  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of anger expression in middle-aged Korean women by categorizing their patterns of expression while considering the complexity and multidimensionality of anger, and by investigating the characteristics relative to the patterns. Methods: The research design was a descriptive design using Q methodology, which is a method of measuring subjectivity. A convenience sample of 42 participants aged 40-60 years and living in the community in Korea was recruited. The PC-QUANL software program (a factor analysis program for the Q technique) was used to analyze the Q-sort data. Results: Four factors were extracted that described different expressions of anger among middle-aged Korean women; these factors explained 50.1% of the total variance. The frames of reference of the four factors were a) direct diversion, b) silent masking with remaining anger, c) self digestion, and d) controlling anger with objectification. Conclusion: In this study has identified patterns and characteristics of anger expression among middle-aged Korean women were identified, which will aid the development of effective anger-management programs for controlling anger in this population. In future studies, it would be helpful to investigate how the patterns of anger expression established herein are associated with specific health problems such as cardiovascular disorder and cancer.

  • This study selects camellia flowers as a material for design development and created patterns by simplifying the image of camellia flowers and combining it with a geometrical motif. It it applied them to various fields to develop design content for fashion cultural products that were Korean, modern, and competitive. For this purpose, this paper used Adobe Illustrator CS2 to turn the camellia flower into a motif and develop it into a pattern. Based on the realistic form of camellia flower, this paper set 3 basic motifs of new formative images, using graphic elements, such as omission of a form, simplification, overlapping, repetition, and reduction, and it also developed two transformed motifs by applying a different color to each motif. This paper repetitively arranged each motif in the background of a diamond shape, a square, and a circle, and it combined each motif with the patterns of marcel, stairs, and stripes, through which it expressed the combination of the geometrical patterns and the flower patterns. Through the application of repetitive and combined patterns of each motif, the enlargement and reduction of motifs, the repetition of motifs, the combined use of motifs, and the change in colors and layout, this paper used the motifs of various fashion cultural products, such as scarves, neckties, and T-shirts.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to provide basic information of efficient flow line arrangement, which results from examining the factors of route choice with a focus on the store' space elements and pedestrian activity patterns in the outlets. The route tracking is applied to grasp pedestrian activity patterns, therefore, a concrete analysis into influential factors of the space structure arrangement and forms on route choice. The route tracking is a means to understand pedestrian activity patterns by establishing an unrecognizable space and examining every route in the investigating area for pedestrian activity pattern research. Three sample stores have different systems in the ground plan structures, the escalator location and the directions. The analysis focuses on the booth arrangement and shopping patterns. In conclusion, route choice of the customers and the structure of the space are quite closely related and affect the quality of shopping. This can suggest evidence for the need of the space structure to meet the pedestrian activity patterns.

  • This is a descriptive study to identify patterns of teacher questioning discourse. Transcripts from Korean secondary science classrooms were examined while extensive review of literature on classroom discourse was carried out. When it is assumed that teacher questioning discourse can be categorized into different patterns by considering together the apparent exchange structures and pedagogical functions, various patterns of teacher questioning discourse were revealed. Although most patterns found illustrate the centrality of the teacher, a few of them are considered alternatives to the typical IRE discourse. A framework for classifying teacher questioning discourse is suggested and its implications for science teacher education and future research discussed.

  • The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is designed to intensify bilateral trade between China and the BRI countries through the improvement of transportation connections. However, little research has empirically investigated the impacts of this policies on the trade patterns. This paper attempts to evaluate the impacts of BRI on the trade patterns of Tanzania. Our study extends the original gravity model of bilateral trade by adding GDP per capita, population and proximity as the explanatory variables. According to our research, we observed that the BRI significantly impacted the Tanzania's trade patterns, as it led to the increase of bilateral trade flow between Tanzania and China more importantly between Tanzania and its adjacent countries. It indicates that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has boosted Tanzania's trade exclusively, hence the Tanzania's export sector earns greater trading potential with the adjacent countries.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors of sleep disturbance and sleep patterns of elderly hospitalized women patients between young-old (65-74 years), old (76-84 years) and old-old (85 years and above). Methods: The questionnaire included the environmental disturbance factors (Paik, 2000), degree of pain (Wang & Kim,1995), disease symptoms (Paik, 2000), depression (Kee, 1996) and sleep patterns (Oh, Song, & Kim, 1998). Data were analyzed using frequencies, means, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression (SPSS 14.0). Results: The middle, and oldest group's environmental disturbance factors of degree of pain, disease symptoms, depression and sleep patterns were higher than those of the younger group. The younger, middle, and oldest group's sleep pattern had a significant negative correlation with environmental disturbance factors, degree of pain, disease symptoms and depression. The model including variables related to environmental, physical and psychological disturbance factors, explained the following variances in sleep pattern: 26.8% for the youngest group, 27.6% for the middle group and 40.7% for the oldest group. Conclusion: The result of this study offer basic data for the development of nursing intervention programs to improve sleep patterns for hospitalized women patients according to age differences.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate friction characteristics according to micro-dimple patterns. The surface texturing of micro-dimple patterns was tested to examine the friction of pin-on-disk using flat-on-flat contact geometry. The patterns of both dimple circle and groove pattern were adopted to carry out the effect of those ones. In the low loads, such as 13.8N and 27.7N, the friction coefficients of groove pattern were lower than those of dimple circle pattern. In many other comparisons of normal loads, the groove pattern had lower friction forces, which showed the effect of surface texturing. The relationship between sliding time and friction forces showed that the increase of friction forces of groove pattern were relatively lower than those of dimple pattern. In conclusion, the dimple patterns of dimple-circle pattern and groove pattern strongly contributed to reducing the friction between contacting materials.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the sleep/activity patterns of premature babies. Method: The subjects were 55 premature babies who were hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of one University Hospital in Daejeon from September 1, 2004 to March 31, 2006. The sleep/activity patterns of the premature babies were observed for 24 hours a day for 7 days. The observations were made and recorded by the researcher and 5 trained research assistants using NCASA records developed by Barnard et al. (1979). For statistical analysis, frequency, average, t-test, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used. Results: The infants slept more and had less awake periods during daytime than full-term infants. As the hospital stay of the premature babies increased, the amount of daytime sleep and total daily sleep decreased, and the amount of daytime awake periods increased. Conclusions: The findings suggest that the level of physical and physiological maturity of premature babies is one of the major variables that affect their sleep/activity patterns. Furthermore, the findings of this study will provide information about the sleep/activity patterns of premature babies, and present baseline data to develop the nursing intervention programs which support optimum development for the premature babies.

  • Bomun(Treasure Pattern), by its formative beauty and its symbol of good-luck, is mixed well with other patterns and produces another luxurious and gorgeous pattern with them. This study is to sort out Bomun patterned materials in the relics of Chosun dynasty, to classify the types of patterns according to its elements and to its arrangement, and to analyze their aesthetic characteristics in terms of fabrics, methods of putting patterns on fabrics, their usage, and symbols and aesthetics. The types of Bomun, in terms of their composition elements, are classified as Individual type, Compound Type Ⅰ, which is made with another Bomun, and Compound Type Ⅱ, which is compounded with plant patterns or with animal patterns. In terms of its arrangement, it is classified as Dense type, Sparse type, and Picturesque type, and the most popular type is the pattern of the dense type. Bomun was depicted in the fabric through a technique called Jimunbeop. It was used on both men's and women's clothing. It was mostly used in Po of men's clothing and in Jeogori(jacket) of women's clothing. Bomun connotes the meaning of good-luck, beating off evil spirits, Yin and Yang ideology, noble tastes, etc.
