Many literatures, so far, have concentrated on approaches employing dependent coordinates set resulting in computational burden of constraint forces, which is needless in many cases. Some researchers developed methods to remove or calculate it efficiently. But systematic generation of the motion equation using independent coordinates set by Kane's equation is possible for any closed loop system. Independent velocity transformation method builds the smallest size of motion equation, but needs practically more complicated code implementation. In this study, dependent velocity matrix is systematically transformed into independent one using dependent-independent transformation matrix of each body group, and then motion equation free of constraint force is constructed. This method is compared with the other approach by counting the number of multiplications for car model with 15 d.o.f..

This paper deals with the design of delay-dependent $H_{\infty}$ control for time-delayed linear systems. We propose the two different model transformations to handle efficiently the time delay and derive conditions linear matrix inequalities (LMI's) of which are dependent on the size of time-delay and its time-derivative. The $H_{\infty}$ controller is obtained by checking the feasibility of these LMI's. Finally, we show the usefulness and applicability of our results by an example.
This paper considers a non-identical parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence and machine dependent setup times. The objective of this problem is to determine the allocation of jobs and the scheduling of each machine to minimize makespan. A mathematical model for optimal solution is derived. An in-depth analysis of the model shows that it is very complicated and difficult to obtain optimal solutions as the problem size becomes large. Therefore, two meta-heuristics, genetic algorithm (GA) and a new population-based evolutionary meta-heuristic called self-evolution algorithm (SEA), are proposed. The performances of the meta-heuristic algorithms are evaluated through compare with optimal solutions using randomly generated several examples.
Properties of sliding materials are dependent on the lithology because debris is the product of rock weathering processes. In order to characterize transportation behavior of debris dependent of debris types, this study selected 26 debris flows over three areas composed with different rock weathering types and topographic conditions. Analyses of lithology, weathering, and topographic characteristics were performed by detailed field survey. Based on the field survey data, transportation behavior of debris was studied at the aspect of the relationship of grain size and volume of debris as well as topographic conditions. According to the study results, change of slope angle is very influential factor on runout distance of debris among the topographic factors. Because the sliding velocity and the energy of debris are frequently changed and more irregular on an undulating slope, the unout distance of debris is larger than that of an uniformly dipping slope. Runout distance of debris is also influenced by volume and grain size of debris. Volume of debris in the gabbro is four or five times larger than that of the granite area because it is controlled by the lithology. Considered with grain size distribution, runout distance of debris is longer in the gabbro area which is composed with irregular grain size bearing large corestones than that in the medium grained granite area.
Two measures of distributive mixing are examined: the standard deviation $\sigma$ and the maximum error E, among average concentrations of finite-sized samples. Curves of E versus sample size L are easily interpreted in terms of the size and intensity of the worst flaw in the mixture. E(L) is sensitive to the size of this flaw, regardless of the overall size of the mixture. The measures are used to study distributive mixing for time-periodic flows in a rectangular cavity, using the mapping method. Globally chaotic flows display a well-defined asymptotic behavior: E and $\sigma$ decrease exponentially with time, and the curves of E(L) and $\sigma$ (L) achieve a self-similar shape. This behavior is independent of the initial configuration of the fluids. Flows with large islands do not show self-similarity, and the final mixing result is strongly dependent on the initial fluid configuration.
This paper describes an experimental investigation of how time-dependent deformations of high strength concretes are affected by maximum size of coarse aggregate, curing time, and relatively low sustained stress level. A set of high strength concrete mixes, mainly containing two different maximum sizes of coarse aggregate, have been used to investigate drying shrinkage and creep strain of high strength concrete for 7 and 28-day moist cured cylinder specimens. Based upon one-year experimental results, drying shrinkage of high strength concrete was significantly affected by the maximum size of coarse aggregate at early age, and become gradually decreased at late age. The larger the maximum size of coarse aggregate in high strength concrete shows the lower the creep strain. The prediction equations for drying shrinkage and creep coefficient were developed on the basis of the experimental results, and compared with existing prediction models.
Effects of grain size distribution on the breakdown voltage of ZnO varistors were investigated in the ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3 and ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3-Cr2O3 systems, respectively. The grain size was increased with increasing sintering temperature maintaining lognormal distribution in both systems. The width of grain size distribution of ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3 system was narrower than that of ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3 system. The breakdown voltage(Vb) was decreased by increasing sintering temperature(1000~135$0^{\circ}C$) and sintering time(0.5~5hr), due to the enhancement of ZnO grain growth. The current path of the ZnO varistor was dependent on the distribution of the largest grains (chains of long grains) between the electrodes.

The FSA algorithm for identifying multiple tags in RFID systems is based on the slotted ALOHA scheme with a fixed frame size. The performance of FSA algorithm is dependent on the frame size and the number of tags in the reader's identification range. Therefore, this paper proposes a new ODFSA. The proposed ODFSA algorithm dynamically allocates the optimal frame size at every frame based on the number of tags in the reader's identification range. According to the simulation results, the system efficiency of the proposed algorithm should be maintained optimally. Also, the proposed algorithm always obtained the minimum tag identification delay.

We have designed a high transmission C-shaped aperture using finite differential time domain (FDTD) technique. The C-shaped aperture was fabricated in the aluminum thin film on a glass substrate using a focused ion beam (FIB) milling. Nano-size patterning was demonstrated with a vacuum contact device to keep tight contact between the Al mask and the photoresist. Using 405 nm laser, we recorded a 50 nm-size dot pattern on the photoresist with the aperture and analyzed the spot size dependent on the dose illuminated on the aperture.
Particle size distribution in a Continuous Mixed Suspension Mixed Crystal Removal (CMSMPR) crystallizer has been analyzed using the Population Balance (PB) model. This method presents difficulties when the growth rate of crystal depends on the crystal size. Recent studies indicate that in many cases the growth rate is dependent on size when the crystal sizes are small. In this study, a Residence Time Distribution(RTD) model was proposed to take the size dependence into account together with an appropriate numerical scheme. When compared with the approximate results based on PB model, RTD model results showed improvements also a nucleation effect which is normally unimportant for steady state analysis. Start-up data for NaCl-Water-Ethanol system was compared with computed values.
