  • The repair of concrete surfaces does not normally take into account structural tolerance for longer service lift and better capabilities of concrete structures. In particular, the repair of surface spelling completes as mortar is applied, which does not display additional structural performances. The use of crimped wire mesh for better construction and fracture resistance, however, expects to have some reinforcement effects. Particularly, it is also expected that the repair of bottom part in structures built between bridges like irrigation structures results in the increase of flexural resistance. Therefore, this study is intended to perform the repair using crimp wire mesh and examine strength depending on the repair section and depth. For this, a slab with 150 mm in depth, 3,000 mm in length and 600 mm in width and total 8 objects to experiment such as upper part, upper whole, bottom part, bottom whole and crimp wire mesh reinforced are manufactured to perform flexural performance. The results of the analysis show that yield strength and failure load increase as the depth of repair materials in the experiment reinforced with crimp wire mesh get bigger. In the same condition, repair of bottom part is able to increase internal force of bending force. Besides, the results show that partial repair of structures under bending force cannot produce flexural performance. Consequently, the repair method with crimp wire mesh results in the increase of flexural resistance.

  • Steel-concrete single-leaf blast-resistant doors are protective structures consisting of a steel box and reinforced concrete slab. By the domestic blast-resistant doors, the structure is not designed efficiently because few studies have examined the effects of variables, such as the blast pressure, rebar ratio, and steel plate thickness on the structural behavior. In this study, the structural behavior of the doors was analyzed using the FE method, and the support rotation and ductility ratio used to classify the structural performance were reviewed. The results showed that the deflection changes more significantly when the plate thickness increases than when the rebar spacing is a variable. This is because the strain energy absorbed by the door is reduced considerably when the plate thickness increases, and as a result, the maximum deflection becomes smaller. According to a comparison of the calculated values of the support rotation and the ductility ratio, the structural performance of the doors could be classified based on the support rotation of one degree and ductility ratio of three. On the other hand, more explosion tests and analytical studies will be needed to classify the damage level.

  • Electric arc furnace slag is made in ironworks during steel refining, it is been increasing chemical and physical resistibility using ageing method of unstable state of melting steel slag for using concrete's fine aggregates. Which is been changing stable molecular structure of aggregates, it restrains moving of ion and molecule. In Korea, KS F 4571 has been prepared for using the electric arc furnace slag to concrete aggregates. In this study, Electric arc furnace slag is used in the PMC(Polymer Modified Concrete) which is applied a bridge pavement of rehabilitation, largely. In that case, this study evaluates the structural safety about increasing the specific weight. The 4-type bridges(RC slab bridge, RC rigid-frame bridge, PSC Beam bridge, Steel box girder bridge) pavement's increasing the total dead load is in 1 ~ 2%. Design moments in a load combination are increased less then 2%. safety factor is decreased less than 3%. Therefore, the structural safety has no problem for applying the electric arc furnace slag within PMC in bridge.

  • In the meantime, looking at the present status of how to estimationte the quantity of rebar based on 3D BIM getting the limelight in these days, commercial BIM tools provide rebar modeling functions however it takes a vast amount of modeling time for modeling of rebar in use of that function hence there is no BIM software at present for practical use. Therefore, in this study, we organized and presented a practical rebar quantity estimationtion process in BIM-based design work-site and intended to develop a program named Rebar Automatic Arrangement Program - hereinafter called RAAP - which enables automatic rebar arrangement based on much more precise cross-sectional information of bars in column, beam, slab and wall than the one from existing 2D method under the conditions without any cross-sectional information in the initial design phase. In addition, we intended to establish rebar quantity estimationtion process in the initial design phase through interworking of modeling & quantity estimationtion functions in consideration of joint, anchoring length of BuilderHUB as a BIM software with RAAP. The results from this study are practical in developing a technology that is able to estimationte quantity with more improved reliability than the one from existing 2D-based methods with less effort when the quantity of framework is estimationted in the uncompleted state of cross-sectional design for structural members in the initial design phase of a construction project. And it is expected that it could be utilized as a basic study from which a reasonable quantity estimationtion program can be established in the initial design phase.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an efficient process in the design and construction of a 1:5 scale 10-story R.C. apartment building model for an earthquake simulation test. The reduction ratio of the specimen was determined by the size ($5m{\times}5m$) and pay load (600kN) of the available shaking table and the availability of model reinforcements. For efficiency and quality control of the reinforcement work, prefabrication was used. Construction was conducted in two steps, the wall in one step, and another step for the slab, because it was impossible to remove the formwork of a wall if the walls and slabs in a story were constructed in one step. The slip form construction method was used repetitively for walls. The formwork of a wall was made with veneer and acryl plate on each side, so it was possible to check the quality of the concrete placing. To construct this model, it took roughly six months with five full-time research assistants, for a total of 602 man days of labor in construction.

