  • All of sealing capsules to transport a special form radioactive material should be designed and fabricated in accordance with the design criteria prescribed in IAEA standards and domestic regulations. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety of a shipping capsule for $^{192}Ir$ special form radioisotope which produced in the HANARO. The safety tests were carried out for the impact, percussion, bending and heat test conditions. And leakage tests were carried out before and after the each test. Also, the safety analyses wert performed using computer codes in order to verify the test results. The capsule showed slight scratches and deformation, and maintained its structural and thermal integrities in all tests without any severe damage or melting. It also met the allowable limits of leakage rate after each test. Therefore, it has been verified that the capsule was designed and fabricated to meet all requirements for the special form.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of high strength concretes reinforced with hooked steel fiber. For this purpose, total 36 specimens whose variables are concrete compressive strength, steel fiber aspect ratio, and steel fiber volume contents, are made and tested. From the test results including previous research work, flexural performance of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete is evaluated in terms of flexural strength and toughness index. Flexural behavior of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete is enhanced with respect to the fiber volume content, the aspect ratio, and concrete compressive strength. More efforts are devoted to evaluate quantitatively between the flexural strength and the structural parameters such as the fiber volume content, the aspect ratio, and concrete compressive strength.

  • Fire in underground space may induce severe structural damage as well as heavy casualties. To protect underground structure and passengers from fire, it is very essential to characterize fire-induced damage on construction materials of underground structures. In this study, the high-temperature furnace was manufactured to evaluate fire-induced damage on underground structure materials. Especially, this study aimed at the evaluation of fire-induced damage on the shield TBM concrete segment. In the fire tests, furnace temperature was set to reach 1,200 degrees at five minutes after Ignition. The temperature of 1,200 degrees was kept during one hour, and the fire was extinguished after two hours elapsed. From the temperature measurement by thermocouples embedded in test specimens, the spatting was estimated to reach approximately 20 cm from the surface exposed to fire. After the fire tests, the alteration of physico-mechanical properties and microstructures of concrete segment was investigated from core specimens. The results showed that apart from spatting, the deterioration depth of the remaining concrete material amounted to approximately 10 cm from the spatting surface.

  • This paper presents a two-dimensional grouping index(2DG-index) for efficient processing of XML filtering queries. Recently, many index techniques have been suggested for the efficient processing of structural relationships among the elements in the XML database such as an ancestor- descendant and a parent-child relationship. However, these index techniques focus on simple path queries, and don't consider the path queries that include a condition value for filtering. The 2DG-index is an index structure that deals with the problem of clustering index entries in the twodimensional domain space that consists of a XML path identifier domain and a filtering data value domain. For performance evaluation, we have compared our proposed 2DG-index with the conventional one dimensional index structure such as the data grouping index (DG-index) and the path grouping index (PG-index). As the result of the performance evaluations, we have verified that our proposed 2DG-index can efficiently support the query processing in XML databases according to the query types.

  • Ca $F_2$ films have superior gate insulator properties than conventional gate insulator such as $SiO_2$, Si $N_{x}$, $SiO_{x}$, and T $a_2$ $O_{5}$ to the side of lattice mismatch between Si substrate and interface trap charge density( $D_{it}$). Therefore, this material is enable to apply Thin Film Transistor(TFT) gate insulator. Most of gate oxide film have exhibited problems on high trap charge density, interface state in corporation with O-H bond created by mobile hydrogen and oxygen atom. This paper performed Ca $F_2$ property evaluation as MIM, MIS device fabrication. Ca $F_2$ films were deposited at the various substrate temperature using a thermal evaporation. Ca $F_2$ films was grown as polycrystalline film and showed grain size variation as a function of substrate temperature and RTA post-annealing treatment. C-V, I-V results exhibit almost low $D_{it}$(1.8$\times$10$^{11}$ $cm^{-1}$ /le $V^{-1}$ ) and higher $E_{br}$ (>0.87MV/cm) than reported that formerly. Structural analysis indicate that low $D_{it}$ and high $E_{br}$ were caused by low lattice mismatch(6%) and crystal growth direction. Ca $F_2$ as a gate insulator of TFT are presented in this paper paperaper

