치매노인, 치매의심노인 및 일반노인의 우울에 영향을 미치는 요인 (A Study on the Factors Influencing Depression among Elderly People with, and without, Dementia)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that affect depression among elderly people with, and without, dementia. Method: The participants were 903 people who were 65 or older and resided in Sungnam City. Data were collected from April to July 2002 using a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hierarchical multiple regression aided by SPSS/PC. Result: The variables at the final step of the regression equation accounted for 28.2% of variance in the dementia group, 21.4% in the group with suspicious dementia, and 18.9% in the normal group. The multiple regression analysis revealed that ADL and instrumental support were related significantly to depression in the dementia group. Self-rated health, IADL, social activity support, and instrumental support were significantly related to depression in the group with suspicious dementia. In the normal group, education, self-rated health, and living arrangement with family were significantly related to depression. Conclusion: Social support and health condition are important to decrease depression in elderly people with dementia.

노인의 인지 기능 수준에 따른 삶의 만족도 영향 요인 비교 (A Comparison of the Factors Influencing the Life Satisfaction of the Elderly According to their Cognitive Impairment Level)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze the factors that influence the life satisfaction of the elderly according to their cognitive impairment level. Methods: This study was conducted by dividing 3,012 elderly residents of a regional community into three groups based on the scores of the Korean version of the Mini-Mental State Examination: a normal group without any cognitive impairment, a suspicious group with a mild level of cognitive impairment, and a high risk group with a high level of cognitive impairment. Researchers made phone calls, house calls, and personal visits to health centers and shelters for the elderly to gather the information required for this study. Results: The results of this study revealed that social relationships, depression, and activities of daily living had a significant impact on life satisfaction for the normal group, while social relationships and depression had a high impact on life satisfaction for the suspicious group, and social relationships had high impact on the life satisfaction of the high risk group. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, we suggest that programs that promote development of the social relationship networks of the elderly should be established to promote their life satisfaction.

전래동화를 활용한 언어표현 교육활동이 만 3세 유아의 사회성 기술에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Traditional Fairy Tales Verbal Expression Education on 3-year-old Children's Social Skills)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of traditional fairy tales verbal expression education on 3-year-old children's social skills. The subjects of this study were 50 3-year-old children at four different private daycare centers in the Kyungnam province. 25 preschoolers were selected as an experimental group, and the others were selected as a control group. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS by t- test, MANOVA and ANOVA. The findings of the study were as follows: First, differences between the experimental group and the control group in social skills were significant. There were differences between the experimental group and the control group in problem solving and self-confidence. There was no difference in emotional expression and sense of order. Second, the Cohen's effect size shows that traditional fairy tales verbal expression education effects children's problem solving and self-confidence.

정신장애인가족의 임파워먼트와 자기옹호 증진을 위한 프로그램의 효과 (The Effectiveness of Program to Promote Empowerment and Self-Advocacy of the Mentally Disabled Persons' Families)

  • Purpose: This study was to verify the effectiveness of group program for promoting empowerment and self-advocacy of the the mentally disabled persons' families. Methods: This program was set up for the mentally disabled persons' families to share their experiences, do consciousness raising, advocate themselves through group process. A pre-post control group design was used for this study. Results: The results of this study verified that group program was effective to promote empowerment and self advocacy of the mentally disabled persons' families. Also group program helped to express and ventilate family burden actively. Conclusion: This study suggests as follows. In the mental health social work practice we need to develop group programs for family to talk about themselves, to ventilate their emotions, to understand their circumstances and to initiative the change of mental health circumstances as well as education and coping skills about mental illness. For this, there is a need for mental health social worker to have a macroscopic viewpoint and work with family. Also there is a need for mental health social worker to promote family self-help groups and to support their construction and growth.

