고온 초전도 선재의 전력계통 적용 사례 분석 연구 (A Study on the Application Cases of High Temperature Superconductivity to Electrical Power System)

  • 초전도 현상은 절대온도 부근에서 전기적 저항이 사라지고 자기부양 효과를 보이는 등의 장점 때문에 다양한 분야에서 적용이 시도되고 있지만 초전도 임계온도를 실현하기 위한 어려움 때문에 실용화에 많은 어려움을 겪어 왔다. 하지만 최근 $30^{\circ}K$ 이상에서 초전도 현상을 보이는 고온 초전도체가 발견됨으로서 다양한 분야에 대한 적용연구가 시도되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 최근 각광받고 있는 고온 초전도체의 전력계통 적용 사례들은 조사, 분석하여 그 가능성과 문제점들을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • High voltage insulation in cryogenic environment is one of big issues for development of superconducting power application, such as superconducting fault current limiter, transformer, transmission cable, and so on. We had proposed a composite solid insulator composed of plastics and polymer insulation sheets for a use of high voltage superconducting power applications. It is well known that the G10 FRP keeps its mechanical strength at very low temperature and the PPLP is very good insulator adopted as insulations for superconducting transmission cables. The composition of these two materials will show very good electrical and mechanical properties adequate for the insulation components of superconducting power applications, such as bushing, insulation barrier, and even for a cryostat. Dielectric strengths of prepared samples were measured at the temperature of boiling point of liquid nitrogen at atmospheric pressure, which will be presented in this paper to show a usefulness of this technique.

  • In this paper the characteristics of surface flashover for high temperature superconducting transformer(HTS) was discussed. The transformer, will be developed in the shell type with double pancake coil, isn't developed yet in the world. We conducted experiment of surface flashover that could occur in the windings of the transformer. First, we distinguished the surface flashover with electrode alignment into two type, such as parallel and vertical, and then compared with each characteristics of surface flashover. And the surface flashover with metallic particle was tested, it was also affected by the particle position. .

  • In this paper, 3-D electromagnetic analysis of a single phase 1MVA 22.9kV/6.6kV High Temperature Superconducting(HTS) transformer with double pancake windings by using the OPERA 3D was accomplished. And in order to perform the analysis of leakage impedances of a 1MVA HTS transformer, the energy conservation method was used. The efficiency voltage regulation and % impedance voltage drop of a 1MVA HTS transformer were obtained by the analysis of leakage impedances.

  • Parallel wounded windings with BSCCO-2223 HTS tape for 1MVA HTS transformer were designed and prototype windings were fabricated in double pancake type. The parallel HTS tapes were transposed between the pancakes via non-superconducting joints because it is hard to make transpositions inside the pancake windings. The prototypes were wound using copper tape with same size as BSCCO-2223 tape, which will be used in 1MVA HTS transformer. The windings will be used for high voltage test and insulation test of the transformer Parallel HTS windings are going to be fabricated and tested for current distribution in near future.

  • This paper shows results of a design work of a program that is to develop a large power single phase high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer. The program forms a part of a national project in Korea. A target of the design work is an HTS power transformer with rated voltages of 154 kV/22.9 kV and material for windings is supposed to be coated conductor. The design results presents in this paper will include: 1)HTS winding structures for high voltage in liquid nitrogen, 2)design result of continuously transposed coated conductor (CTCC), 3)conceptual design of high voltage bushings, 4)cooling system. A feasibility study will succeed to this design work for construction of a prototype HTS power transformer with capacity/voltage of 33 MVA/154 kV.

  • This paper presents the performance evaluation of an HTS transformer. Numerical calculation by finite element method was used to evaluate the performance. BSCCO-2223 HTS tapes and double pancake winding were adopted in this design. Four double pancake windings were used in total. Among them two windings were connected in series for high voltage winding and two windings are connected in parallel for low voltage winding. Propertied of various type of the winding arrangement were examined. Characteristics of the transformer during the transient which was caused by sudden short were simulated. The current limiting effect, temperature rise and resistance growth of the superconducting winding were shown.

  • We investigated the characteristics of transformer type SFCL with neutral line. The transformer type SFCL having neutral line has achieved the simultaneous quench because the secondary winding has acted as parallel reactor. The fault current of SFCL was limited according to ratio of turn number between primary and secondary windings. Therefore, the power burden of superconducting element can be reduced by reduction of ratio of turn number between primary and secondary windings. As a result, we could expect reduction of it's volume in the transformer type SFCL.

  • This paper presents conceptual design and 3-D electromagnetic analysis of IMVA transformer with BSCCO-2223 High Tc Superconducting (HTS) tapes. The rated voltages of each sides of the transformer are 22.9 kV and 6.6 kV, and double pancake windings were adopted. High voltage and Low voltage sides were composed of several double pancake windings. Four HTS tapes were wound in parallel for the windings of low voltage side and were transposed in order to distribute the currents equally in each conductor The transformer core was designed as a shell type core made of laminated silicon steel plates and the core is separated with the windings by a cryostat with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics(FRP). A sub-cooling system using L$N_2$ were designed to maintain the coolant temperature 65K. Finally perpendicular components of magnetic field applied to tapes were calculated 0.247 in the rated operation using 3-D analysis. A real 1MVA HTS transformer will be manufactured in near future based on the design parameters presented in this paper.

  • In a research and development team of high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer for power distribution, prior to manufacture a single phase 1MVA 22.9 kV/6.6 kV HTS transformer, a 1MVA transformer for insulation test with windings made of copper tapes with the same size as BSCCO-2223 HTS tape was manufactured. The test transformer was composed of both the copper windings of double pancake type and the shell type core of laminated silicon steel plates. The characteristics tests of the test transformer were performed, such as no load test, load test and short test at 77k using liquid nitrogen. Insulation tests, lightning impulse test, power-frequency voltage test and external insulation test, were accomplished also.
