  • Purpose : To investigate academic stress, coping method, and stress symptoms of high school students. Methods : Four hundreds-forty five high school students were studied from 14th July to 21th July, 2006. All subjects were in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade of two high school in Seoul. The academic stress, coping method and stress symptoms were evaluated by questionnaire. Results : Male students showed more academic stress than female students. There was a significant difference in the academic stress according to sex. The 2nd grade students show the highest score of academic stress in the 3 factors(parents, teacher, and friend). Male students used more active coping methods to academic stress than female students. There was a significant difference in the coping methods to academic stress according to sex. There were positive correlations between the academic stress and the stress symptoms. Among the academic stress factors, parents and teacher factor influenced physiologic, psychologic, and behavioral symptom of stress symptoms. The friend factor influenced psychologic and behavioral symptom of stress symptoms. Conclusion : According to the study results, we must provide high school students more effective coping methods to academic stress at school environment.

  • It is important to consider an effect of concrete member sizes when estimating the ACI rectangular stress block of a reinforced concrete flexural member. However, the experimental data and analytical analyses are still not available for a proper evaluation. For all types of loading conditions, the trend is that the size of an ACI rectangular stress block tends to change when the member sizes change. In this paper, the size variations of strength coefficients for ACI rectangular stress block and actual stress distribution have been studied. Results of a series of C-shaped specimens subjected to axial compressive load and bending moment were adopted from references 1 and 2. The analysis results show that the effect of specimen sizes on strength coefficients for ACI rectangular stress block and actual stress distribution of concrete member was apparent. Thus, the results suggest that the current strength criteria based design practice should be reviewed.

  • This study examined the relationship between job stress, burnout, and job satisfaction perceived by 185 beauty workers. Analysis and structural model analyses were conducted to derive the main results. The results are summarized and presented as follows. First, the job stress perceived by beauty workers has a statistically significant positive effect on burnout. Second, job stress perceived by beauty workers has a statistically significant negative effect on job satisfaction. Third, burnout felt by beauty workers has a statistically significant negative effect on job satisfaction. Through the above results, job stress and burnout should be lowered in order to increase the job satisfaction of beauty workers, and in particular, job stress must effectively be lowered in consideration of the fact that job stress is a determinant that increases burnout and reduces job satisfaction. A method must be discovered to achieve this end.

  • Purpose: This study is a correlative study to assess the relationships of fatigue, stress, and burnout among the pregnant nurses in hospital. Methods: The subjects in this study were 103 nurses aged between 22 and 40 who were confirmed as pregnant by the OBGY (Obstetrics and Gynecology) hospital and working at medical facilities located in J-province of G city during the period of July 15 through September 15, 2010. Results: The level of fatigue of pregnant nurses showed an average of 5.60 out of 10 points, and the level of stress showed an average of 25.91. In terms of burnout, the average was 2.72 out of 5 points. The results of the correlative study to assess relationships among fatigue, stress and burnout showed significant positive correlation between burnout and fatigue (r=.47, p<.001) and stress (r=.53, p<.001) and between stress and fatigue (r=.58, p<.001). Therefore, the results show that increased level of fatigue and stress leads to increased level of burnout. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that higher level of fatigue and stress led to higher level of burnout. Therefore, to minimize the burnout of pregnant nurses, many efforts are required in the hospital policy and for the strategies to reduce burnout.

  • The first international inter-laboratory study, involving six laboratories, has been conducted to examine issues associated with yield stress measurements in suspensions. The initial focus of the project was to evaluate the reliability and reproducibility of several common yield stress measuring techniques employed in different laboratories and with different instruments. Aqueous suspensions of colloidal $TiO_2$ at concentrations of 40-70 wt% solids were used as the test fluids. A wide range of instruments and techniques employing both direct and indirect methods were used to determine the yield stress of the samples prepared according to a prescribed procedure. The results obtained indicated that although variations of results existed among different techniques, direct yield stress measurements using static methods produced more reliable and repeatable results than other methods. Variability of the yield stress measured using different techniques within any laboratory however was less significant than variability of the results among different laboratories. The nature and condition of the test suspensions was identified as the most likely factor responsible for the poor reproducibility of yield stress measurements from different laboratories.

  • In systematic and orderly estimation of fatigue strength of the spot welded lap joints, because the influence of residual stress of fatigue crach initiation and growth is not negligible, there need to estimate fatigue strength considered residual stress at near spot weld part of the lap joints. Therefore, in this thesis, peformed stress distribution and residual stress analysis at near the spot weld part by F.E.M and X-ray diffraction method, and obtained the maximum principal stress considered residual stress at nugget edge by superposing residual stress at nugget edge by superposing their results. From the results obtained above, we could find that fatigue strength of the IB-type spot welded lap joints was rearranged by the maximum principal stress considered residual stress at nugget edge and was entirely low about 13 percents compare with that neglected residual stress.

  • The integrity of laser welded structures is decided with fracture strength and fatigue strength. This study presents fracture behavior considering residual stress in the laser welding. Experiments are conducted and analyses are performed to explore the influence of residual stress on fracture behavior of bead-on laser welded compact specimen. Fracture experiments are performed using ASTM 1820. The performed analyses included thermo-elasto-plastic analyses for residual stress and subsequent J-integral calculation. A modified J integral is calculated in the presence of residual stresses. The J-integral is path-independent for combination of residual stress field and stress due to mechanical loading. The results indicates that the tensile residual stress near crack front bring the low fracture load while the compressive residual stress bring the high fracture load compared to no residual stress specimen. These results quantitatively understand the influence of residual stress on fracture behavior.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between nurslng students' self-differentiation, their stress level and stress coping strategies. And following research questions were established. First, what is the difference of the stress level depending on the self-differentiation? Second, what is the difference of stress coping strategies in accordance with the self-differentiation? Participants for this study were 159 students selected from the 1st grades of G University, located in Incheon Metropolitan city. SPSS 10.0 statistic program was taken for drawing its frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation. And t-test, F-test, correlation and multiple regression were conducted. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The mean score for the level of self- differentiation, level of stress, level of stress coping strategies were 3.59, 2.50, 3.35. 2. The relationship between self-differentiation and stress level revealed a negative significant correlation 3. The relationship between self-differentiation and stress coping strategies revealed a no significant correlation. 4. The relationship between stress level and stress coping strategies revealed a no significant correlation. Conclusion: The results of investigating the variation differences depending on stress level, self-differentiation, and stress coping strategies were revealed self-differentiation and stress coping strategies explained stress level by 28.6%.
