  • The grassland regions of Australia, the Pacific and Asia share common latitudes albeit in opposing hemispheres. However, the environmental and socio-cultural context of pasture development in the subtropical and tropical regions of Australia, the Pacific Islands and Asia differ greatly. Successful technology transfer for improved productivity of grazing livestock is beset by three broad challenges; technical, logistical and socio-cultural. The technical challenge of defining the grassland environment and adapting known technology to local conditions can be successfully addressed by local technicians supported by a reservoir of appropriate international expertise. Logistical difficulties that impede provision of infrastructure and continuity of support services are the responsibility of indigenous organizations. Socio-cultural factors are fundamentally pervasive. These challenges, though outwardly obvious, require careful consideration by both donors and recipients of pasture technology to ensure success with pasture development for viable grazing industries.

It is clear that the development of teaching and learning in the classroom is essential for the realization of global innovations in mathematics education. Research questions for this purpose are as follow: (1) What can be learned from literatures reviews of the socio-cultural perspective on mathematics education, and of ethnomathematics as a mathematics intrinsic to cultural activities? (2) What is the direction of teaching and learning from the perspective of mathematical enculturation? (3) What is the teaching /learning model for mathematical enculturation? (4) What is the instructional exemplification based on the developed model? This study promotes the establishment of mathematics education theory from the review of literatures on the socio-cultural perspective, the development of a teaching/learning model, and the instructional exemplification based on the developed model.

  • According to tourism resources in Kyonggi province, tourist behavior was dramatically different in that tourists utilizing natural resources were mainly interested in static tourism activities and sight seeing activities while tourist using socio-cultural resources preferred with dynamic tourism activities and relaxation tourism. Therefore, the objectives of reconstruction should be adjusted depending on types of tourism resources (i.e. natural and socio-cultural resources) or natural intensity as well as the development goal of recreational tourism. In contrast, historic and cultural resources surrounded with natural resources showed higher revisit rate, and was conceived as better touring site than individual resource because of historical people, traditional custom, natural sight seeing, etc. Therefore, it is believed that proper utilization of natural resources will increase revisit rate and create new conception as a famous touring site.

  • Objective: This review consolidates the available information on the socio-economic and ecological significance of Mithun in the lives of ethnic communities in the Eastern Himalaya. Methods: Standard guidelines were followed for the review and data collection was carried out at three stages; literature search, literature screening, and literature review and analysis. Results: Records indicate a long association of Mithun with the ethnic groups. Mithun serves as a symbol of pride and local currency for barter trade in the ethnic society. Its utilities range from being used as a bride price to settling legal disputes. Several cultural festivals and local ceremonies are celebrated around this bovine. Due to its semi-wild nature, this animal also has an ecological role to conserve broad leaf sub-tropical forests. However, it remains neglected and has not received policy attention, leading to a stagnated growth. The institutions for Mithun research and development are also weak. Furthermore, the species is under threat from new diseases and habitat alteration triggered by climate change. Conclusion: Founded on the current state of knowledge, there is a need for institutional development, strengthening institutional linkages, and promoting regional cooperation among Mithun rearing countries for further research and development of this unique cattle.
