The goal of this study was to analyze students' views about statistical themes in Mongolian secondary schools in Ulaanbaatar. To this end, 129 9th grade students were stratified random sampling at two secondary schools in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and a survey was conducted on them. The attitude survey focused on six factors contributing to the attitude: affective, cognitive competency, value, difficulty, interest, and student effort. The results show that students believed their statistical knowledge and skills have increased compared to the beginning of the courses. Furthermore, the survey revealed that they perceived statistics as neither an easy nor a difficult subject. Students' interest in statistics was neutral in general. These results suggest a need to develop effective and innovative statistical teaching and learning methods that can attract attention to statistical topics.
The purpose of this study was implementing the high-school 'Food Safety and Health' curriculum using the workbook, and to evaluate the educational impact on, and satisfaction of student who participated in class. A total of 109 lessons were undertaken in home economics classes by referring to the 'Food Safety and Health' workbook for 1,154 students attending seven high schools located in seven cities and provinces across the Korea. In order to examine the effects of classes by referring to workbooks, pre- and post-evaluations were conducted by devising a questionnaire about dietary behavior associated with food safety, creative problem-solving abilities, community capacities, and social cooperation capacities. The results of the analysis of the collected data from 674 students who participated in the pre- and post-evaluations are as follows. First, according to the results of the paired t-test conducted to examine the effects of using the workbook in classes on dietary behavior, significant positive changes were observed in the dietary behavior related to food safety, creative problem-solving skills, community consciousness, and social cooperation capabilities. Second, as a result of the students' evaluation of classes by referring to the 'Food Safety and Health' workbook, both satisfaction and interest in the class using the workbook were high, and the difficulty level was deemed to be appropriate. Additionally, it was found that the students actively participated in learning activities. The reason for this appears to be that the aforementioned workbook consisted of various student activities such as experiments, practical exercises, and group activities aimed at strengthening the link between life and education, thus enabling increased student participation.

The purpose of this study is to identify the types of essential inquiry activities presented in elementary science textbooks for grades 5-6, and to find out what difficulties teachers have in the actual teaching process. To this end, the essential research activities presented in the textbook were analyzed into six types: experimentation/observation, investigation/discussion and presentation, data interpretation, discussion/discussion, simulation activity, and expression. In addition, 108 elementary school teachers were investigated for the suitability of inquiry activity achievement standards, suitability at the student's level, student interest, and difficulty in teaching instruction. To summarize the research results, the most frequently suggested type was the experiment/observation type, followed by simulation activity type and data interpretation type. It was analyzed that there was no discussion/discussion type in the 5th grade textbooks, and the 6th graders did not present research activities that correspond to the research/discussion/presentation type and the expression type in the textbook. In the results of teachers' responses to the suitability of achievement standards for inquiry activities presented in textbooks and the suitability of the student's level, 5th graders showed lower average scores than 6th graders, and showed similar average scores in student interest and instructional difficulty. Also, it was confirmed that improvement was required for a total of 17 inquiry activities. Specifically, teachers responded that they had difficulty in guiding inquiry activities when the experimental results did not appear as intended in the textbook, when students' interest in inquiry activities was low, and when students and teachers had low understanding of related science concepts. Teachers pointed out practical problems such as difficulties in long-term observation in astronomy-related units, and students in upper elementary school not actively participating in dynamic play activities.
Course guidance is a mentoring process which is performed before students register for coming classes. The course guidance plays a very important role to students in checking degree audits of students and mentoring classes which will be taken in coming semester. Also, it is intimately involved with a graduation assessment or a completion of ABEEK certification. Currently, course guidance is manually performed by some advisers at most of universities in Korea because they have no electronic systems for the course guidance. By the lack of the systems, the advisers should analyze each degree audit of students and curriculum information of their own departments. This process often causes the human error during the course guidance process due to the complexity of the process. The electronic system thus is essential to avoid the human error for the course guidance. If the relation data model-based system is applied to the mentoring process, then the problems in manual way can be solved. However, the relational data model-based systems have some limitations. Curriculums of a department and certification systems can be changed depending on a new policy of a university or surrounding environments. If the curriculums and the systems are changed, a scheme of the existing system should be changed in accordance with the variations. It is also not sufficient to provide semantic search due to the difficulty of extracting semantic relationships between subjects. In this paper, we model a course mentoring ontology based on the analysis of a curriculum of computer science department, a structure of degree audit, and ABEEK certification. Ontology-based course guidance system is also proposed to overcome the limitation of the existing methods and to provide the effectiveness of course mentoring process for both of advisors and students. In the proposed system, all data of the system consists of ontology instances. To create ontology instances, ontology population module is developed by using JENA framework which is for building semantic web and linked data applications. In the ontology population module, the mapping rules to connect parts of degree audit to certain parts of course mentoring ontology are designed. All ontology instances are generated based on degree audits of students who participate in course mentoring test. The generated instances are saved to JENA TDB as a triple repository after an inference process using JENA inference engine. A user interface for course guidance is implemented by using Java and JENA framework. Once a advisor or a student input student's information such as student name and student number at an information request form in user interface, the proposed system provides mentoring results based on a degree audit of current student and rules to check scores for each part of a curriculum such as special cultural subject, major subject, and MSC subject containing math and basic science. Recall and precision are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The recall is used to check that the proposed system retrieves all relevant subjects. The precision is used to check whether the retrieved subjects are relevant to the mentoring results. An officer of computer science department attends the verification on the results derived from the proposed system. Experimental results using real data of the participating students show that the proposed course guidance system based on course mentoring ontology provides correct course mentoring results to students at all times. Advisors can also reduce their time cost to analyze a degree audit of corresponding student and to calculate each score for the each part. As a result, the proposed system based on ontology techniques solves the difficulty of mentoring methods in manual way and the proposed system derive correct mentoring results as human conduct.
This study was to gain a suggestion how to educate the science gifted student and manage the science gifted education center by analyzing the science gifted student's perception of the science, scientist and vocation. One seventy and eight science gifted students were involved in the questionnaire to investigating the perception of science, scientist and vocation. As the results, many of science gifted students thought the convenience as the positive aspect of science and the environmental pollution as the negative aspect of science. Science gifted students considered most scientists a diligent person, researcher and what's more, they are careless about home. They suggested much more of foreign scientists like Einstein, Edison, etc. than Korean ones as respectable scientists. Scientist is a major vocation that they want and know in the science area, while some students want to be a doctor, occurred to science singer. The mystery, difficulty, complexity, scientist, etc. occurred to science gifted students when they heard the ‘science’. According to the results, there are in need of the new educational programs for the science gifted students and science gifted education center. One of the aims of the science gifted education center is the judgment and cultivation of the science gifted student. Therefore, the science gifted student to be educated to improve positively the images of science and scientist. In addition to, they should get a concern about the vocation in science area and to be a famous scientist.

