신설 광역철도 운전속도 향상방안 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Train Operation Speed for the New Metropolitan Railway)

  • A wide metropolitan railway and a metropolitan railway in metropolitan area are transportation systems to cope with possible large demand and are under construction continually. A wide metropolitan railway and a metropolitan railway in metropolitan area are running with low speed because it is difficult to improve train speed according to short distances between stations and topography. There is a few study on improving commercial speed on the existing wide metropolitan railway and metropolitan railway in metropolitan area, but there is no study on a new wide metropolitan railway. This study present speed-up scheme of the Sosa-Wonsi line by enlarging the curve radius, reducing the horizontal steep gradient, reducing the stopping time, speeding up at underground section, and installing the PSD, etc. This scheme is evaluated using the simulation technique.

Verification of Speed-up Mechanism of Pedestrian-level Winds Around Square Buildings by CFD

  • Various studies have been conducted on pedestrian-level wind environments around buildings. With regard to the speed-up mechanism of pedestrian-level winds, there are references to downwash effect due to the vertical pressure gradient of boundary layer flow and venturi effect due to flow blocking by the building. Two factors contribute to increase or decrease of downwash effect: change in twodimensional / three-dimensional air flow pattern (Type 1) and change in downwash wind speed due to building size that does not accompany change in airflow pattern (Type 2). Previous studies have shown that downwash effect has a greater influence in increasing or decreasing the area of strong wind than venturi effect. However, these considerations are derived from the horizontal mean wind speed distribution at pedestrian level and are not the result of three-dimensional flow field around the building. Therefore, in this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics using Large Eddy Simulation were performed to verify the downwash phenomena that contributes to increase in wind speed at pedestrian level.

  • R-Bar (Overhead Rigid Conductor system) has been lately used for the speed of over 200km/h in Europe, while it has been developed and used for the max. speed of 120km/h in Korea. Because R-Bar has advantages of reduction of tunnel cross sectional area and maintenance, its development for more high-speed is urgent in Korea having many mountain area. Therefore a sensitivity analysis of design parameters for the speed-up of R-Bar has performed in this study. For the analysis, we have developed a program for the prediction of dynamic characteristics between a pantograph and R-Bar. The program was evaluated with the actual test result and a current collection performance according to the parameters such as a distance between brackets, a stiffness of bracket and of R-Bar rail was predicted with the program.

  • When actual IPMSM is driving, it is difficult to figure out the correct current during the current control period due to the operation speed limit of digital signal processing. Therefore, in order to control IPMSM for electric vehicle efficiently, we should design 2D Look-up Table to find out optimal current reference corresponding to speed and torque of IPMSM. This paper explains the design method of 2D Look-up Table for optimal current control of constant torque area and constant output area of IPMSM for electric vehicle. Finally, experimental results are presented to verify the reliability of 2D Look-up Table.

Reconfigurable Multi-Array Architecture for Low-Power and High-Speed Embedded Systems

  • Coarse-grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA) based embedded systems aims to achieve high system performance with sufficient flexibility to map a variety of applications. However, the CGRA has been considered as prohibitive one due to its significant area/power overhead and performance bottleneck. In this work, I propose reconfigurable multi-array architecture to reduce power/area and enhance performance in configurable embedded systems. The CGRA-based embedded systems that consist of hierarchical configurable computing arrays with varying size and communication speed were examined for multimedia and other applications. Experimental results show that the proposed approach reduces on-chip area by 22%, execution time by up to 72% and reduces power consumption by up to 55% when compared with the conventional CGRA-based architectures.

고속 Radix-8 나비연산기구조 (High-Speed Radix-8 Butterfly Structure)

  • In this paper, a Radix-8 structure for high-speed FFT is proposed. Even throughput of the Radix-8 FFT is twice than that of the Radix-4 FFT, implementation area of the Radix-8 is larger than that of Radix-4 FFT. But, implementation area of the proposed Radix-8 FFT was reduced by using DA(Distributed Arithmetic) for multiplication. The Verilog-HDL coding results for the proposed FFT structure show 49.2% cell area increment comparison with those of the conventional Radix-4 FFT structure. Namely, to speed up twice, 49.2% of area cost is required. In case of same throughput, power consumption of the proposed structure is reduced by 25.4%.

자동차 대기오염물질이 고속도로 인접지역에 미치는 농도 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study of Concentration Prediction of Automobile Air Pollutant Near the Highway)

  • The influence of transportation on air quality has been elevating in urban area. Air pollutants from automobiles cause primary and secondary air pollution, and need to be tightly controlled. In this study, the effect of automobile air pollutants on highway vicinity area was evaluated by the comparison of field measurement. and target was for modeling using CALINE3, NO2 was the target for this work. It was found that the concentration predicted by CALINE3 is overestimated at low wind speed and input data of wind speed requires correction. Based on the measured data, the wind speed was modified by effective wind speed equation [Ue=U+0.24·EXP(-pxU)], and there after the accuracy of CALINE3 calculation was improved neighborhood area of highway. It was also observed that weather conditions and traffic volume affect the concentration of air pollution. Finally, the NO2 effect of automobile air pollutants on the vicinity area of highway proved to be up to 400∼600m from the highway.

  • High-speed railway system is exposed to severe aerodynamic problems and has various requirements both on design and operation; 80% of running resistance is composed of aerodynamic drag, the cross-sectional area and portal shape of tunnel should be designed under aerodynamic consideration, and natural wind velocity should always be monitored to prevent the overturning of train by crosswinds. In addition, most of the aerodynamic problems are proportional to the running speed or square of the running speed. Thus, when the running speed of a high-speed railway system either on operation or under construction is to be increased, the aerodynamic problems should be assessed in advance and the countermeasures should be prepared to alleviate the aerodynamic problems to meet certain requirements. In this study, aerodynamic problems that could occur at speed up of high-speed line have been investigated and aerodynamic requirements to meet the increased operational speed have been studied referring the international and domestic rules, guidance, and recommendations.

  • There should be a need for measures to build up environmentally friendly transport system with new town for residence being built near metropolitan area. In order to promote the development of station influence area, convenience for public transport users and LRT(Light Rail Transit) construction, request for the speed improvement of urban transit is on the rise for easy access to the metropolitan area. This paper delves into the efficient operation of high speed train suitable for passenger demand estimates, and seeks to ensure integrated transportation system with subway Line 9 following the construction of Gimpo urban railway.

  • The purpose of present study is to investigate for reducing pressure fluctuations in the case of installing the air-shafts on the side wall of the tunnel with small cross-sectional area on conventional line. Experiments were performed with a 1/61-scale moving model rig for the tunnel of 0.764 km length in the condition of tunnel cross-section area of $28 m^2$. According to the results, the maximum pressure fluctuation is reduced by 45 % for 19 air-shafts. This results have the speed-up effects of about 33.4 km/h for the train running in tunnel.
