A Study on Track Maintenance Scheduling of High-Speed Railway (고속철도 궤도유지보수 일정계획에 관한 연구)

  • The track of high-speed railway get deteriorated according as using it. In that case, the maintenance jobs are needed for improvement of track quality. A scheduling problem for the track maintenance of high-speed railway is to determine the jobs should be performed daily. In the problem, the set of jobs for maintenance is given. Each job has it's parameters such as due date, emergency level, and processing time. In addition, jobs can be worked during a certain fixed time when the train doesn't move. In this study, we developed a mathematical model of the scheduling problem for the maintenance of high-speed railway and solved the problem using the ILOG CPLEX library.

  • Present maintenance of a high speed railway is after the fack maintenance that executes a task when measured value goes over threshold value except some planned maintenance. It is difficult from efficient management of maintenance human resource and equipment commitment because it is difficult to predict quantity of maintenance targets. Corrective maintenance is pushed back on the repair priority of other target to need repair and it is exceeded repair cost potentially. For safety and dependable track management because track deterioration prediction is linked directly with track's life and safety of train service, it is very important that track management be based on preventive maintenance. In this study, we propose statistics model of track quality to use track inspection data and forecast model for track deterioration prediction.

  • The high-speed railway track occurs train operating result track irregularity, subsidence of the track, ballast abrasion. This is the unusual condition. High-speed railway track maintenance task is the behavior which repairs unusual section by using the human resource or machine resource. The resource used to maintenance task is restrictive. A resource can be efficiently used if the high-speed railway track maintenance scheduling is used. So the more task can be performed in the fit time. In conclusion, this manages the unusual condition of a track efficiently. So additional expenses is minimized cause by deteriorating unusual condition. And it offers comfortable ride to passenger. However, maintenance scheduling has to reflect well practical situation and environment. That's maintenance scheduling is used. We gather the opinions of the hands-on workers. So in this paper define field situation and condition. And suggest mathematical model about this. And we developed the track maintenance scheduling software engine using ILOG.

  • In the field of maintenance of domestic high-speed railroad which has cost a great deal more than any other fields since it was opened; 1) We found out the conditions of current domestic railroad by understanding the status of track maintenance and analyzing operative processes of track maintenance. 2) The main factors in track maintenance of high-speed railroad, that is, the elements for success to help decision-support in track maintenance were derived from a research on literature about the condition of railroad R&D in these days and about the prediction of the irregular progresses of track. 3) We derived the order of priority and weights from AHP analysis which was based on the survey regarding elements for success.

  • It is estimated that the running of locally-developed next generation High Speed Trains with maximum speed of 400km/h will help to deteriorate track components. It was presented rail defect coding system in UIC 712R includes the definitions of damage types of rail, maintenance procedures, and etc to detect and maintain. It is necessary to make a track maintenance manual determining track maintenance periods using the standardization of damage types of track components such as: sleeper, fastener, elastic pad. In this paper, the damage types of high speed track components are investigated by referring domestic and foreign literatures. And then the damage types of rail given in UIC 712R is reclassified more particularly and classified damage types of track components using internal high speed railway. In conclusion, this paper suggests standardization for damage types of track components on internal high speed railway.

  • In recent years, with the rapid development of large and medium-sized urban rail transit in China, the total operating mileage of high-speed railway and the total number of EMUs(Electric Multiple Units) are rising. The system complexity of high-speed EMU is constantly increasing, which puts forward higher requirements for the safety of equipment and the efficiency of maintenance.At present, the maintenance mode of high-speed EMU in China still adopts the post maintenance method based on planned maintenance and fault maintenance, which leads to insufficient or excessive maintenance, reduces the efficiency of equipment fault handling, and increases the maintenance cost. Based on the intelligent operation and maintenance technology of PHM(prognostics and health management). This thesis builds an integrated PHM platform of "vehicle system-communication system-ground system" by integrating multi-source heterogeneous data of different scenarios of high-speed EMU, and combines the equipment fault mechanism with artificial intelligence algorithms to build a fault prediction model for traction motors of high-speed EMU.Reliable fault prediction and accurate maintenance shall be carried out in advance to ensure safe and efficient operation of high-speed EMU.

  • The present paper to relate with the maintenance of the high-speed vehicle, KTX and is to treat a reliability evaluation. The reliability of the high-speed vehicle while operating between-failure average mileage (MKBSF) and parts between-failure average mileage (MKBF), 1,000,000 per km service failure number of items and availability and per km evaluated a maintenance expense. The reliability evaluation results and 2007 year reliability management indexes compared in 2006 years and they improved, per km the maintenance expense compared at 2006 and 36.6% was decreased. Reliability management activity leads and availability of the high-speed vehicle, safety improves and with the fact that will be able to decrease the maintenance expense which is an economic scale of railroad service is expected.

  • As it recently appears that Life Cycle Cost Analysis may be considered as new methodology for economic valuation of infrastructure many researches have been made to assess LCC(Life Cycle Cost) of each facility based on a reasonable methods. In general, LCC is composed of construction cost and expected maintenance repair cost. And especially, maintenance repair cost must be estimated to enhance the reliability through systematic and reasonable methods. However in Korea, because high speed railway steel bridges are recently constructed no direct statistical data are available for the account of the maintenance cost and then their maintenance characteristics are not linear yet. Therefore, the approach proposed in the paper utilizes a theoretical determination and degradation of the corrosion and fatigue of the bridges based on Rahgozar et al.(2006)'s model on fatigue notch factor considering into the corrosion to incorporate the corrosion effect into the fatigue strength reduction model. And then, the corresponding probability of failure is calculated in terms of the reliability index using S-N curve to formulate the fatigue limit state. Therefore, this paper proposes the minimum Life Cycle Cost through optimum maintenance plan analysis of high-speed railway steel bridges under construction. Finally, this paper reviews the proposed model in oder to confirm the applicability and feasibility by appling it to high speed railway steel bridges under construction

  • In this paper, Computer-aided Maintenance Equipments, which are being used in maintenance, are applied to analyze failures in train control systems, resulting in long time delays of trains. It can be expected to extend and apply CAMS (Computer Aided Maintenance System) in the hereafter efficient operation and maintenance of high-speed railway train control systems, by comparison between the analysis result of fundamental causes, from high-speed railway train control system failures occurred during the operational process, and predictive result of failure causes, based on the recording data of CAMS when failures were occurred.

  • With the introduction of KTX, in my view it is necessary to secure the reliability of high-speed trains, make them stabilized at the earliest moment possible, and completely digest them as our own system for the purpose of being second to none in the area of railroad business. I am going to study in this thesis through analysis of train failures by help of MKBSF calculation, breaking from the convention in maintaining the high-speed trains, in order to establish and apply the computerized system called as RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance), foster manpower in charge of the reliability maintenance, and realize the scientific and efficient maintenance covering the whole field of maintenance. Depending on how efficiently and scientifically we can perform the maintenance activities, we will be able to not only reduce the maintenance cost but also ensure the railroad security, and as a natural consequence improve the railroad image much better.