  • The flexural strength of composite HSB I-girders under a positive moment was investigated using the moment-curvature analysis method to evaluate the applicability of the current AASHTO LRFD design specifications to such girders. A total of 2,391 composite I-girder sections that satisfied the section proportion limits of the AASHTO LRFD specifications was generated by the random sampling technique to consider a wide range of section properties. The flexural capacities of the sections were calculated inthe nonlinear moment-curvature analysis in which the HSB600 and HSB800 steels were modeled as an elasto-plastic strain-hardening material, and the concrete, as a CEB-FIP model. The effects of the ductility ratio and the compressive strength of the concrete slab on the flexural strength of the composite girders made of HSB and SM520-TMC steels were analyzed. The numerical results indicated that the current AASHTO LRFD equation can be used to calculate the flexural strength of composite girders made of HSB600 steel. In contrast, the current AASHTO LRFD equation was found to be non-conservative in its prediction of the flexural strength of composite HSB800 girders. Based on the numerical results of this study for 2,391 girders, a new design equation for the flexural strength of composite HSB800 girders in a positive moment was proposed.

  • The present Study dealt with the earthquake-resistant design of cantilever retaining walls supporting cohesionless soils. With design examples of three different types of cantilever retaining walls, the factors of safety against sliding were computed at various values of horizontal acceleration coefficient and compared with each other. The horizontal inertia effect due to the weights of concrete wall itself and a portion of backfill was taken into account in the analyses, and also Mononobe-Okabe pseudo-static solution method was modified to deal with various states different from limiting equilibrium state. From the analyses of safety against sliding, it was found that a cantilever retaining wall with sloped base was the most efficient type in earthquake resistant design. It was also found that by sloping the base, the width of the base slab could be reduced, resulting in the least volume of concrete, excavation and backfill as compared to the other types of walls. In the case of a cantilever retaining wall with sloped feel, the efficiency similar to that of a wall with sloped base could be expected under static loading as well as at relatively low level of earthquake loading. However, this efficiency became vanished with the increase of horizontal acceleration coefficient, since the rate of reduction in developed earth pressures on the heel became smaller. In addition, the design charts with different soil friction angles as well as with different earthquake resistant design criteria of safety factor against sliding were presented for the design of cantilever retaining walls sith sloped base.

  • This study is about a horizontal load test of buoyance anchor installed in the section where underground water level happens in the depth of 5m under the ground when the ground is excavated, because the section as a excavation section of high speed railway ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ station is near a rivers and because the section always has a reservoir of full water level on the left. Therefore, in this study we will appraise the long-term stability of the structure permanently being taken buoyance by the underground water level, through the spot test of the buoyance anchor installed in the section where underground water level happens. For that, Bar Type anchor is used, which can get enough pulling-out force by a method to resist buoyance by using friction force against the ground by high strength steel rod or steel wire. Anti-buoyance anchor is installed on the bottom slab of underground structure being taken horizontal force by the braking and accelerating of high speed train. And, It is aimed to analyze and grasp the review result of stability for the horizontal force that happens at the parking and stopping of high speed train, by executing horizontal load test for the grasping of the movements characteristic of buoyance anchor.

  • The load distribution factor (LDF) values of simplified composite H beam panel bridges (SCHPBs) that were subjected to one lane and two lane loads were investigated using three dimensional finite element analyses with the computer program ABAQUS (2007). This study considered some design parameters such as the slab thickness, the steel plate thickness, the span length, and the continuity of the SCHPBs in the development of new LDFs. The distribution values that were obtained from these analyses were compared with those from the AASHTO Standard, LRFD, and the equations presented by Tarhini and Frederick, Huo et al., Back and Shin, and Cai. The AASHTO Standard distribution factors for SCHPBs were found to be very conservative. Sometimes, the distribution values from the finite element analyses for interior girders were similar to the results of the AASHTO LRFD, whereas the values for exterior girders were conservative in most cases. The new distribution values that were presented in this study produced LDFs that are more conservative than those from the finite element method. For the simple application of the design to SCHPBs, bridge engineers can use 0.42 for the interior girder and 0.32 for the exterior girder. The proposed values improve the current design procedure for the LDF problem and increase SCHPB design efficiency.

  • It is important to understand thermal characteristic as a method to estimate the new materials, because spontaneous ignition characterized by causing combustion in the low temperature without ignition source. If can not find out the thermal characteristics of materials, it is frequent that causes of fires could not be found. The danger level of spontaneous ignition material should be estimated and by closely studying its thermal characteristic. However, RPF(Refuse Paper & Plastic Fuel) is a solid matter and getting increasesa year by year because it is an economy profit as alternative energy for limited fossil fuels. Some time RPF occur a fire in the cases of its production process and conservation. Therefore study for thermal stability and critical ignition temperature of RPF was so imperative that the experiment by means of Bombe Calorimeter, TG-DTA, MS80, SIT-II, and Wire Basket Test was implemented. As a result, RPF had a caloric value 26.4-28.3 MJ/kg, and its initial pyrolysis temperature was $192^{\circ}C$ at heating rate 2 K/min. With the result of analysis by MS 80 which is an instrument measuring microscopic calory, pure RPF not containing water has higher caloric value than RPF containing 20% water. Also, SIT-II which is an instrument of insulated auto-ignition was ignited by $118.5^{\circ}C$. This temperature is lower than that of Wire Basket Test. The critical ignition temperature was calculated by Frank-Kamenetskii equation can cause ignition at $80^{\circ}C$ when conserved in the height of 10 m by the standard of infinity slab.