편모가족관계 강화를 위한 집단 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Group Program Development for Reinforcing Family Relations of Single-mother Families)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the group program model for reinforcing family relations of single-mother families as one approach to family welfare service. As previous research findings about problems of single parent families were reviewed and the framework for the program development was identified, a 6 sessions group program was planned and applied to 9 single-mother families from June 2nd to July 7th. Program evaluation questionnaire, Scales measuring powerlessness and FACESIII for family relations, social support network tool, and group process recording were used for the evaluation of this program. The participants evaluated this program as very supportive, useful, and educational. The powerlessness was reduced in a statistically meaningful way before and after the program and the result was found to be maintained for 4 months in the follow-up session. The family relations according to FACES III were mostly balanced and didn't show some significant change after the termination of this program. The single mothers had little concrete supports from others, if any, had some from relatives. They rather had to give supports for the other family members and reciprocally gave and took emotional or informational supports with friends or neighbors. Based on these results, the 2 step model consisted of brief group program and long term support group was developed and the practical methods were suggested for the single-mother families with low income.

청소년들의 상징적 의류제품 소비성향과 관련변수와의 관계연구 (The Symbolic Consumption in Clothing and Related Factors)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to the propensity for symbolic consumption and the effects of materialism, reference group, and social stratification on the symbolic consumption in clothing. Data were administered to 957 adolescence in middle, high school, and college student living in Seoul, Chonju, Sunchon, Yousu, and Kwangyang from May to June 1997. For analysis of the data, frequencies, percentage, means, standard deviation, factor analysis, 1-test, one-way anomia, duncan's multiple range test, and multiple regression analysis were employed. The results of this study can be summarized asfollows. 1) Symbolic consumption, materialism, and reference group were found to have the significant differences according to social stratification groups by objectivemethod. The higher social stratification is, the higher symbolic consumption, materialism, and reference group were. 2) symbolic consumption were proven to have the significant differences according to materiaiism and reference group. The higher materialism and the influence of referencegroup indicated, the higher symbolic consumption. 3)according to the results of the regression analysis examining the relative influences of variables affecting symbolic consumption in clothing, the relative importance of the variables are in order of : the influences of the reference group, materialism, social stratification, status inconsistency type (occupation-income), and their explanatory power totalled 40.0%.

전래놀이를 활용한 지역사회 노인과 아동을 위한 세대교류 프로그램의 효과 (The Effect of the Intergenerational Exchange Program for Older Adults and Young Children in the Community Using the Traditional Play)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore the effects of a community-based first and third Intergenerational Exchange Program (IGEP) on older adults' health-related quality of life (HRQoL), loneliness, depression, and walking speed, and on 4~5-year-old preschool children's learning-related social skills. Methods: This study employed a non-equivalent control group pre-post-test design. The experimental group included 42 older adults and 42 children who participated in the IGEP for 8 weeks, and the control group included 39 older adults. The experimental group participated in the IGEP once a week for 8 weeks. It comprised a traditional play program based on the intergroup contact theory. Results: Compared to the control group, there was a significant increase in scores on the HRQoL-Visual analogue scale (VAS) and a decrease in loneliness and depression in older adults in the experimental group (p<.05). Children who participated in the IGEP showed an improvement in their learning-related social skills (p<.001). Conclusion: These results confirm that the IGEP is an effective intervention to improve HRQoL-VAS, loneliness, and depression among older adults and learning-related social skills among preschool children in the community.

형제그룹 감각통합치료가 전반적 발달장애 아동의 사회적 상호작용에 미치는 효과 (Effect of the Brotherhood Group Sensory Integration Intervention to Social Interaction of the Children With Pervasive Developmental Disorders)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 형제그룹 감각통합치료가 전반적 발달장애 아동의 사회적 상호작용에 미치는 효과에 대해서 알아보고자 한다. 연구방법 : 전반적 발달장애 진단을 받은 만 7~8세 아동 2명을 대상으로 2011년 7월부터 9월까지 총 8주간 형제그룹 감각통합치료를 실시하였다. 개별실험연구방법(single subject research design) 중 A-B-A' 설계를 사용하였으며, 기초선 A 3회기, 중재기 B 16회기, 기초선 A' 3회기로 총 22회기를 적용하였다. 사회적 상호작용의 질은 기초선 A와 A'기간에 ESI(Evaluation Social Interaction)를 통하여 측정하였다. 사회적 상호작용의 빈도는 기초선 기간에는 중재가 없는 상태에서 측정하였으며, 중재기간에는 매 중재 후 10분간의 자유놀이를 비디오로 촬영하여 등간기록법(interval recording)을 통해 측정하였다. 결과 : 대상 아동 모두에게서 중재 후 사회적 상호작용의 질은 통계적으로 유의한 향상을 보였다. 또한 매 회기 중재 후 실시한 자유놀이에서 대상 아동 모두 기초선 A의 평균과 2표준편차 밴드 이상인 값들이 두 개 이상 연속으로 나타나 사회적 상호작용의 빈도에서도 통계적으로 유의한 변화가 나타났다. 결론 : 형제그룹 감각통합치료가 전반적 발달장애 아동의 사회적 상호작용에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 임상에서 전반적 발달장애 아동에게 사회적 상호작용 향상을 위한 치료방법으로써 형제그룹 감각통합치료를 효과적으로 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

