  • Relational Database Management Systems have become de facto database model among most developers and users since the inception of Data Science. From IoT devices, sensors, social media and other sources, data is generated in structured, semi-structured and unstructured formats, in huge volumes, thereby the difficulty of data management greatly increases. Organizations that collect large amounts of data are increasingly turning to non relational databases - NoSQL databases. In this paper, through experiments with real field data, we demonstrate that MongoDB, a document-based NoSQL database, is a better alternative for building a Telco Subscriber Data Management System which hitherto is mainly built with Relational Database Management Systems. We compare the existing system in various phases of data flow with our proposed system powered by MongoDB. We show how various workloads at some phases of the existing system were either completely removed or significantly simplified on the new system. Based on experiment results, using MongoDB for managing telco subscriber data turned out to offer performance better than the existing system built with MSSQL Server.

  • Multimedia systems design generally requires a collaborative effort from a group of designers with a variety of backgrounds and tasks, such as content experts, instructional designers, media specialists, users, and so forth. The fact that the designers have totally different backgrounds and tasks may hinder their collaboration. This research develops a collaborative design tool for multimedia systems design, called the Designer's Cafe, with which multimedia designers can share their design knowledge on the Web freely. Designer's Cafe consists of three intelligent agents that are designed for supporting collaboration activities of multimedia designers. The intelligent agents are implemented by using JAVA SCRIPT and COLD FUSION. By using the tool, designers create, revise, and share their knowledge/ideas in very structured ways. The structured design process might enhance the collaboration activities of designers while designing a multimedia system within a virtual working space.

  • This paper reports the optimum structure of the vacuum packaged Porous poly-silicon Nano-Structured (PNS) emitter. The PNS layer was obtained by electrochemical etching process into polycrystalline silicon layer in a process controlled to anodizing condition. Current-voltage studies were carried out to optimize process condition of electron emission properties as a function of anodizing condition and top electrode thickness. Also, we measured in advance the electron emission properties as a function of substrate temperature because the vacuum packaged process was performed under the condition of high temperature ambient (430$^{\circ}C$). Auger Electron Spectrometer (AES) studies shows that Au as a top-electrode was diffused to PNS layer during temperature experiments. Thus, we optimized the thickness of top-electrode in order to make the vacuum package PNS emitter. As a result, the vacuum Packaged PNS emitter was successfully emitted by optimizing process.

  • The objective of this research work is to investigate into static characteristics of ISB panels with the pyramidal structure as a internally structured material. In order to investigate the behavior of material deformation and fracture characteristics, several tensile tests have been carried out for the ISB panel and skin sheet. Through the results of the experiments, the mechanical properties of ISB panel and skin sheet and fracture characteristics have been obtained. In addition, the mechanical properties of the ISB panel have been compared with that of the skin sheet by the view point of a specific modulus, a specific yield strength and a specific strength. From the results of the comparision, it has been shown that the ISB panel has an excellent static characteristics.

  • Target design study to improve the quality of an accelerated proton beam from the interaction of a high-intensity short pulse laser with an overdense plasma slab has been accomplished by using a two-dimensional, fully electromagnetic and relativistic particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation. The target consists of a thin core part and a thick peripheral part of equivalent plasma densities, while the ratio of the radius of the core part to the laser spot size, and the position of the peripheral part relative to the fixed core part were varied. The positive effects of this core-peripheral target structure could be expected from the knowledge of the typical target normal sheath acceleration (TNSA) mechanism in a laser-plasma interaction, and were apparently evidenced from the comparison with the case of a conventional simple planar target and the case of the transversal size reduction of the simple planar target. Improvements of the beam qualities including the collimation, the forward directionality, and the beam divergence were verified by detailed analysis of relativistic momentum, angular directionality, and the spatial density map of the accelerated protons.

  • This paper describes a new sensor system for 3D environment perception using stereo structured infrared light sources and a camera. Environment and obstacle sensing is the key issue for mobile robot localization and navigation. Laser scanners and infrared scanners cover $180^{\circ}$ and are accurate but too expensive. Those sensors use rotating light beams so that the range measurements are constrained on a plane. 3D measurements are much more useful in many ways for obstacle detection, map building and localization. Stereo vision is very common way of getting the depth information of 3D environment. However, it requires that the correspondence should be clearly identified and it also heavily depends on the light condition of the environment. Instead of using stereo camera, monocular camera and two projected infrared light sources are used in order to reduce the effects of the ambient light while getting 3D depth map. Modeling of the projected light pattern enabled precise estimation of the range. Two successive captures of the image with left and right infrared light projection provide several benefits, which include wider area of depth measurement, higher spatial resolution and the visibility perception.

  • Internet shopping mall has dual nature of information technology features defined by the web-based application system and marketing features explained by the shopping marketplaces. The purpose of this study aims at analyzing the consumer's attempt to purchase and re-purchase intention to the internet shopping mall to combine the IT perspective and the marketing perspective. This paper develop the integrated research model with the acceptance behaviors of customers through consumer's purchase decision process(pre-purchase stage and post-purchase stage). The results from an empirical survey as follows: First, the integrated model is valid in predicting the acceptance of the internet shopping malls by using structured equation modeling. Second, there are the differences between pre-purchase stage and post-purchase stage by each conceptual constructs. Finally, the results of MSEM(Multi-group Structured Equation Modeling) indicate the perceived ease of use and perceived trust to the attitude to the internet shopping mall is more effectively predicted at the pre-purchase stage. Vice versa, the perceived usefulness to the intention to the purchase intention of internet shopping mall is more effectively predicted at the post-purchase stage. This study provides an integrative approach to develop the effective and successful internet shopping mall strategy.

  • One-dimensional $TiO_2$ array grown on optically transparent electrode holds a promise as a photoelectrode for photoelectrochemical water splitting; however, its crystal structure is rutile, imposing constraints on the potent use of this nanostructure. To address this issue, a heterojunction with type-II band alignment was fabricated using atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. One-dimensional core/shell structured $TiO_2$/ZnO heterojunction was superior to $TiO_2$ in the photoelectrochemical water splitting because of better charge separation and more favorable Fermi level. The heterojunction also possesses better light scattering property, which turned out to be beneficial even for improving the photoelectrochemical performance of semiconductor-sensitized solar cell.

  • In PRAM applications, the devices can be made for both binary and multi-state storage. The ability to attain intermediate stages comes either from the fact that some chalcogenide materials can exist in configurations that range from completely amorphous to completely crystalline or from designing device structure such a way that mimics multiple phase chase phenomena in single cell. We have designed stack-structured phase change memory cell which operates as multi-state storage. Amorphous $Ge_xTe_{100-x}$ chalcogenide materials were stacked and a diffusion barrier was chosen for each stack layers. The device is operated by crystallizing each chalcogenide material as sequential manner from the bottom layer to the top layer. The amplitude of current pulse and the duration of pulse width was fixed and number of pulses were controlled to change overall resistance of the phase change memory cell. To optimize operational performance the thickness of each chalcogenide was controlled based on simulation results.

  • In this paper, we design an ontology which provides interoperability by integrating typical metadata specifications and defines concepts and semantic relations between concepts that are used to describe metadata for learning objects in university courses. And we organize a hierarchical structured e-Learning system for efficient retrieval of learning objects on many local storages that use different specifications to describe metadata and propose a query processing method based on inferences. The proposed e-Learning system can provide more accurate and satisfactory retrieval service by using the designed ontology because both learning objects that be directly connected to user queries and deduced learning objects that be semantically connected to them are retrieved.
