  • A new scheme for solving the Vlasov equation using a compactly supported wavelets basis is proposed. We use a numerical method which minimizes the numerical diffusion and conserves a reasonable time computing cost. So we introduce a representation in a compactly supported wavelet of the derivative operator. This method makes easy and simple the computation of the coefficients of the matrix representing the operator. This allows us to solve the two equations which result from the splitting technique of the main Vlasov equation. Some numerical results are exposed using different numbers of wavelets.

  • Poly(4-vinylpyridine)-supported $Br{\phi}nsted$ acids (P4VP-HX) were prepared by wet impregnation technique. These supported acids were found as efficient heterogeneous green catalysts for acetylation of alcohol, amine and phenol with different catalytic activities. The wide application of P4VP-HX as reusable solid acid catalyst in organic reactions is possible because of its simple preparation and handling, stability, simple work up procedure.

  • Aromatic aldehydes are efficiently self-condensed into $\alpha$-hydroxy carbonyl compounds by polystyrene-supported ammonium cyanide as an excellent organocatalyst in C-C bond formation. The reaction proceeds in water under mild reaction conditions. The polymeric catalyst can be easily separated by filtration and reused several times without appreciable loss of activity.

  • This paper presents the result of analysis of special orthotropic plates supported by elastic foundation and simple supported edges. Convergence and accuracy of the solution are examined and it is verified that the solution obtained is sufficiently accurate. The effect of the spring constant, k, on deflection is studied.

  • According to current bridge design code cable supported bridges are designed generally against 1000-year-return-period earthquake. Considering its importance, however, it may be desirable to design against 2400-year-return-period earthquake. But the seismic behavior of cable supported bridges under higher seismicity is not investigated fully. In this study, several cable supported bridges were analyzed under higher seismicity and then the response forces in prime members were compared with those analyzed under current design earthquake.

  • Daubechies [1] discoverd compactly supported scaling functions and corresponding wavelets with high regularities. It seems that there are no known compactly supported scaling functions other than Daubechies'. In this article, we will construct new scaling functions supproted in intervals of length $\leq 3$ without using deep analysis. While one of them is Daubechies' scaling function, others are less regular than Daubechies'. Also, we will show that Daubechies' scaling function is the unique one with highest regularity.

  • Macrocyclic ligands have been studied as cation carriers in a supported liquid membrane system. Cd2+ has been transported using nitrogen substituted macrocycles as carriers and several divalent metal ions (M2+=Zn, Co, Ni, Cu, Pb, Mg, Ca, and Sr) have been transported using DBN3O2, DBN2O2and PolyNtnoen as carriers in a supported liquid membrane system. Competitive Cd2+-M2+ transport studies have also been carried out with the same system. Ligand structure, stability constant, membrane solvent and carrier concentration are also important parameters in the transport of metal ions.

  • Hybrid air-foil magnetic bearing combines two oil free bearing technologies to take advantage of the strengths of each bearing with minimizing each other weaknesses. This paper presents bending mode vibration control of a flexible shaft supported by the hybrid air-foil magnetic bearing. An experiment set-up of a flexible shaft supported by the hybrid air-foil magnetic bearing is built. In order to verify the effectiveness of the hybrid bearing, unbalance responses of the flexible shaft supported by three different bearings: air-foil, magnetic and hybrid bearings are compared. Effect of load sharing between air-foil and magnetic bearings are investigated through changing control gain and offset displacements of magnetic bearing.
