H.264/AVC용 고속 다중 참조영상 움직임 예측 알고리즘 (Fast Multi-Frame Motion Estimation Algorithm for H.264 Video Coding)

  • H.264/AVC standard adopts multiple reference frames for motion estimation. This method improves coding efficiency, but it increases complexity of encoder. In this paper, we propose a algorithm that reduces the search range by using the correlation of motion vector. Consequently, motion estimation processing time is 47.5% when compared with standard of five reference frames, and SNR and bitrate are better than that of standard of three multi reference frames.

Conversion of the Sonic Conductance C and the Critical Pressure Ratio b into the Airflow Coefficient ${\mu}$

  • In a case of computer simulation used for the verification of pneumatic system performance one of the main problems is that various parameters can be used to describe flow characteristics of the system components. The Standard ISO 6358 offers two parameters: the sonic conductance C and the critical static pressure ratio b, but the parameters can not be directly utilised in an analysis of a pneumatic system. In the standard analysis there is applied the airflow coefficient ${\mu}$, but it is not presented in the vendors' catalogues. In the paper the numerical algorithm for calculation of the airflow coefficient ${\mu}$. (which is required for computer simulation) as a function of sonic conductance C and a critical pressure ratio b (recommended by the standard) is presented. Additionally, because of the iterative character of the described algorithm, an artificial neural network approach to solve the problem is proposed.

  • As the computer related technology evolves a study for a practical use of real structure as well as its hteory for optimum design has been greatly advanced. But the study on optimum design of pre-stressed concrete beam(PSC-beam) bridge for the construction of national roads and highways in Korea is not sufficient. Since a standard section for the PSC-beam is proposed, it is practically used in designing the PSC-beam. It is noticed that the section using the current standard PSC-beam design to be an over-designed with its surplus safety factor. Therefore, it is necessary to consider economical PSC-beam section which automatically satisfies all requirement of design specifications. Thus, in this study, the optimum design methods of PSC-beam are carried out using the gradient-based search method and global search method. As a result of the optimum design method, it was confirmed that the design of PSC-beam has a serious properties to non-linearity and discontinuity. And the section that in economical and efficinet design methods than the current standard design method is proposed.

자동부품검사를 위한 웨이블렛 변환 기반 영상정합 (Wavelet Transform Based Image Template Matching for Automatic Component Inspection)

  • We propose a template matching method for component inspection of SMD assembly system. To discriminate wrong assembled components, the input image of component is matched with its standard image by template matching algorithm. For a fast inspection system, the calculation time of matching algorithm should be reduced. Since the standard images of all components located in a PCB are stored in computer, it is desirable to reduce the memory size of standard image. We apply the discrete wavelet transformation to reduce the image size as well as the calculation time. Only 7% memory of the BMP image is used to discriminate goodness or badness of components assembly. Comparative results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

Scene Change Detection using the Automated Threshold Estimation Algorithm

  • This paper presents a method for detecting scene changes in video sequences, in which the $chi^{2}$-test is modified by imposing weights according to NTSC standard. To automatically determine threshold values for scene change detection, the proposed method utilizes the frame differences that are obtained by the weighted $chi^{2}$-test. In the first step, the mean and the standard deviation of the difference values are calculated, and then, we subtract the mean difference value from each difference value. In the next step, the same process is performed on the remained difference values, mean-subtracted frame differences, until the stopping criterion is satisfied. Finally, the threshold value for scene change detection is determined by the proposed automatic threshold estimation algorithm. The proposed method is tested on various video sources and, in the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed method is reliably estimates the thresholds and detects scene changes.

Modified Weighted Filter Algorithm for Noise Elimination In Mixed Noise Environments

  • Noise is regarded as an unwanted component of the image because it significantly reduces image quality. And image is often corrupted by mixed noise. In this paper an efficient modified weighted filter algorithm which combines spatial weight and intensity weight is proposed for removing mixed noise. In the proposed method, the filtering mask is separated into the four sub-windows and the parameters of the weights are confirmed by calculating local standard deviation and the mean of four sub-windows' standard deviations. Considering the spatial information and intensity information, the proposed method has good performance on not only noise elimination but also preservation of details. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method performs better than conventional algorithms.

