  • For the construction of twin single track subway tunnels by NATM within close proximity of existing vehicle underpass in the highly congested area of downtown Seoul, finite element analyses were performed to evaluate the ground responses during tunnelling and also the stability and safety of the underpass structure and subway tunnels. Results of the analyses indicated the need to improve the soil beneath the underpass, and pre-grouting was carried out prior to the tunnel excavation. During tunnel construction field measurement program was implemented to confirm the results of anslyses and to control the tunnel construction procedures, thus ensuring stability of the existing structres.

지하철 이용자의 접근시간분포 (Access Time Distribution of Subway Users)

  • Accurate subway demand estimation which is essential for better route selection can be achieved by the exact definition of the influence sphere of subway station. The influence was derived implicitly from the analysis of access time to the station for the cases of Seoul. Access time distribution was investigated by trip purposes, by age, by income, by sex, by travel distance, by kinds of thickets, by the location of station for the analysis of relationship between access time and socio-economic characteristics or urban structure. The difference of average access time between direct access trip and transfer trip which is found 8.6 minutes and 6.1 minutes respectively also investigated. The small difference implies poor transfer system of Seoul subway. 83.1% of subway users are coming from the distance of 10minutes' walk and average access time is 7.8minutes as a whole.

  • The screen doors installed in the station of subway are subject to the train-wind pressure caused by the operation of trains. The train-wind pressure has to be correctly estimated for the design of safe structure of screen doors. As three-dimensional numerical flow analysis technology has been significantly developed, the analysis on the train-wind pressure with diverse variables such as train specifications, train speed, tunnel and station configurations, and blockage ratio can be effectively carried out with three-dimensional numerical method. In this study, computational analysis of train-induced wind in a subway tunnel employing the screen doors are carried out by using the three-dimensional numerical method with the model of the moving boundary for the run of trains. While the numerical analysis of train-wind pressure was applied on the one island-type station in the Seoul Subway Line 2, maximum pressure of 494 Pa was estimated on the screen door when two trains pass each other at the speed of 80km/h in the platform.

  • Changes in transport are reflected in the accessibility of a place, which is denoted as the inherent advantageous characteristics of a place with respect to overcoming spatial friction, and affect the land use ultimately. A composite accessibility measurement scheme is developed and applied to the subway network in Seoul, which has been constructed in 1972. Changes in the transport network are reflected in the spatial structure of accessibility and affect ultimately the land use pattern. Therefore, it is of relevance to examine the changes in the spatial structure of accessibility, which allows to forecast the direction of changes in the land use pattern.

서울 대도시권 지하철망의 구조적 특성 분석 (Network Structures of The Metropolitan Seoul Subway Systems)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 최근 다양한 네트워크 분석에 활발히 적용되고 있는 복잡성 분석을 통하여 수도권 지하철 망의 구조적 특성을 연구하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 수도권 지하철 망을 점과 선으로 구성되는 네트워크로 구성하고, 네트워크의 복잡성 분석에서 계산하는 다양 지표들을 산출하여 그에 대한 해석을 시도하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 교통카드를 이용해 움직이는 수도권 대중교통이용자의 통행기록을 담고 있는 대용량 교통카드 트랜잭션 데이터베이스로부터 수도권 지하철망의 구조적 특징을 찾아내기 위한 알고리즘을 개발하고 그의 적용으로 얻어진 결과를 분석하였다. 또한 지하철역과 역 사이의 시간거리와 실제거리에 대해 최단경로를 탐사하는 알고리즘을 개발하고, 이를 통하여 얻어진 최단경로거리와 최단거리의 분포 구조를 분석하였다. 특히 최단 경로거리와 최단 거리의 합을 산출하여 수도권 지하절망을 통하여 각 역에서 다른 모든 역들에 도달하기 용이한 정도를 의미하는 접근성 지표로 삼고, 이를 GIS를 사용하여 수도권의 접근성의 공간적 분포를 나타내고 그의 공간적 구조를 분석하였다.

  • 건축 구조물의 진동특성은 시험으로 알아내기가 어렵기 때문에 지진이나 다른 가진에 대한 영향을 미리 평가하기가 매우 어려웠다. 그러나 근래에 들어 해석 기술이 발전함에 따라 건축물에 대한 성능을 예측해 볼 수 있게 되었다. 건축 구조물의 진동특성 예측은 지금까지는 2차원 평면 해석이 주를 이루었고, 3차원 해석은 이루어지지 않고 있었다. 2차원 해석은 건축물이 비대칭일 때 해석의 신뢰성을 떨어뜨리는 문제를 안고 있다. 본 논문에서는 주거건축물을 3차원으로 모델링하였으며, 지하철 통과시 주거 건축물의 진동 해석을 수행하였다.

  • Computer-based methods have often been used in the structural analysis. But, regardless of the progress in the technique of structural analysis, there are inevitable limitations in consideration of the material and eometric nonlinearity and prediction of failure loads. Model analysis of concrete structure can supplement this kind of limitations to reasonably predict behavior of the structure. Similitude requirement in the reinforced concrete structure is often hard to be secured because of peculiar uncertainty of concrete. In this study, small scale model of subway box structure was constructed using strength model and results of model of subway box structure was constructed using strength model and results of model test and computer-based analysis were compared.

  • Horizontal displacement of slurry wall with strut is analyzed using 2-D numerical stress-displacement program, FLAC. Validation of the program results are performed using the pre- and ongoing excavation sections and further displacement is predicted in the stage of strut removal. The result show that the calculated displacement was very close to the measured displacement when 40% in-situ strut preloading is applied to the strut loading of the program considering the horizontal spacing of struts in the field. It was found that construction efficiency can be improved by partially removing the struts before putting slabs in the stage of subway structure construction.

  • As the life quality is higher and higher, the requirement for the clean air in a subway station is strongly being increased. Therefore, many researches have been performed about that. Seoulmetro has taken many parts and has applied latest products for the higher level of air quality. However, by various kinds of facilities, it is hard to maintain the facilities and verify their performances. Therefore it is better to use qualified air filter system by the performance test at subway stations than to apply newly developed one without any verification. This study is focused on the performance verification for a panel structure, which consists of non-woven fabric, to suggest the standard of air filter systems.

  • Noise and vibration induced by subway operation are one of the major factor which annoy residents living near railway tracks. While lateral vibration is a major factor in analyzing seismic effect of the structure, vertical vibration became a major concern in considering the subway induced vibration because relatively smaller energy affects only nearby areas than that of earthquake. A characteristics of structural response induced by subway operation has been studied with different total height of the building and different number of spans. Also the frame with different span length has been studied. As the numbers of degrees freedom increase the higher mode effect on vertical vibration increases. Accordingly, the total affecting vertical modes are distributive as the numbers of degrees of freedom increase. Though the total degree of freedom increases, only some of the dominant modes actively affects to the vertical response of the structure. A frame with the number of equal spans could be analyzed by replacing the whole frame as one when we want to predict the response of the vertical vibration. Also it has been found that the seperate frame analysis will give little different result when adjacent span is relatively longer than others.
