In this study, we have made a cement based inorganic insulation material and added CSA (Hauyne Clinker) to reduce the demolding time and enhance the handling workability. CSA contents were varied by 0%, 1%, 3%, 5% and the atmospheric steam curing was tried for enhancing the compressive strength. As the CSA contents are increased to 5%, a rapid reaction of hydration caused the sinking of the slurry. So, the setting-retarder was added to control the reaction of hydration. By this, the sinking of the slurry was controlled but the height of the green body after expansions was a little bit lowered. In the CSA-added slurry, it was possible to demold within 24 hours and in case of CSA 5%-added, the sufficient workability was secured. Atmospheric steam curing (temperatures $-40{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, for 6~10 hrs.) was attempted to improve the compressive strength and found that an excellent strength of 0.25 MPa was achieved at $80^{\circ}C$ for 8 hrs. Specific gravity was about $0.12{\sim}0.13g/cm^3$ and heat conductivity was about 0.045 W/mK in all specimens. This strategy significantly improves the compressive strength of CSA 5%-added specimen up to 25% compared to without CSA added specimen.

Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the use of graphene as electrode materials for supercapacitors. In this regard, graphene oxide (GO) films were prepared using GO slurry obtained by dispersing GO powder in deionized (DI) water. The degree of dispersion of GO powder in DI water depends on the concentration of GO slurry, pH, impurity content, GO particle size, types of functional groups contained in GO, and manufacturing method of GO powder. In this study, the dispersivity of the GO powder was improved by adjusting the pH using only DI water (without additives), and a uniform GO film was obtained. The GO film was reduced by exposure to xenon intense pulsed light for a few milliseconds, and the reduced GO film was used as electrodes of a supercapacitor. The supercapacitor was characterized using cyclic voltammetry (CV), charge-discharge cycle, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements, and the specific capacitance of the supercapacitor was found to be ~140 F/g from the CV data.

Freeze drying of a porous Cu-Sn alloy with unidirectionally aligned pore channels was accomplished by using a composite powder of CuO-$SnO_2$ and camphene. Camphene slurries with CuO-$SnO_2$ content of 3, 5 and 10 vol% were prepared by mixing with a small amount of dispersant at $50^{\circ}C$. Freezing of a slurry was done at $-25^{\circ}C$ while the growth direction of the camphene was unidirectionally controlled. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green bodies were hydrogen-reduced at $650^{\circ}C$ and then were sintered at $650^{\circ}C$ and $750^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. XRD analysis revealed that the CuO-$SnO_2$ powder was completely converted to Cu-Sn alloy without any reaction phases. The sintered samples showed large pores with an average size of above $100{\mu}m$ which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. Also, the internal walls of the large pores had relatively small pores. The size of the large pores decreased with increasing CuO-$SnO_2$ content due to the change of the degree of powder rearrangement in the slurry. The size of the small pores decreased with increase of the sintering temperature from $650^{\circ}C$ to $750^{\circ}C$, while that of the large pores was unchanged. These results suggest that a porous alloy body with aligned large pores can be fabricated by a freeze-drying and hydrogen reduction process using oxide powders.
The synthesis of porous W by freeze-casting and vacuum drying is investigated. Ball-milled WO3 powders and tert-butyl alcohol were used as the starting materials. The tert-butyl alcohol slurry is frozen at -25℃ and dried under vacuum at -25 and -10℃. The dried bodies are hydrogen-reduced at 800℃ and sintered at 1000℃. The XRD analysis shows that WO3 is completely reduced to W without any reaction phases. SEM observations reveal that the struts and pores aligned in the tert-butyl alcohol growth direction, and the change in the powder content and drying temperature affects the pore structure. Furthermore, the struts of the porous body fabricated under vacuum are thinner than those fabricated under atmospheric pressure. This behavior is explained by the growth mechanism of tert-butyl alcohol and rearrangement of the powders during solidification. These results suggest that the pore structure of a porous body can be controlled by the powder content, drying temperature, and pressure.