The purpose of this study is to explore the child education experiences of married female students who left their children in their home countries. This study consists of two questions. First, what is the meaning of the child in home country for married female students to their foreign student's life? Second, how they do the child education? For this study data was collected from March to May, 2016 through in-depth interviews with 6 married female students who left their children in their home countries to further their studies in Korea. Then, the data was analyzed their cases were analyzed. First, for married female students their children are always in the first place during their life as a foreign student in Korea. Second, their children play a great role in their foreign student life. Third, the child makes them to be exemplary student in their foreign student's life. In addition, children's education is entrusted to those who are raising them in their home country. However, when big decisions have to be made, it is done by the mother. Also, because they feel sorry towards their children they actively reflect the views of the children. Moreover, they often check everything about their children through SNS. Through this study, we expect to less school life's difficulty of foreign married students and it will be helpful material for them to graduate their foreign students' life. The purpose of this study is to explore the child education experiences of married female students who left their children in their home countries.
This study focused on the practical research needed to improve elementary school science lesson plans. Specifically, a video clip-based pedagogical reasoning activity that included elementary student misconceptions was presented and the influences of this activity on preservice teachers' science lesson planning were assessed. First, the eight preservice teacher participants were asked to write a lesson plan for a dissolution and solution unit, after which a first semi-structured interview was conducted. Then, the participants participated in a video clip-based pedagogical reasoning activity. Based on the activity results, the participants revised their previously planned lessons, and second semi-structured interviews were conducted. The data from the preservice teachers' lesson plans and interview transcripts were analyzed using a constant comparative method to investigate the lesson plan changes. It was found that after the video clip-based pedagogical reasoning activity, the preservice teacher tightened the activity or changed the material to understand the students' thinking processes. In addition, they supplemented their goals and assessment criteria to accommodate the diverse students' thinking. Some also specified motivational strategies that considered student interests, motivation, and possible misconceptions. However, some preservice teachers still set goals that did not sufficiently account for student misconceptions and some planned the student assessments based only on the learning goals rather than the students' thinking. The few preservice teachers were able to develop motivational strategies that considered interest, motivation, and misconceptions. The preservice teachers claimed that they had difficulty predicting the misconceptions and connecting these to the lesson content. Discussions were then held to assist the preservice teachers to consider possible student misconceptions when planning their lessons.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to explore the academic failure experiences of Korean Medicine Students. The academic failure in a medical school is defined as the situation the student who have academic failure need to repeat their academic year again. Methods : Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews from April to May 2016 and analyzed through Colaizzi's phenomenological methodology. The participants were interviewed twice, for 30minutes to 60minutes per interview. Results : Eight theme-clusters of were identified from 21 themes. The theme-clusters were 'Dream of university life and freedom', 'Meeting Stranger academic field and growing study stress', 'Difficulty of self-management', 'Weak supporting system', 'Feeling of guilty, sense of isolation and decreasing in self-esteem', 'The experience during the vacation after the academic failure', 'The experience of returning to school' and 'Self growing through hard experience'. Conclusions : Understanding of academic failure experience of Korean Medicine Students is an important approach to counsel them and an important way to reach a good model of education at a medical college.

Health is an important concept within the health component of nursing paradigm. And health concept is a core component to determine health behavior according to individual's health perception. Health habits during the period of university student will be affecting health behavior of the adult period. The purpose of this study was to analyze health concept of the university students in Korea and to provide the strategy of health care for the university students. The method of this research was a descriptive study using a self-report questionaire. The subjects were 301 students of university and their age was from 19 to 30. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Health concepts perceived by the university students were 'wholeness without difficulty', 'vitality', 'harmony', 'comfort', 'Good condition and fitness of physical and psychological condition', 'soundness', 'happiness', 'enabling' 'smoothness'. 2. Health was perceived by the subjects as an essential and an important component of life.
The purpose of this study is to develope and analyze the assessment items which can be used in evaluation of the fraction computation ability for fifth grade students. The item development team consists of three elementary school teachers and three mathematics education expert. The developed items was analyzed item analysis after applying to 135 fifth grade students. As a results of item analysis, it shows meaningful over the level of a standard basis: reliability: 0.80; validity: item 1(1.05), item 2(1.10), item 3(.85), item 4(.90), item 5(1.08); item difficulty: item 1(-.22), item 2(-.41), item 3(.23), item 4(.40), item 5(-.01); item discrimination: item 1(.73), item 2(.73), item 3(.67), item 4(.51), item 5(.56). This means that the test tool could be useful in the evaluation of the fraction computation ability.
