  • The heat conduction equation, a type of a Poisson equation which can be applied in various areas of engineering is calculating its value with the iteration method in general. The equation which had difference discretization of the heat conduction equation is the simultaneous equation, and each line has the characteristic of expressing in sparse matrix of the equivalent number of none-zero elements with neighboring grids. In this paper, we propose a data structure for sparse matrix that can calculate the value faster with less memory use calculate the heat conduction equation. To verify whether the proposed data structure efficiently calculates the value compared to the other sparse matrix representations, we apply the representative iteration method, CG (Conjugate Gradient), and presents experiment results of time consumed to get values, calculation time of each step and relevant time consumption ratio, and memory usage amount. The results of this experiment could be used to estimate main elements of calculating the value of the general heat conduction equation, such as time consumed, the memory usage amount.

  • In this paper, a novel power management structure for an energy harvesting pervasive system is proposed. The system considers the power state of each subsystem to assign proper power sources. The switch matrix structure utilizes each power source to reduce the peak current of the battery. The power management structure can be interfaced to an embedded system power supply without significant design change.

  • A CGM iterative systolic algorithm to solve large sparse linear systems of equations is presented. For implementation of the algorithm, a systolic array using the stripe structure is proposed. The matrix A is decomposed into a strictly lower triangular matrix, a diagonal matrix, and a strictly up-per triangular matrix, and the two formers and the tatter· are concurrently computed by different linear arrays. Hence, the execution time of this approach Is reduced to half of the execution time of the that a linear array is used. computation of the Irregularly distributed sparse matrix can be executed effectively by using the stripe structure.

  • It is often necessary that the joints characteristics should be determined in the early stage of the vehicle body design. The researches on identification of joints in a vehicle body have been performed until the recent year. In this study, the joint characteristics of vehicle structure were expressed as the condensed matrix forms from the full joint stiffness matrix. The condensed joint stiffness matrix was applied to typical T-type and Edge-type joints, and the usefulness was confirmed. In addition, it was applied to the real center pillar model and the full vehicle body in order to validate the practical application.

  • It is important to construct fully homomorphic encryption with ciphertext matrix that makes fully homomorphic encryption become very nature and simple. We present a general design method of constructing fully homomorphic encryption whose ciphertext is matrix. By using this design method, we can deduce a fully homomorphic encryption scheme step by step based on a basic encryption scheme. The process of deduction is similar to solving equation and the final output result is a fully homomorphic encryption scheme with ciphertext matrix. The idea of constructing ciphertext matrix is ciphertexts stack, which don't simply stack ciphertexts together but is to obtain the desired homomorphic property. We use decryption structure as tool to analyze homomorphic property and noise growth during homomorphic evaluation. By using this design method, we obtain three corresponding fully homomorphic encryption schemes. Our obtained fully homomorphic encryption schemes are more efficient. Finally, we introduce the adversary advantage and improve the previous method of estimating concert parameters of fully homomorphic encryption. We give the concert parameters of these schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient integer inverse transform structure for vp9 decoder. The proposed structure is a hardware structure which is easy to control and requires less hardware resources, and shares algorithms for realizing entire DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform), ADST(Asymmetric Discrete Sine Transform) and WHT(Walsh-Hadamard Transform) in vp9. The integer inverse transform for vp9 google model has a fast structure, named butterfly structure. The integer inverse transform for google C model, unlike universal fast structure, takes a constant rounding shift operator on each stage and includes an asymmetrical sine transform structure. Thus, the proposed structure approximates matrix coefficient values for all transform mode and is used to matrix operation method. With the proposed structure, shared operations for all inverse transform algorithm modes can be possible with reduced number of multipliers compared to the butterfly structure, which in turn manages the hardware resources more efficiently.

  • Previous OD matrix estimation methods from link traffic counts have focused on the formulation of mathematical model and its solution algorithm. Thereby those methods have assumed that true or real OD is similar to the target OD and paid little attention to the properties of the change of OD structure. Although it is general situation that each OD pair increases or decreases due to significant land use and to large time variation between target OD with real OD, those methods have set unrealistic assumptions that target OD increases or decreases uniformly and that the OD structure does not change. Therefore those methods have showed poor performance of OD estimation in general situation. To cope with the problem. this paper suggests a new concept of OD matrix structure and shows the shortcomings of previous method′s dependancy on target OD matrix. We divide "OD trips" into "OD scale" and "OD structure". Where OD scale is a quantitative magnitude of OD trips and "OD structure" is ordinal OD scale. This paper use the same solution algorithm developed by Baek et al. (2000) for analysing the OD structure. Results of numerical examples show that the performance of the method is better than that of previous methods, while the previous methods have better performance in estimation only when OD trips increase or decrease. In addition to, if OD structure does not change, the results show that the error of estimation is low relatively regardless of the large difference of trips between target OD and real OD. This paper also shows that the model performance on OD structure and on OD trips is low as the number of origins that OD structure is changed increase. From the results we suggest that the change of OD structure can be more important information than the difference between target OD and real OD in OD estimation steps.

  • Naval ship design and related other activities can be characterized by the complexity of the interactions among products, activities, and disciplines. Such complexities often result in inferior designs, cost overrun, and late-delivery. Hence there exist tremendous interests in both improving the design process itself and optimizing the interactions among design activities. This paper looks at the complexity of designing naval ships thereby leading to the innovation of current ship design practices using design structure matrix. It can be used to induce the optimal ordering of design activities as well as identify sources of complexities. The method presented here identifies coupled design activities useful for reducing the complexity of naval ship design as well as optimally reordering design activities. This paper recommends the use of design structure matrix method suitable for numerically optimizing the concept design process of naval ship, and reducing cost and time required in designing naval ships by modeling and analyzing the design activities and engineering tasks, defined in systems engineering planning documents.

  • In Shamir's (t,n)-threshold based secret image sharing schemes, there exists a problem that the secret image can be reconstructed when an arbitrary attacker becomes aware of t secret image pieces, or t participants are malicious collusion. It is because that utilizes linear combination polynomial arithmetic operation. In order to overcome the problem, we propose a secret image sharing scheme using matrix decomposition and adversary structure. In the proposed scheme, there is no reconstruction of the secret image even when an arbitrary attacker become aware of t secret image pieces. Also, we utilize a simple matrix decomposition operation in order to improve the security of the secret image. In experiments, we show that performances of embedding capacity and image distortion ratio of the proposed scheme are superior to previous schemes.

  • When the operational strains of a structure can not be directly measured in order to predict the life of the structure due to the problem of the attachment, those must be obtained indirectly. Since the displacement and the strain are interrelated, the strain can be predicted from the measured displacement and displacement-strain transformation matrix. The transformation matrix is dependent on the boundary condition, unfortunately, and it is also difficult to know exactly that of the operational system. In this study, for the structure with arbitrary boundary condition under the operation, the approximate method is proposed in order to predict the operational strains using the transformation matrix obtained by using free boundary conditions. And the method is applied to predict the strains of leads of surface mount component under the vibration of the printed circuit board.