The purpose of this study is to develop the hybrid sound-absorbing materials that is made from organic polyurethane sponge impregnated with inorganic binder solutions. The inorganic slurry which is made from ${\alpha}$-hemihydrate gypsum mixed with 60% water, and various additives including plasticizer are used as binder. The test specimens are prepared and tested for sound absorption performance by the impedance tube methods. From the test results, noise reduction coefficient(NRC) of development materials specimen bound by the inorganic binder slurry is 0.41. They are 2 times or more higher than commercial products specimens bound by organic materials only which have NRC values in the range of 0.14 to 0.28. The polyurethane sponge specimens impregnated with inorganic gypsum slurry binder have a good balance between performance and cost, and have proper properties in density, thermal conductivity, non-combustible, and absence of harmful substances as sound-absorbing internal boards for noise barrier wall. It is apparent that the good sound absorption materials can be produced according to the optimum mix design that is recommended from this study.
To develop the composting system to reduce the use of bulking agent, continuous composting was performed with farmer scale facility, The plant comprises a horizontal pit reactor closed inside a greenhouse and equipped with a turning machine moving on rails. The pit was 9m wide and 50m long and the maximum height of loaded materials was $1.8m^2$. The materials remained in the reactor for 5 months. During the composting process, temperature and water content measured and water balance was evaluated. The reaction temperature of composting was changed $30{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ and high in the middle and low in under composting piles. The moisture contents of the compost were approximately 70% during the experiment. The amount of effluent was 10.6% and $3.16m^3$ of pig slurry per $1m^3$ of bulking agent was treated during continuous composting process. BOD and SS reduction of the effluent in continuous composting was 86.5% and 92.2%, respectively. Indoor relative humidity in night time was changed between 80 and 100%.

The changes of contaminants and odor corresponding to anaerobic maturation process of piggery slurry were investigated by applying the additives, such as different kinds of complex microorganism products and deodorants containing microorganism activating agents. The pHs during 20-day anaerobic maturation were operated stably without great change regardless of the additives, although they were rather lower in the case that the additives were contained than the case that they were not contained. The effects of removing CODcr, $NH_3-N$, T-N, and T-S in case that the additives were not contained, were not so great during the 20-day operation and so it would be difficult to remove the organic materials and nitrogen ingredients simply with anaerobic maturation process. However, in case of anaerobic maturation process that the additives were contained, their average removal rates were improved with the values of $49\%,\;63.5\%,\;48.5\%,\;and\;30.7\%$ for above each of items, even if the 20-day of short-term maturation period was applied. Especial1y, odor intensity with the additives was lowered continuously during the operation period and it had more than two times of lowering effect compared to that without those.
This research investigates experimentally an effect on the properties of the high flowing concrete to be poured in the under-ground slurry wall of Inchon LNG receiving terminal(#213,214-TK) according to variations of concrete materials. Variables for sensitivity test were selected items as followings. 1) Concrete temperature (3cases), 2) Unit water (5cases), 3) Fineness modulus of fine aggregate (5cases), 4) Particle size of lime stone powder (3cases), 5) Replacement ratio of blast-furnace slag (4cases) and 6) Addition ratio of high range water reducing agent (5cases). And fresh conditions of the super flowing concrete should be satisfied with required range including slump flow(65$\pm$5cm), 50cm reaching time of flow(4~10sec), V-lot flowing time(10~ 20sec), U-box height(min. 300mm) and air content(4$\pm$1%). As results for sensitivity test, considered flow-ability, self-compaction and segregation resistance of the high flowing concrete, material variations and conditions of fresh concrete should be satisfied with the range as follwings. 1) Concrete temperature are 10~2$0^{\circ}C$(below 3$0^{\circ}C$), 2) Surface moisture of fine aggregate is within $\pm$ 0.6%, 3) Fineness modulus of fine aggregate is 2.6$\pm$0.2, 4)Replacement ratio of blast-furnace slag is 45~50% and 5) Addition ratio of high range water reducing agent is within 1%. Based on the specification for quality control, we successfully finished concrete pouring on the under-ground slurry wall having 75,000㎥(#213,214-TK) and accumulated real date in site.

At the early stage of a bulk syndiotactic polymerization of styrene, the homogeneous reactant mixture transforms to a slurry state consisting of a precipitated solid syndiotactic PS and a liquid reactant mixture. As the reaction proceeds, the slurry transforms into a wet and then a dried powder if proper methods are used to prevent agglomeration. When a large amount of catalyst and co-catalyst is added to the styrene to achieve a high conversion rate, the reactant mixture becomes a lumpy agglomeration and further control of the reaction is impossible. In this study, we introduce a novel approach to avoid such agglomeration while maintaining a high conversion rate. Instead of adding the catalyst and co-catalyst at once, the total amount of the catalyst and co-catalyst is divided into several parts and added successively. This method is found to be very effective to avoid the formation of agglomerate and to maintain a fairly high conversion rate of slurry into powdery product (up to 70 %). It is also observed that this method produces syndiotactic PS of a higher molecular weigh.

In recent years, while the importance of thermal management has been emphasized due to smaller electronic products, various materials have been used as heat sink. In this study, porous ceramic heat sink was developed with SiC, successfully separated from the slurry of SiC occurring in solar energy materials industry and the thermal performance of porous SiC heat sink has been compared with those of aluminum heat sink and pure SiC heat sink through experiment. From the experimental results, it was verified that porous recycled SiC heat sink has better thermal performance than aluminum heat sink since its micropores increase the heat transfer area. In addition, the effect of the micropores on thermal performance has been quantified by increasing convective heat transfer coefficient with numerical analysis.
