  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive wavelet method for car interior noise cancellation. For this purpose, we use a node dependent threshold which minimizes the Bayesian risk. We propose a noise estimation method based on spectral entropy using histogram of intensity and a candidate best basis instead of Donoho's best bases. And we modify the hard threshold function. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more efficient, especially to heavy noisy signal than conventional one.

  • We have investigated the spectral characteristics of the semiconductor lasers locked to the sidebands of the master laser in this paper, which were expressed by a series of the Bessel function. The numerical model for the semiconductor lasers based on the typical Lang's equation has been extended in order to take into account the simultaneous injection of the multiple sidebands of the directly modulated ML. We analyses characteristics of direct intensity modulation.

  • Phase shift spectroscopy is applied to Eu(Ⅲ) luminescence from $Eu^{3+}$-exchanged Y zeolite. The phase shift and intensity modulation of luminescence following intensity-modulated excitation are measured as a function of modulation frequency and they are fitted into a double exponential decay. The fast decay component, compared with the slow one, has narrower spectral bandwidth and is emitted from the $Eu^{3+}$ that has more polar and definite environment with higher symmetry and that interacts more easily with hydrated water molecules. The fast decay component is attributed to $Eu^{3+}$ at site Ⅱ' while the slow one to $Eu^{3+}$ at sites Ⅰ' and Ⅰ.

  • Pyroelectric TGS(triglycine sulfate) detectors, whose thicknesses are 0.1mm and 0.2 mm, are fabricated using the grown TGS crystals from aqueous solution. The outut power and noise from these detectors are measured as a function of chopping frequency in the range from 10Hz to 160Hz with the interval of 10Hz. Response time, responsivity and detectivity are derived from the measured output power and noise of the detectors. The results show that the response time is about 15ms, resposivity is 100V/W at 10Hz and the detectivity at the maximum spectral wavelength D{{{{ lambda }}P* is about 10 cmHz1/2w-1.

  • The aim of this work is to present some interesting results on weighted ergodic functions and prove the existence and uniqueness of Stepanov-like pseudo almost automorphic solutions using the spectral decomposition of the phase space developed by Adimy and co-authors. We also give the next challenge of this work.

  • A Walsh function based associative memory is capable of storing m patterns in a single pattern storage space with Walsh encoding of each pattern. Furthermore, each stored pattern can be matched against the stored patterns extremely fast using algorithmic parallel processing. As such, this special type of memory is ideal for real-time processing of large scale information. However this incredible efficiency generates large amount of crosstalk between stored patterns that incurs mis-recognition. This crosstalk is a function of the set of different sequencies [number of zero crossings] of the Walsh function associated with each pattern to be stored. This sequency set is thus optimized in this paper to minimize mis-recognition, as well as to maximize memory saying. In this paper, this Walsh memory has been applied to the problem of face recognition, where PCA is applied to dimensionality reduction. The maximum Walsh spectral component and genetic algorithm (GA) are applied to determine the optimal Walsh function set to be associated with the data to be stored. The experimental results indicate that the proposed methods provide a novel and robust technology to achieve an error-free, real-time, and memory-saving recognition of large scale patterns.

  • Responses of marine vehicles and ocean structures in a seaway can be predicted by applying the probabilistic approach. When we consider a linear system, the responses in a random seaway can be evaluated through spectral analysis in the frequency domain. But when we treat nonlinear system in irregular waves, it is necessary to get time history of waves. In the previous study we introduced one-directional waves (long crested waves)as wave environment and carried out calculations and experiments in the waves. But the real sea in which marine vehicles and structures are operated has multi-directional waves (short crested waves). It is important to get a simulated random sea and analyse dynamic problems in the sea. We need entire sample function or probabillty density function to infer statistical value of random process. However if the process are ergodic process, we can get statistical values by analysis of one sample function. In this paper, we developed the simulation technique of multi-directional waves and proved that the time history given by this method keep ergodic characteristics by the statistical analysis.

  • Based on the alternating series expansion of error probability function due to phase noise in PSK systems, the performance evaluations for Tikhonov and Gaussian probability density functions were performed in this paper. The range of the signal-to-noise ratio of recovered carrier signal which provides the same dependency between the error performances by Tikhonov function and Gaussian function was analyzed via loss evaluation due to phase noise. The phase noise with 1/f$^2$ characteristic was generated based on the relationship of the phase noise spectral density and the modulation index for frequency modulation signal. Using the generated phase noise as the input signal for digital satellite communication receiver, the performance losses due to the phase noise were measured and evaluated with the analyzed performance characteristics.

  • In this paper, the characteristic of intrinsic mode function(IMF) and its orthogonalization of ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD), which is often used in the analysis of the non-linear or non-stationary signal, has been studied. In the decomposition process, the orthogonal IMF of EEMD was obtained by applying the Gram-Schmidt(G-S) orthogonalization method, and was compared with the IMF of orthogonal EMD(OEMD). Two signals for comparison analysis are adopted as the analytical test function and El Centro seismic wave. These target signals were compared by calculating the index of orthogonality(IO) and the spectral energy of the IMF. As a result of the analysis, an IMF with a high IO was obtained by GSO method, and the orthogonal EEMD using white noise was decomposed into orthogonal IMF with energy closer to the original signal than conventional OEMD.

  • The noise itself that affects the sensor array is defined as the noise which happens in the place where the system is installed and the circumference noise which comes from the ocean. The array structure for detecting acoustic signal in the underwater effected turbulent layer flow noise. In this paper to design the conformal array spectral density function was introduced and several cases of flow induced noise which affect transfer function were simulated. Modified Corcos wall pressure model was used as turbulent boundary layer flow noise. The effect of noise has been reduced as integrated sum of transfer function has been reduced by decreasing elastomer thickness and density when kx is in low wave number area. Also the characteristics of transfer function by Corcos wall pressure displayed the product of frequency density function. This simulation results can be applied to the conformal array design in unmmaned underwater vehicle in the near future.
