  • This study was conducted to clarify the plant growth promoting effects of the various rhizobacteria on the growth of hydroponically grown tomatoes in rockwool, perlite and cocopeat cultures. Strains in terms of $Azospirilham\;sp.(4.5{\times}10^7cells/g),\;Rhodopseudomonas\;sp.(5.8{\times}10^5cells/g),\;Pseudomonas\;sp.(6.1{\times}10^6cells/g$), fusant of $Bacillus\;sp.\;and\;Corynebacterium\;glutamicum(9.1{\times}10^5cells/g$) was bacterialized into the root zone of tomatoes before sowing. Overall growth of tomato plants was promoted by bacterialization of the various rhizobacteria. Strains which showed the highest plan growth promoting effects of hydroponically grown tomatoes was Azospirillum sp., and optimum cultural substrates for the plant growth promotion by rhizobactera were in the order of cocopeat > perlite = rockwool cultures.

  • The purpose of this study is to rapidly produce a sauce using paprika powder in a short period. The test results of moisture content, pH, salinity, color, texture, reducing sugar, amino-nitrogen, and sensory testing are as follows. The water content of sauce (CON) using paprika powder was 26.31%, whereas 31.58% in SP1, 31.40% in SP2, 30.84% in SP3, and 24.08% in SP4. pH value increased with increasing paprika powder (P<0.001). Salinity ranged from 4.87% to 5.22%, which showed a lower value than that of a former study. In terms of color, SP3 showed the highest L value (28.01), and CON showed the highest a and b values (P<0.001). In textural properties, CON showed the highest hardness of 205.50, whereas SP3 showed the lowest hardness of 106.53. Contrary to the results for hardenss (ED:?) CON showed the lowest adhesiveness which was -704.17, SP3 showed the highest value which was -348.93. SP1, and SP2 showed the highest reducing sugar value (P<0.001), and SP1 and SP4 showed the highest and lowest values of amino-nitrogen, respectively (P<0.001). In the results of sensory tesating, SP2 showed the greatest appearance and flavor, but was not found to be significantly different to any of the others. CON, SP1 and SP2 showed the best texture(P<0.05) and SP2 showed the best interest among them with no significant difference. According to these results, SP2 made with 200g of paprika powder, 150g of soy powder, 600g of grain syrup, 500g of water, and 75g of salt showed the highest sensory interest value and was determined to be the most suitable for making the paprika sauce.

  • Purpose: The study was done to examine the effects of San- Yin-Jiao(SP6) acupressure treatment on subjective labor pain, length of delivery time in women during labor. Method: The study design was a randomized controlled clinical trial study using a double-blinded method. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, a subjective labor pain scale and measurement of delivery time. The experimental group(n=29) was received SP6 acupressure and control group(n=29), SP6 touch for the duration of each uterine contraction, during 30 minutes after 3cm dilatation of cervical os. Result: The subjective labor pain scores was significantly different between the two groups(p=0.042). The total length of delivery time in the group which had the SP6 acupressure was shorter than SP6 touch group (p=0.036). Conclusion: These findings showed that SP6 acupressure was effective related to labor pain, length of time for delivery. SP6 acupressure during labor could be applied as an effective nursing treatment.

  • Nematode destroying-fungi from ginseng field were isolated and then identified on 2% wateragar and malt extract agar media. 1. Six strains of Arthrobotrys sp. and three strains of Harposporium sp. were isolated and identified. 2. Arthrobotrys sp. formed trapping apparatus when they were cultured with Nematode and appeared to be destroying fungi. 3. Harposporium sp. appeared to be endoparasitic fungi. 4. Both Arthrobotrys sp. and Harposporium sp. were grown well on nutrient agar and malt extract agar.

  • In the cource of the studies on L-glutamic acid production from acetic acid, 383 strains capable of assimilating acetate as sole source of carbon were isolated from 279 kinds of soil sample. Out of them, 5 strains which produced relatively larger amount of L-glutamate from acetate were selected and named Brevibacterium flavum nov. sp. D1005B, Corynebacterium glutamicum nov. sp. D1025A, Brevib. flavum nov. sp. D2209B, Coryneb. acetoacidophilum nov. sp. D2212B and Coryneb. acetoacidophilum nov. sp. D2349A respectively.

Hyattella chaguiensis n. sp. is similar to H. mara Sim and Lee, 2014 in shape, but differs in dermal membrane and primary fibres. Hyattella munseomensis n. sp. differs in cored primary fibres, having middle-size sand. Hyattella sumsangiensis n. sp. is characterized by color changes and very soft texture. Hyattella bakusi n. sp. and H. purpurea n. sp. are similar in shape, having tube-like elevated holes, but differ in skeletal structures.

  • Members of the ciliate group of protozoans are often observed in mass cultures of rotifers. In particular, Euplotes and Vorticella are common contaminating species. In this study, I examined the effect of the ciliates Euplotes sp. and Vorticella sp. on the growth of the rotifer Brachionus rotundiformis by conducting inter-specific and tripartite-specific mixed-culture experiments. The growth of rotifers was suppressed in co-existence with Euplotes sp. compared with monocultures of rotifers. However, Vorticella sp. promoted rotifer growth. Moreover, Vorticella sp. improved the growth of rotifers suppressed by Euplotes sp. contaminants. In 5-L semi-mass cultures of rotifers, growth of the contaminating protozoan Euplotes sp. was heavily suppressed by Vorticella sp. The stable maintenance of the rotifer culture ecosystem can be achieved by manipulating the types of contaminating protozoan species.
