Since the days of yore, plate's flexural analysis and formulation were dependent on the assumed coordinate system. In uncovering the coordinates-independent flexural interpretation, in this study, the plate bending analysis has been interpreted in terms of the tensor's components of curvatures and bending moments, in accordance with the continuum mechanics. The paper herein presents the theoretical formulations and conceptual perspectives of the Hydrostatic Method of Analysis (HM) that combines the continuum mechanics with the elasticity theory; the graphical statics and analysis; the theory of thin isotropic and orthotropic plates.
The purpose of this study is to determine the weights of the factors for landslide susceptibility analysis using artificial neural network. Landslide locations were identified from interpretation of aerial photographs, field survey data, and topography. The landslide-related factors such as topographic slope, topographic curvature, soil drainage, soil effective thickness, soil texture, wood age and wood diameter were extracted from the spatial database in study area, Yongin. Using these factors, the weights of neural networks were calculated by backpropagation training algorithm and were used to determine the weight of landslide factors. Therefore, by interpreting the weights after training, the weight of each landslide factor can be ranked based on its contribution to the classification. The highest weight is topographic slope that is 5.33 and topographic curvature and soil texture are 1 and 1.17, respectively. Weight determination using backprogpagation algorithms can be used for overlay analysis of GIS so the factor that have low weight can be excluded in future analysis to save computation time.

The homogeneity of the compacted ground was analyzed using drone-based remote terrain and gravity field data. Among the topographic elements calculated by the hydrological algorithm, the topographic curvature effectively showed the shape of the surface that occurred during the compaction process, and the non-uniformly compacted area could be identified. The appropriate resolution of the digital topography requires a precision of about 10 cm. Gravity field Interpretation was performed to analyze the spatial density change of the compacted ground. In the distribution of residual bouguer gravity anomaly, the non-homogeneously compacted area showed a different magnitude of gravity than the surrounding area, and the difference in compaction was identified through gravity-density modeling. From the results, it is expected that the topographic element and gravitational field analysis method can be used to evaluate the homogeneity of the compacted ground.
We introduce a geometric processing method for freeform surfaces based on high-precision torus patch approximation, a new spatial data structure for efficient geometric operations on freeform surfaces. A torus patch fits the freeform surface with flexibility: it can handle not only positive and negative curvature but also a zero curvature. It is possible to precisely approximate the surface regardless of the convexity/concavity of the surface. Unlike the traditional method, a torus patch easily bounds the surface normal, and the offset of the torus becomes a torus again, thus helps the acceleration of various geometric operations. We have shown that the torus patch's approximation accuracy of the freeform surface is high by measuring the upper bound of the two-sided Hausdorff distance between the freeform surface and set of torus patches. Using the method, it can be easily processed to detect an intersection curve between two freeform surfaces and find the offset surface of the freeform surface.

A shell structure, having a curvature with a curved surface, is an extremely efficient mechanical creation regard to the external load. A basic structural resistance mechanism is the structural system, which is resisted the out-of-plane direction load by in-plane forces using the structure's curvature. Therefore, it has a merit to make thin and lightweight large spacial structures using minimum materials. Among the large spare structural system, the rapid development of the membrane structures, cable structures and the hybrid structures are watched recently. But, this kind of structural system shows the unstable phenomenon by snap-through or bifurcation according to the shape of structure, and the understanding of the collapse mechanism by this phenomenon is very important to the design process. In this study, I investigated the unstable characteristics of the Geiger-type, Zetlin-type and flower-type hybrid cable dome structures, which is the lightweight hybrid structures using compression and tension elements continuously, according to the difference of structural system.
There are much damage of people and property because of heavy rain every year. Especially, there are problem to major facility such as dam, bridge, road, tunnel, and industrial complex in the ground stability. So the counter plan for landslide or ground failure must be necessary In the study, the technique of regional landslide susceptibility assessment near the Ulsan petrochemical complex and Kumgang railway bridge was developed and applied using GIS. For the assessment, the geological structures such as bedding and fault were surveyed and the geological structure, topographic, soil, forest, and land use spatial database were constructed using CIS. Using the spatial database, the factors that influence landslide occurrence, such as slope, aspect, curvature and type of topography, texture, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil, type, age, diameter and density of forest, and land use were calculated or extracted from the spatial database. For application of geological structure, the geological structure line and fault density were calculated. Landslide susceptibility was analyzed using the landslide-occurrence factors by probability method that is summation of landslide occurrence probability values per each factors range or type. The landslide susceptibility map can be used to assess ground stability to protect major facility.