  • Silica microsphere is a world leading innovative material used in adsorbent packing materials in HPLC technology. The application of microsphere lies in the ability to the surface modification of silica with the special materials such as polymers, metals and bio-active materials. Collagen is a major structural protein of connective tissues and has a good biocompatibility. In this study, we prepared the purified silica porous microsphere, having micro diameters in the range of a pore volume at least 50% by the aggregation procedure of colloidal silica with the polymerization method (PICA). The microspheres were modified by collagen hydrogel to improve the biocompatible properties for biomedical product. The silica/collagen microsphere composite doped with silver nanoparticles was prepared and investigated the capabilities of biomaterial application through the evaluation of the structure characteristics of the microsphere composit.

  • This paper attempts to re-evaluate the size of housing wealth effect in Korea. Our focus is on the size of 'genuine' housing wealth effect, i.e., the response of consumption spending by home-owners to the changes in housing wealth. Two issues show up while we estimate the 'genuine' wealth effects using aggregate time series data: the issues around home ownership and proper measure of consumption. We first argue that it is more appropriate to use non-housing consumption, because housing consumption is in large part not of the choice of home owners but the imputed rents they do not actually choose to pay. We then proceed to address the issue of home ownership, by examining how much to revise the estimates of housing wealth effect obtained from aggregate non-housing consumption data. We construct two structural models and estimate the share of home-owners' consumption in those models' context. It is found that, if properly revised in light of the estimated consumption shares of home-owners, the magnitude of resulting housing wealth effects are larger than what simple time series regressions imply.

  • When a steel sheet pipe applied to marine environment, an anti-corrosive coating should be treated to obtain long-term life-time for steels, especially, splash zone. Although anti-corrosive property of coatings is required to be tested in real marine environment, it is difficult because of long test time such as 20 years or more time. Therefore, we used cyclic corrosion tester in a laboratory, which has similar conditions with salt-dry-wet process such as real marine environment. Anti-corrosive properties of the coatings and two steels were tested their anti-corrosive properties under cyclic corrosion test conditions(KS D ISO 14993) and the results were compared with estimate life-time in real marine environment. According to cyclic corrosion test, accelerated corrosive factor of each anti-corrosive coating was investigated accelerated corrosive factor from impedance with EIS method. Accelerated corrosive factor of type SS400 carbon steel and A690 was also investigated their accelerated corrosive factor from the regression curves of weigh loss results. One of the anti-corrosive coatings showed about 50 years life-time compared with standard sample life-time. Carbon steel SS400 showed from 0.1 mm/yr to 0.06 mm/yr as its corrosion rate.

  • A method of smart system identification of super high-rise buildings is proposed in which super high-rise buildings are modeled by a shear-bending system. The method is aimed at finding the story shear and bending stiffnesses of a specific story only from the horizontal floor accelerations. The proposed method uses a set of closed-form expressions for the story shear and bending stiffnesses in terms of the limited floor accelerations and utilizes a reduced shear-bending system with the same number of elements as the observation points. A difficulty of prediction of an unstable specific function in a low frequency range can be overcome by introducing an ARX model and discussing its relation with the Taylor series expansion coefficients of a transfer function. It is demonstrated that the shear-bending system can simulate the vibration records with a reasonable accuracy. It is also shown that the vibration records at two super high-rise buildings during the 2011 Tohoku (Japan) earthquake can be simulated with the proposed method including a technique of inserting degrees of freedom between the vibration recording points. Finally it is discussed further that the time-varying identification of fundamental natural period and stiffnesses can be conducted by setting an appropriate duration of evaluation in the batch least-squares method.
