  • For simple undirected graph G=(V,E), L(2,1)-coloring of G is a nonnegative real-valued function f : V → [0,1,…,k] such that whenever vertices x and y are adjacent in G then |f(x)-f(y)|≥ 2 and whenever the distance between x and y is 2, |f(x)-f(y)|≥ 1. For a given L(2,1)-coloring c of graph G, the c-span is λ(c) = max{|c(v)-c(v)||u,v∈V}. L(2,1)-coloring number λ(G) = min{λ(c)} where the minimum is taken over all L(2,1)-coloring c of graph G. In this paper, based on Harary's Theorem, we use Tabu Search to figure out the existence of Hamiltonian Path in a complementary graph and confirmed that if λ(G) is equal to n(=|V|).

  • A three-dimensional computation was conducted to understand effects of the low Reynolds number on the performance in a low-speed axial compressor at the design condition. The low Reynolds number can originates from the change of the air density became it decreases along the altitude in the troposphere. The performance of the axial compressor such as the static pressure rise wag diminished by the separation on the suction surface and the boundary layer on the hub, which were caused by the low Reynolds number. The total pressure loss at the low Reynolds number was found to be greater than that at the reference Reynolds number at the region from the hub to 90% span. Total pressure loss was scrutinized through three major loss categories in a subsonic axial compressor such as profile loss, tip leakage loss and endwall loss using Denton's loss model, and effects of the low Reynolds number on the performance were analyzed in detail.

  • For the main variables to be selected by the designer for the heating and cooling load calculation in greenhouses, in order to evaluate the effect of these design values on the heating and cooling load, the simulations were carried out by varying the respective design values. Based on these results, we proposed the design values which should pay special attention to selection. The design values which have the greatest effect on the heating load were the overall heat transfer coefficient of the covering material and the design outdoor temperature was next. The effect of the design values according to the number of spans showed little difference. In the case of the single-span greenhouse, the effect of the design values related to the underground heat transfer can not be ignored. However, in the case of the multi-span greenhouse, the effect of the design values related to the underground heat transfer and the infiltration rate were insignificant. The design values which have the greatest effect on the cooling load were the solar radiation into the greenhouse and the evapotranspiration coefficient, followed by the indoor and outdoor temperature difference and the ventilation rate. The effect of the design values showed a great difference between the single-span greenhouse and the multi-span greenhouse, but there was almost no difference according to the number of spans. The effect of the overall heat transfer coefficient of the covering material was negligible in both the single-span greenhouse and the multi-span greenhouse. However, the effect of the indoor and outdoor temperature difference and the ventilation rate on the cooling load was not negligible. Especially, it is considered that the effect is larger in multi-span greenhouse.

  • It is common for highly loaded supersonic stage to have very high relative inlet Mach number. To get this level of inlet Mach number, rotor blade outer diameter or rotational speed should be increased. In the case of commercial turbo-fan engine, it is preferred to make the rotor blade outer diameter large than increasing the rotational speed. But, for multi-stage fan of military engines, overall diameter is often restricted and they are apt to increase the rotational speed. With high rotational speed, relative inlet Mach number is likely to be well supersonic over the entire rotor blade span and the characteristic of the stage is affected with meridional shape of the stage, especially at near hub or tip. In this paper, the aerodynamic performance of two different hub surface shape is compared and it's merit and demerits were discussed.

  • This paper considers an imperfect repair model for which the repairable system is maintained preventively at periodic times and is replaced by a new system when a predetermined number of preventive maintenance has been applied. our main objective of this is to determine the optimal number of preventive maintenances before the system is replaced and the optimal length of interval between two consecutive preventive maintenances under a new repair model which is referred to as an ineffective preventive maintenance. Such a model assumes a periodic preventive maintenance in which the system is effectively maintained with a certain probability. Otherwise the system is not improved at all after each maintenance and thus the failure rate remains the same as before. The criteria to determine the optimal number of preventive maintenances and length of period is the expected cost rate per unit time for an infinite time span. We give the explicit expressions for the expected cost rate per unit time. Some numerical examples are presented for illustrative purposes.

  • This paper mainly investigates the adequate number of cross beams at the IPSC(Incrementally PreStressed Concrete) girder bridge. The length of span was fixed to 50m and FE model was analyzed by using the ABAQUS program. The models for the numerical tests result in the cases whose number of cross beam are respectively 2, 3, 4, and 5. All of the results of proposed numerical tests satisfy the current specifications. Also, based on the results, we can determine the optimal number of cross beam for more economic design and improvement in constructability.

  • Steady two-dimensional flows due to an applied pressure distribution in water of finite depth are considered. Gravity is included in the dynamic boundary condition. Gravity is included in the dynamic boundary condition. The problem is solved numerically by using the boundary integral equation technique. It is shown that, for both supercritical and subcritical flows, solutions depend on three parameters: (i) the Froude number, (ii) the magnitude of applied pressure distribution, and (iii) the span length of pressure distribution. For supercritical flows, there exist up to two solutions corresponding to the same value of Froude number for positive pressures and a unique solution for negative pressures. For subcritical flows, there are solutions with waves behind the applied pressure distribution. As the Froude number decreases, these waves when the Froude numbers approach the critical values.

  • Direct numerical simulation database of an axial turbulent boundary layer is used to compute frequency and wave number spectra of the wall shear-stress fluctuations in a low-Reynolds number axial turbulent boundary layer. One-dimensional and two-dimensional power spectra of flow variables are calculated and compared. At low wave numbers and frequencies, the power of streamwise shear stress is larger than that of spanwise shear stress, while the powers of both stresses are almost the same at high wave numbers and frequencies. The frequency/streamwise wave number spectra of the wall flow variables show that large-scale fluctuations to the rms value is largest for the stream wise shear stress, while that of small-scale fluctuations to the rms value is largest for pressure. In the two-point auto-correlations, negative correlation occurs in streamwise separations for pressure, and in span wise correlation for both shear stresses.

  • Number of long-span bridge construction has been increased recently so that seismic consideration of design has become significant. To adapt such significance to design, seismic design in the newly revised 'Cable Steel Bridge Design Handbook' specifies some of wave travelling effect and local site effect. In this study, a cable-stayed bridge with main span of 500m is analysed having variables of uniform excitation, wave travelling effect, and wave travelling effect plus local site effect. Result shows that wave travelling effect in cable-stayed bridge affects considerably to its seismic response under weak soil condition even though the span length is relatively short. What's more, regardless of soil type, the seismic response has become higher for analysis with wave travelling effect and local site effect than with wave travelling effect only. Consequently, in seismic response analysis of long-span bridge, consideration should be given to application of wave travelling effect and local site effect.

  • The spanning column rank of an $m{\times}n$ matrix A over a semiring is the minimal number of columns that span all columns of A. We characterize linear operators that preserve the sets of matrix ordered pairs which satisfy multiplicative properties with respect to spanning column rank of matrices over semirings.
