  • This work is concerned with comparison of the recently developed disparity measures for the partial association model in three dimensional categorical data. Data are generated by using simulation on each term in the log-linear model equation based on the partial association model, which is a proposed method in this paper. This alternative Monte Carlo methods are explored to study the behavior of disparity measures such as the power divergence statistic I(λ), the Pearson chi-square statistic X$^2$, the likelihood ratio statistic G$^2$, the blended weight chi-square statistic BWCS(λ), the blended weight Hellinger distance statistic BWHD(λ), and the negative exponential disparity statistic NED(λ) for moderate sample sizes. We find that the power divergence statistic I(2/3) and the blended weight Hellinger distance family BWHD(1/9) are the best tests with respect to size and power.

  • This paper is to describe the development of nesting software for the materials cutting plan of footwear manufacturing processes. In shoes cutting process, almost of the materials cutting plan is dependent upon worker's experience. Thus, thepattern nesting by worker's experience for materials cutting is different form the real cutting results and also different form the error size of yield in degree of worker's skill. Recently, a few of domestic shoes' makers make use of oversee's nesting software. But the nesting software unfits for the domestic actual circumstances , and is complex to use , and is expensive , and is not to be interfaced with the auto cutting machine. Therefore , we have developed the economic nesting systems that are easier for novice to use and fit for the domestic circumstances, which can synchronize with the development of the auto cutting machine. The system comprises interrelated modules for materials information, nesting simulation, utility. • Whatever the country, nanotechnology features as a key priority of most national research and innovation policies. This focus on nanotechnology is due to the promises of this general purpose technology, this new technological wave. As 'one size does not fit all', policies supporting its development cannot just adopt the 'best practices' of the preceding wave. We argue that specific on-going dynamics of nanoscience and technology production justifies the existence of dedicated nanotechnology policies. It also questions the portfolio of instruments mobilized and their balance. In this article, we discuss policies developed for the preceding technological waves and, based on the characteristics of nanosciences and technologies, propose five dimensions of policies to be taken into consideration for their governance at the country and cluster levels.

  • This work describes a method of determining material parameters included in recrystallization and grain growth models. Focus is on the recrystallization and grain growth models of Ni-Fe base superalloy, Alloy 718. High temperature compression tests at different strain, strain rate and temperature conditions were chosen to determine the material parameters of dynamic recrystallization model. The critical strain and dynamically recrystallized grain size and fraction at various process variables were quantitated with the microstructual analysis and strain-stress relationships of the compression tests. Besides, isothermal heat treatments were utilized to fit the material constants included in the grain growth model. Verification of the determined material parameters is carried out by comparing the measured data obtained from other compression tests.

  • Proteins in highly oriented lipid bilayer samples are useful to study membrane protein structure determination. Planar lipid bilayers aligned and supported on glass slide were prepared. These stack of glass slide with planar lipid bilayers are not well fit for commercial solid-state NMR probe with round coil. Therefore, homebuilt solid-state NMR probe was built and used for a stack of thin glass plates and RF coil is wrapping directly around the flat square sample. The overall filling factor of the coil is much better and the large surface area enhances the extent to orientation by providing uniform environments for the phospholipids and the high ratio of circumference to area reduces edge effects. $^1H\;and\;^{15}N$ double resonance probe for 400 MHz NMR (9.4T) with a flat coil (coil size: 11 mm ${\times}$ 20 mm ${\times}$ 4 mm) is constructed and tested.

  • This paper presents a methodology to enable the tolerances on mating parts of an assembly to be specified and be compatible to the precision of an assembly robot so as to achieve maximum system performance. The measure of performance is defined as the Probability of Successful Assembly (PSA). A typical loose fastener assembly, usually called peg-in-a-hole is investigated. The Geometric Tolerancing System is adopted to represent position tolerances of mating parts. Two models are presented by considering modifiers on a position tolerance, Regardless of Feature Size (RFS) and Maximum Material Condition (MMC). Using these models, it is analyzed how the Standard Limits and Fits recommended by ANSI influence the performance of an assembly robot. For this analysis, the Standard Limits and Fits are transformed to the representation scheme of the Geometric Tolerancing System. Due to low PSAs when the Standard Limits and Fits are taken into account, the effect of chamfers around a hole is also analyzed.

  • The aim of regularization of a structural configuration is to obtain a structure that consists of elements with identical or nearly identical length. And it is also possible to modify the configuration in a manner that the size of the elements vary in accordance with a specified pattern. For practical purpose, geodesic dome is cut off at a suitable place in order to make it fit on horizontal. Inevitably this pattern effects a change of element lengths. The purpose of this study is to verify a method for regularization of structural configuration by genetic algorithms and modify the element lengths of the dome. As a result of regularization of domes with various rise-span ratio, modified configurations have more regular element lengths and are more economical than initial configurations.

  • Poorly permeable $Eudragit^{\circledR}$ RS 100 polymer was used as a wall material for the microencapsulation of zipeprol dihydrochloride by a phase separation method from chloroform-cyclohexane system with 5% polyisobutylene in cyclohexane, and microcapsules obtained were evaluated in vitro by particle size analysis, scanning electron microscopy, drug release test and in vivo bioavailability test in rats. The mechanism of drug release from microcapsules appeared to fit Higuchi matrix model kinetics. The area under the first moment of plasma concentration-time curve of the microcapsules obtained was considerably increased (p<0.05) as compared with that from zipeprol dihydrochloride oral solution. Therefore, it may be suggested that $Eudragit^{\cirledR}$ RS 100 coated zipeprol dihydrochloride microcapsules can be used as a sustained release medication.

  • In this paper, a test of fit for Weibull distribution on the estimated Kullback-Leibler information is proposed. The test uses the Vasicek entropy estimates, so to compute it a window size m must first be fried, and then is obtained critical values computed by Monte Carlo simulations. The power of the proposed test under various alternatives is compares with that of ocher famous tests. The use of the test is shown in an illustrative example.
