  • The currently developed propulsion system(PS) is composed of propellant tank, valves, thrusters, interconnecting line assembly and thermal hardwares to prevent propellant freezing in the space environment. Comprehensive engineering analyses in the structure, thermal, flow and plume fields are performed to evaluate main design parameters and to verify their suitabilities concurrently at the design phase. The integrated PS has undergone a series of acceptance tests to verify workmanship, performance, and functionality prior to spacecraft level integration. After all the processes of assembly, integration and test are completed, the PS is integrated with the satellite bus system successfully. At present, the severe environmental tests have been carried out to evaluate functionality performances of satellite bus system. This paper summarizes an overall development process of monopropellant propulsion system for the attitude and orbit control of LEO(Low Earth Orbit) observation satellite from the design engineering up to the integration and test.

  • Reflective holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal(HPDLC) device has a multilayer structure consisting of alternate layers of polymer and liquid crystal droplets. Periodic modulation of a refractive index reflects light of a specific wavelength in accordance with Braggs law. Samples cured isotropically were illuminated with an Argon-ion lase at 514nm. We optimized the reflcetion efficiency of HPDLC as a function of monomer functionality, LC composition and irradiation intensity. The properties of the HPDLC films were observed by UV-visible spectroscopy. We found that the maximum reflection efficiency depends on the monomer functionality, LC composition, and laser intensity. We expect these films could be used in full-color reflective display by stacking them to obtain a mixture of colors.

  • In this paper, a fully reconfigurable Software Defined Radio (SDR) for multi-constellation and multi-frequency Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers is presented. The reconfigurability with respect to the data structure, variability of signal and receiver parameters, and receiver's internal functionality is presented. The configuration file, that is modified to lead to an entirely different operation of the SDR in response to specific target signal scenarios, directly determines the operating characteristics of the SDR. In this manner, receiver designers can effectively reduce the effort to develop many different combinations of multi-constellation and/or multi-frequency GNSS receivers. Finally, the implementation of the presented fully reconfigurable SDR is included with the experimental processing results such as acquisition, tracking, navigation for the received signals in the realistic fields.

  • Modernism is an internationally accepted design style. In addition, traditional Korean costume is not the clothing of the past, but its form is also used in modern fashion. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the social and cultural contents of the morphological structure of traditional Korean costume, in order to derive the design characteristics of modernism and examine the global applicability of traditional Korean costume structure. For this study, photographic materials from museums, schematic drawings of relics, and Hanbok production books published by government agencies were analyzed. Further, this study examined traditional Korean costume, especially the modernism characteristics derived from Paul Greenhalgh and previous studies. The results are as follows. First, The traditional Korean costume is a cut based on basic shapes, along with a silhouette appears according to the background of the times. Second, the characteristics of modernism can be divided into universality, functionality, and simplicity. Third, as a result of analyzing the form structure of traditional Korean costume based on the characteristics of modernism, universality is expressed as standardized form, functionality as practical aesthetics, and simplicity as sustainable diversity. Furthermore, Korean costume has a difference in that was greatly influenced by various Eastern ideas and aesthetics of the late Joseon Dynasty. These findings provide a perspective of modern reinterpretation of the uniqueness and universality of traditional Korean costume in line with globalization by utilizing the design characteristics of modernism, an international style.

  • Employing knowledge of adaptive possibilities of agents in multi-agents system, we have explored new aspects of distributed modular systems for building ubiquitous heterogeneous robotic systems using intelligent building blocks (I-BLOCKS) [1] as reconfigurable modules. This paper describes early technological approaches related to technical design, experimental developments and evaluation of adaptive processing and information interaction among I-BLOCKS allowing users to easily develop modular robotic systems. The processing technology presented in this paper is embedded inside each $DUPLO^1$ brick by microprocessor as well as selected sensors and actuators in addition. Behaviors of an I-BLOCKS modular structure are defined by the internal processing functionality of each I-Block in such structure and communication capacities between I-BLOCKS. Users of the I-BLOCKS system can easily do 'programming by building' and thereby create specific functionalities of a modular robotic structure of intelligent artefacts without the need to learn and use traditional programming language. From investigating different effects of modern artificial intelligence, I-BLOCKS we have developed might possibly contain potential possibilities for developing modular robotic system with different types of morphology, functionality and behavior. To assess these potential I-BLOCKS possibilities, the paper presents a limited range of different experimental scenarios in which I-BLOCKS have been used to set-up reconfigurable modular robots. The paper also reports briefly about earlier experiments of I-BLOCKS created on users' natural inspiration by a just defined concept of modular artefacts.

  • User adaptive reception of broadcast programs includes the functionality such as the user adaptive filtering and browsing functionality. The user adaptive filtering means that the user can limit the list of programs to include only his/her favorite programs among hundreds of available programs. The user adaptive browsing means that the user can view a short summary of his/her selection in the way that he/she prefers. When the receiving system include the random access storage device, the automatic recording functionality of users favorite programs can be included. The user adaptive reception requires support from various meta-data such as user preference data and content description data. TV Anytime forum is a standardization effort to enable user adaptive TV reception, which means that the user can watch what s/he wants when s/he want in the way s/he wants. MPEG-7 includes not only the content description for broadcast applications but also other content descriptions such as structure information. This paper addresses the relationship between MPEG-7 and TV Anytime and investigates how MPEG-7 should be designed and be used to satisfy the requirements of the user adaptive reception of broadcast program.
