This research is conducted to develop an automatic steering system for parallel parking, and the performance of the system was evaluated by parallel parking a conventional vehicle. The automatic steering system consisted of MDPS (motor driven power steering) to control steering, ESC (electronic stability control) to acquire wheel speed, ultrasonic sensors to recognize the parking space, and a controller to communicate and handle data. The parallel parking process using the automatic steering control consisted of parking space recognition, parking path generation, and parking path tracking. The path for parallel parking was generated based on a kinematic model of a conventional vehicle, and a PI controller was used to control the steering angle for path tracking. Parallel parking using the automatic steering control was conducted according to vehicle speed conditions. The results show that the errors on the x-axis and y-axis were below 0.54 m and 0.14 m, respectively, and the error on the steering angle was less than $1^{\circ}$. Therefore, it is possible to implement parallel parking using an automatic steering control system for conventional vehicles.

In this paper we developed the MPC sensor for steering control and steering control of the AGVDS(Autonomous Guided Vehicle Driving System) for Durability test. Among durability tests, the accelerated durability test has been widely used to evaluate the durability of vehicle structure and chassis parts in a short period of time on the designed road that has severe surface conditions. However it increased the drivers fatigue mainly caused by the severe driving conditions. The driver's difficulty to maintain the constant speed and control the steering wheel reduces the reliability of test results. In addition to the general detecting sensor for steering control was restricted by surrounding condition. So we need to develop steering control sensor was robust in the bad driving condition. In this paper we developed steering control sensor using magnetic induction which is robust in the bad driving condition and implemented the AGVDS.

Lane departure avoidance system is one of the key technologies for the future active-safety passenger cars. The lane departure avoidance system is composed of two subsystems; lane sensing algorithm and active-steering controller. In this paper, the road image is obtained by vision sensor and the lane parameters are estimated using image processing and Kalman Filter technique. The active-steering controller is designed to prevent the lane departure. The developed active-steering controller can be realized by steer-by-wire actuator. The lane-sensing algorithm and active-steering controller are implemented into the steering HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) and their performance is evaluated with a human driver in the loop.

Most power steering systems obtain the power by a hydraulic mechanism. Therefore, it consumes more energy because the oil power should be sustained all the times. Recently, to solve this problem the electric power system has been developed and become widely equipped in passenger vehicles. In this research the simulation integration technique for an electric power steering system with MATLAB/SIMULINK and a full vehicle model with ADAMS has been developed. A full vehicle model interacted with electronic control unit algorithm is concurrently simulated with an impulsive steering wheel torque input. The dynamic responses of vehicle chassis and steering system are evaluated. This integrated method allows engineers to reduce the prototype testing cost and to shorten the developing period.

Power steering systems far automobile are becoming ever more popular because they reduce steering efforts of the drivers, especially during parking lot maneuver. In this paper, the controller of the motor driven hydraulic power steering(MDHPS) has been designed and developed. This system uses a power source of DC motor instead of engine power source for power steering drive oil pump. The developed MDHPS system is accomplished a highly sensitive power steering resulted from electronic control under variable driving condition. Furthermore, this system is more improvement than type of engine driving far fuel economy.
Power steering hose is device that operation oil passes between steering gear box and oil pump by parts that is used to do steering system. Because this hose is receiving heat and pressure of high temperature, leakage can produce swaging from hitch of steel materials of done part. In this paper, we analyze swaging process of Power steering hose by finite element analysis, and achieved thermal and pressure analysis with this shape. We can analogize weakness part of hose through this result, and examine closely oil leakage and rubber failure mechanism and look for important design benevolence of power steering hose development.

This study proposes and validates a new column type electric power steering system (EPS-TT). It is driven by a uni-directional motor and two electro-magnetic clutches. The assist motor produces assist torque in only one direction and two clutches transmit the torque to the column of steering system in either left or right direction with respect to the steering input. A full order and a reduced order models are developed to evaluate the EPS-TT. Models are also used to investigate the vehicle responses. A PID control logic is designed to control the torque of the assist motor. A driver model is applied to the system and the resulting performances are analyzed. The results show that the performances of the full order model are similar to those of reduced order model. The results also prove that the performances achieved by the EPS-TT are improved compared to those of a conventional EPS-TT across the frequency domain.
Steering systems are classified as FWS(front-wheel steering), RWS(rear-wheel steering) and AWS(all-wheel steering) according to steering position. AWS is effective to reduce turning radius and platform length because all wheels are steered. Although various rear wheel control logics for AWS were developed, these are applied to four wheel steering cars. Therefore new control logics must be developed to apply articulated vehicles. In the present study, it is suggested how to control the real wheels based on the virtual rigid axles and also how to set it to minimize the turning radius.

The loader of this study is an agriculture machine for a stock farmer. We has much researched about power train and steering system in order to develop a new stock machine. So, the loader developed in this study has a 4 wheel driving system and a 4-type wheel steering system. Though the technological region is some large and general, these technologies are very important and their technical life may be very long. The power train of the loader is consisted of many units as follows, engine, clutch, transmission, and axles. And, the 4-type wheel steering system is consisted of oil tank, oil pump, steering valve, solenold valve, electronic controller, hydraulic cylinders, and touch sensors. This study shows construction logics of power train and steering system. We could know from many working tests that the developed loader with 4-type steeling system has many advantages when driving in a narrow corral.

This paper presents the effects of an assisting motor torque ripple on a driver's steering feeling using a simulink. The EPS(Electric Power Steering) System is modeled as a 5 degrees of freedom for simulation. To find out the influence of a torque ripple on a driver's steering feeling, which is the purpose of this study, we observed the assisting torque in various different speeds, when the torque ripple increased by 0%~40%. The torque ripple had a small but definite influence on the assisting torque, and it had a greater influence in low speeds rather than high speeds.
