  • This article deals with variable selection problem under a newly formed predictive heteroscedastic discriminant rule that accounts for mulitple homogeneous covariance matrices across the K multivariate normal populations. A general version of predictive discriminant rule, a variable selection criterion, and a criterion for stopping with further selection are suggested. In a simulation study the practical utilities of those considered are demonstrated.

  • In the analysis of contingency table with ordered categories, the relationship between odds for adjacent categories has received con-siderable interest. We consider likelihood ratio tests of independence against an order restriction on odds in 2 $\times$ k contingency tables.

  • We consider some robust Bayes estimators using ML-II priors as well as certain empirical Bayes estimators in estimating the finite population mean. The proposed estimators are compared with the sample mean and subjective Bayes estimators in terms of "posterior robustness" and "procedure robustness".re robustness".uot;.

  • For the social network of n nodes, one might be interested in finding k nodes to disseminate the information as quickly as possible or to identify key nodes of high "local centrality". I propose two algorithms for determining k "local centers" of the network and work on a real case.

  • We consider statistical properties of the generalized Capon's method. It is observed that the estimation error of the generalized Capon's method has almost the same variance as the MUSIC method, although the generalized Capon's method yields a slightly biased estimate.

  • The asymptotic distribution of the sample partial autocorrelation terms after lag p of an AR(p) model has been shown by Dixon(1944). The derivation is based on multivariate analysis and looks tedious. In this paper we present an interesting contour-integral derivation.

  • In order to support the development of wind farms in Jejudo, a wind resource database for Jejudo has been established using a meteor-statistical analysis of KIER(Korea Institute of Energy Research) met-mast measurements and KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) weather data. The analysis included wind statistics, tower shading, an exposure category classification using satellite images, the effect of atmospheric stability on the wind profile exponent, and a correlation matrix of wind speed to gain an understanding of the meteorological correlation between long-term weather observation stations and short-term met-mast measurements. The wind resource database for Jejudo, is to be provided as an add-on to Google $Earth^{TM}$, which is expected to be utilized as a guideline for the selection of an appropriate reference site for long-term correction in the next wind farm development project.

  • Recently, there have been lots of study for disease-genetic association using SNPs and haplotypes. Statistical methods and tools for various types of data are developed by many researchers. However, there is no unified software which can handle most of major analysis, and the methods and manners to deal with data are quite different through softwares. And thus it is not easy to researcher to choose proper software. In this study, we devide analyzing procedures into three steps: preliminary analysis, population-based analysis and family-based analysis. We review the statistical methods for each step and compare the features of the FBAT, SAS/Genetics, SAGE and R as major integrating softwares for genetic study.

  • When electromagnetic waves propagate through atmosphere, waves are affected by various factors. Atmosphere normally consists of different molecular species, water vapours, rain, fog, snow and small suspended particles called aerosols. The distributions of atmosphere molecules, water vapours, rain rate, snowfall and aerosol are dependent on geometrical regions or environment. In order to predict propagation characteristics in atmospheric environment, statistical analysis of the relevant parameters such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, areosol and rainfall is crucial. In this paper, we performed a long-term statistical analysis for the atmospheric parameters in domestic environments and analyzed the propagation characteristics through atmosphere based on that.