Backgrounds: The present study in angulated coronary stenosis was to evaluate the influence of velocity and wall shear stress (WSS) on coronary atherosclerosis, the changes of hemodynamic indices following coronary stenting, as well as their effect of evolving in-stent restenosis using human in vivo hemodynamic parameters and computed simulation quantitatively and qualitatively. Methods: Initial and follow-up coronary angiographies in the patients with angulated coronary stenosis were performed (n=80). Optimal coronary stenting in angulated coronary stenosis had two models: < 50 % angle changed(model 1, n=43), > 50% angle changed group (model 2, n=37) according to percent change of vascular angle between pre- and post-intracoronary stenting. Flow-velocity wave obtained from in vivo intracoronary Doppler study data was used for in vitro numerical simulation. Spatial and temporal patterns of velocity vector and recirculation area were drawn throughout the selected segment of coronary models. WSS of pre/post-intracoronary stenting were calculated from three-dimensional computer simulation. Results: Follow-up coronary angiogram demonstrated significant difference in the percent of diameter stenosis between two groups (group 1: $40.3{\pm}30.2$ vs. group 2: $25.5{\pm}22.5%$, p<0.05). Negative WSS area on 3D simulation, which is consistent with re-circulation area of velocity vector, was noted on the inner wall of post-stenotic area before stenting. The negative WSS was disappeared after stenting. High spatial and temporal WSS before stenting fell into within physiologic WSS after stenting. This finding was prominent in Model 2 (p<0.01) Conclusions: The present study suggests that hemodynamic forces exerted by pulsatile coronary circulation termed as WSS might affect on the evolution of atherosclerosis within the angulated vascular curvature. Moreover, geometric change, such as angular difference between pre / post-intracoronary stenting might give proper information of optimal hemodynamic charateristics for vascular repair after stenting.
The purpose of this study is the analyses of the relationship between geology and terrain/satellite image in the southern part of the Bandung, Indonesia to provide basic information fur geological survey. For this, topography, geology and satellite image were constructed to spatial database. Digital elevation, slope, aspect, curvature, hill shade of topography were calculated from the topographic database and lithology was imported from the geologi-cal database. Lineament, lineament density, and NDVI were extracted the Landsat TM satellite image. The results showed the close relationship between geology and terrain and satellited image. Each sedimentary rocks seldom correspond with geology and analyses of topography but as a whole fur sedimentary rocks coincide with them. Tuff and volcanic breccia in the volcanic rocks correspond with the result of terrain analyses. Talus deposit is well matched with the analyses of topography/satellite image.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the susceptibility of landslides at Kangneung area, Korea, using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing. Landslide locations were identified from interpretation of satellite image and field surveys. The topographic, soil, forest, geologic, lineament and land cover data were collected, processed and constructed into a spatial database using GIS and remote sensing data. Using frequency ratio model which is one of the probability model, the relationships between landslides and related factors such as slope, aspect, curvature and type of topography, texture, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil, type, age, diameter and density of wood, lithology, distance from lineament and land cover were calculated as frequency ratios. Then, the frequency ratio were summed to calculate a landslide susceptibility indexes and the landslide susceptibility maps were generated using the indexes. The results of the analysis were verified and cross-validated using actual landslide location data. The verification results showed satisfactory agreement between the susceptibility map and the existing data on landslide locations.

The purpose of this study is to develop landslide susceptibility analysis techniques using artificial neural networks and to apply the newly developed techniques for assessment of landslide susceptibility to the study area of Yongin in Korea. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of aerial Photographs and field survey data, and a spatial database of the topography, soil type and timber cover were constructed. The landslide-related factors such as topographic slope, topographic curvature, soil texture, soil drainage, soil effective thickness, timber age, and timber diameter were extracted from the spatial database. Using those factors, landslide susceptibility and weights of each factor were analyzed by two artificial neural network methods. In the first method, the landslide susceptibility index was calculated by the back propagation method, which is a type of artificial neural network method. Then, the susceptibility map was made with a GIS program. The results of the landslide susceptibility analysis were verified using landslide location data. The verification results show satisfactory agreement between the susceptibility index and existing landslide location data. In the second method, weights of each factor were determinated. The weights, relative importance of each factor, were calculated using importance-free characteristics method of artificial neural networks.
