoral performance concepts and criteria.

  • Domestically, technical condition evaluation for breakwaters has been conducted through safety checks and safety diagnosis. If necessary, maintenance for the facility is conducted. However, in recent years, the need for infrastructure management has been increasing from a life-cycle-cost perspective. For these reasons, the "Sustainable Infrastructure Management Basic Act" was enacted. Previously, only the technical part of the breakwaters was evaluated. However, based on the act, comprehensive management of breakwaters will be possible through performance improvement by adding economic and political evaluations. In this study, evaluation factors and evaluation methods were developed for a breakwater rehabilitation project. The purpose of this study is to present a development direction, items, and methods for the evaluation of breakwater performance improvement to be applied in future practice. This study reviews the concept of maintenance and performance improvement, the literature related to performance improvement, and the project type for the common standard of performance improvement. Evaluation items and evaluation methods for breakwater rehabilitation are suggested to be reviewed by experts. The methodology suggested in this study could be used for preventive maintenance and to reduce accidents.

Performance of a DS/CDMA Packet Network in an Indoor Wireless Infrared Channel

  • In this paper, performance of a CDMA-based packet transmission system is analyzed and simulated in a wireless infrared channel. The indoor wireless infrared channel is modeled as a non-directed diffuse link. The pulse position modulation (PPM) is used as a modulation scheme. From the simulation results, it is shown that the RS coding is very effective in improving the packet-delay characteristics of the CDMA-based packet transmission system. The performance improvement is more significant especially when the infrared channel is in a worse condition.

  • This paper presents the performance of a GHICW(Group-wise Hybrid Interference Cancellation scheme based on Wiener filtering) receiver for the multi-rate DS-CDMA system. Our scheme has a small processing delay and a simple hardware complexity compared to ordinary interference cancellation schemes by grouping users with the same date rate. The performance improvement of the low rate user is obtained by using a Wiener filter which precisely estimates the high rate users' bit.