사회적 지원과 돈의 중요성 및 고마움, 그리고 선물구매에서 지불의 기쁨 (Mediating Roles of Perceived Money Importance and Gratitude in the Effects of Social Support on Pleasure in Spending for Other-gift)

  • Purpose - A lot of preceeding studies have focused on the pains that might be felt in spending money, that is an important role in getting psychological safety. Money and social resources can be all for consumers, and they are likely to form a substituting relationship with one another. Being motivated by the idea that spending money for others can come with joy if one's objective is accomplished by social support, this paper aimed to explore the mediating role of the perceived money importance and gratitude in the relationship between social support and pleasure in spending for other-gift. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - In this empirical study, the experimental group is expected to receive social support while the control group is composed of those who are usually indulged in reminiscences of their sweethearts. From the college students, 160 experiment participants were selected and 80 participants of them were assigned to control group as well as to experimental group respectively at random. Empirical study for each of the two groups was performed respectively by means of questionnaire survey. Experimental group data and control group data were combined together to be used for testing hypotheses. Linear structural equation model in Amos was used to verify the hypotheses, and Bootstrap was also used to examine whether there were the mediating roles of the perceived money importance and gratitude or not. Results - From the empirical study, following conclusions could be drawn: First, social support of others makes one perceive the importance of money less; Second, social support of others makes one perceive gratitude to others; Third, less perceived importance of money and gratitude to others can make one feel pleasure in spending for other-gift; and Fourth, less perceived importance of money and gratitude to others can partially mediate the effect of social support from others on the pleasure in spending for other-gift. Conclusions - The outcomes of this study might offer theoretic and managerial implications as follow: Even though many hitherto studies have asserted that spending money usually comes with pains, this study discovered that social support might reduce perceived the importance of money but make others feel gratitude and, thus, one would feel joy in spending money to buy gift for others, and made a contribution to the progress of the theory of pleasure in spending for other-gift. This paper also made contributions toward the development of emotion marketing theory by showing that the effect of social support on the pleasure in spending for other-gift could be partially mediated by the perceived the importance of money and gratitude to others. Based on the above conclusions, it may be affirmed that marketers should help consumers perceive the importance of money less, and help feel gratitude to others by pointing up the support of others to consumers in an attempt to accelerate spending for other-gift.

청소년의 가정폭력 노출이 사회적 탄력성에 미치는 영향에 대한 환경적 보호요인의 역할 (The Impact of Environmental Protective Factors on Social Resilience of Adolescents Exposed to Family Violence)

  • 본 연구는 가정폭력의 위험에 노출된 청소년들 중 사회적 탄력성을 나타내는 청소년들은 어느 정도인가를 확인하고, 사회적 탄력성에 미치는 환경적 보호요인들의 영향력을 살펴보며, 가정폭력의 노출위험과 사회적 탄력성과의 관계에서 완화효과를 나타내는 환경적 보호요인은 무엇인지를 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 가정폭력에 노출된 고위험집단 795명을 대상으로 한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모간의 폭력을 목격한 집단과 부모로부터의 폭력을 경험한 집단에서 사회적 탄력성을 나타내는 청소년들은 각각 약 43%로 나타났다. 둘째, 가족지지와 또래집단의 친사회적 특성, 다른 성인의 지지는 사회적 탄력성을 향상시키는 보호요인으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 가족지지와 또래집단의 친사회적 특성, 다른 성인의 지지는 가정폭력의 위험이 사회적 탄력성에 미치는 부정적인 영향력을 완화시키는 것으로 나타났다.