Noise Estimation based on Standard Deviation and Sigmoid Function Using a Posteriori Signal to Noise Ratio in Nonstationary Noisy Environments

  • In this paper, we propose a new noise estimation and reduction algorithm for stationary and nonstationary noisy environments. This approach uses an algorithm that classifies the speech and noise signal contributions in time-frequency bins. It relies on the ratio of the normalized standard deviation of the noisy power spectrum in time-frequency bins to its average. If the ratio is greater than an adaptive estimator, speech is considered to be present. The propose method uses an auto control parameter for an adaptive estimator to work well in highly nonstationary noisy environments. The auto control parameter is controlled by a linear function using a posteriori signal to noise ratio(SNR) according to the increase or the decrease of the noise level. The estimated clean speech power spectrum is obtained by a modified gain function and the updated noisy power spectrum of the time-frequency bin. This new algorithm has the advantages of much more simplicity and light computational load for estimating the stationary and nonstationary noise environments. The proposed algorithm is superior to conventional methods. To evaluate the algorithm's performance, we test it using the NOIZEUS database, and use the segment signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and ITU-T P.835 as evaluation criteria.

  • 본 논문은 신속조형(RP: rapid prototyping) 시스템에서 사용되며 3D 기하학적 형상 모델을 가지고 있는 STL(standard transform language)에 워터마크를 삽입하는 방법에 관한 연구이다. 제안된 알고리즘은 3D 형상 데이터의 왜곡이 전혀 없이 패싯(facet, mesh)의 버텍스(vertex) 영역에 워터마크를 삽입한다. 기존의 알고리즘으로 STL에 워터마크를 삽입할 경우, 패싯의 저장순서를 변경하는 단순한 공격으로도 워터마크가 제거된다. 제안된 알고리즘은 패싯의 저장 순서 변경과 같은 공격에 대한 강인성을 가질 뿐만 아니라, 비가시성(invisibility)도 충족한다. 제안된 알고리즘으로 STL 3D 형상에 워터마크를 삽입하고 추출하는, 실험 결과들은 3D 원형상을 전혀 왜곡하지 않고 워터마크의 삽입과 추출이 가능함을 보여준다.

FM DARC용 교통정보 변환알고리즘 개발 (A Study on Developing Traffic Data Converting Algorithm for FM DARC)

  • 본 연구는 FM DARC(DAta Radio Channel) 부가방송을 이용하여 실시간 교통정보를 제공하기 위한 교통정보 변환알고리즘 개발을 목표로 한다. FM DARC 교통정보 제공시스템을 효과적으로 구축하기 위해서는 각종 검지기로부터 수집된 데이터가 하나의 표준화된 교통정보, 즉 정보의 양과 질 그리고 포맷이 같은 정보로 가공되어 전송되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 GIS 노드-링크 체계에 기반을 둔 교통정보 변환알고리즘을 개발하여 클라이언트/서버 환경의 FM DARC 교통정보시스템을 구현하여 보았다. 본 논문은 FM DARC에 관하여 간략하게 서술한 후 GIS DB와 교통정보 변환알고리즘 그리고 구현된 시스템에 내한 내용으로 구성되었다.

  • The common requirements of rough terrain mobile robots are long-term operation and high mobility in rough terrain to perform difficult tasks. In rough terrain, excessive wheel slip could cause an increase in the amount of dissipated energy at the contact point between the wheel and ground or, even more seriously, the robot could lose all mobility and become trapped. This paper proposes a traction control algorithm that can be independently implemented to each wheel without requiring extra sensors and devices compared with standard velocity control methods. The proposed traction algorithm is analogous to the stick-slip friction mechanism. The algorithm estimates the slippage of wheels by angular acceleration change, and controls the increase or decrease state of torque applied to wheels Simulations are performed to validate the algorithm. The proposed traction control algorithm yielded a 65.4% reduction of total slip distance and 70.6% reduction of power consumption compared with the standard velocity control method.
