  • The growth in global population and industrialization has led to an increasing demand for electricity. Accordingly, the electricity providers need to increase the electricity generation. Due to the economical and environmental concerns associated with the generation of electricity from fossil fuels. Alternative power recourses that can potentially mitigate the economical and environmental are of interest. Renewable energy resources are promising recourses that can participate in producing power. Among renewable power resources, solar energy is an abundant resource and is currently a field of research interest. Photovoltaic solar power is a promising renewable energy resource. The power output of PV systems is mainly affected by the solar irradiation and ambient temperature. this paper investigates the utilization of machine learning unsupervised neural network techniques that potentially improves the reliability of PV solar power systems during integration into the electrical grid.

  • Among the alternative energy sources, the solar energy is recognized as an important energy source and its application is increasing. Especially in future, the hybrid solar energy generation system with battery will be widely used as an independent distributed power generation system. In this paper, a solar power hybrid home generation system using a contact-less power supply (CPS) that can transfer an electric power without any mechanical contact by using magnetic coupling instead of the power transfer by directly supplying the DC power to the home electric system is proposed. The proposed system consists of a ZVS boost converter, a half bridge LLC resonant converter and contact-less transformer.

  • Photovoltaic generation which has unlimited energy sources are very intermittent because they depend on the weather. Therefore, it is necessary to get accurate generation prediction with reducing the uncertainty of photovoltaic generation and improvement of the economics. The Meteorological Agency predicts weather factors for three days, but doesn't predict the sunshine and solar radiation that are most correlated with the prediction of photovoltaic generation. In this study, we predict sunshine and solar radiation using weather, precipitation, wind direction, wind speed, humidity, and cloudiness which is forecasted for three days at Meteorological Agency. The photovoltaic generation forecasting model is proposed by using predicted solar radiation and sunshine. As a result, the proposed model showed better results in the error rate indexes such as MAE, RMSE, and MAPE than the model that predicts photovoltaic generation without radiation and sunshine. In addition, DNN showed a lower error rate index than using SVM, which is a type of machine learning.

  • The objectives of this study are to investigate input variables of photovoltaic generation programs and to compare their prediction to actual generation of photovoltaic system in the C city hall and the C city sewage treatment plant. We investigated the actual amount of generation, the forecast amount of generation, the amount of solar radiation data, and calculated the relative errors. We simulated the photovoltaic system of C city hall and the C city sewage treatment plant located in Chungju using existing programs, such as SAM, RETSCREEN, HOMER, PV SYST, Solar Pro. The result of this study are as follows : Through examining the relative errors of monthly predicted and actual generation data, monthly generation data showed big errors in winter season?. Except winter season, actual amount of generation and the predicted amount of generation showed no large errors.

  • Industrial crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells with using a screen printing technology share the global market over 90% and they will continue to be the same for at least the next decade. It seems that the $2^{nd}$ generation and the $3^{rd}$ generation technologies have not yet demonstrated competitiveness in terms of performance and cost. In 2014, new world record efficiency 25.6% (Area-$143.7cm^2$, Voc-0.740V, $Jsc-41.8mA/cm^2$, FF-0.827) was announced from Panasonic and its cell structure is Back Contact $HIT^*$ c-Si solar cell. Here, amorphous silicon passivated contacts were newly applied to back contact solar cell. On the other hand, 24.9% $TOPCon^{**}$ cell was announced from Fraunhofer ISE and its key technology is an excellent passivation quality applying tunnel oxide (<2 nm) between metal and silicon or emitter and base. As a result, to realize high efficiency, high functional technologies are quite required to overcome a theoretical limitation of c-Si solar cell efficiency. In this presentation, Si solar cell technology summarized in the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaics ($^{***}ITRPV$ 2014) is introduced, and the present status of R&D associated with various c-Si solar cell technologies will be reviewed. In addition, national R&D projects of c-Si solar cells to be performed by Korea University are shown briefly.

  • For photovoltaic power generation need certainly decreasing module's price and increasing promote efficiency technology. Almost of solar panel is on the decrease energy efficiency since 2,000. like silicone(Si) solar panel, thin film solar panel and etc. Silicone(Si) solar panel was best efficiency in 1999. It's 24%. But after that time, It didn't pass limit of energy efficiency. That's why, nowadays being issued that using III-V compound semiconductor to high efficiency of concentrating photovoltaic system for making an alternative proposal. In Korea, making researches in allied technology with III-V compound semiconductor solar panel, condenser technology, and solar tracker. but feasibility study for concentrating photovoltaic power generation hasn't progressed yet. This thesis made a plan about CPV(Concentrating Photovoltaic)system and CPV has a higher energy efficiency than PV(Photovoltaic)system in fine climate conditions from comparing CPV with using silicone(Si) solar panel to PV's efficiency test result.

  • In photovoltaic power generation where minority carrier generation via light absorption is competing against minority carrier recombination, the substrate thickness and material quality are interdependent, and appropriate combination of the two variables is important in obtaining the maximum output power generation. Medici, a two-dimensional semiconductor device simulation tool, is used to investigate the interdependency in relation to the maximum power output in front-lit Si solar cells. Qualitatively, the results indicate that a high quality substrate must be thick and that a low quality substrate must be thin in order to achieve the maximum power generation in the respective materials. The dividing point is $70{\mu}m/5{\times}10^{-6}sec$. That is, for materials with a minority carrier recombination lifetime longer than $5{\times}10^{-6}sec$, the substrate must be thicker than $70{\mu}m$, while for materials with a lifetime shorter than $5{\times}10^{-6}sec$, the substrate must be thinner than $70{\mu}m$. In substrate fabrication, the thinner the wafer, the lower the cost of material, but the higher the cost of wafer fabrication. Thus, the optimum thickness/lifetime combinations are defined in this study along with the substrate cost considerations as part of the factors to be considered in material selection.
