Computational Investigation of Similarity Law and Wind Tunnel Testing for Side Jet Influence on Supersonic Missile Aerodynamics (초음속 유도탄의 측추력기 작동시 풍동실험을 위한 CFD 해석 연구)

  • Computational study has been undertaken to investigate the aerodynamic influence of side jet on a supersonic missile and to find a similarity condition between the flight condition and the wind tunnel testing. Tasks were performed to validate the existing Raytheon test body with side jet, to simulate the flow inside the supersonic wind tunnel, and to compare the flow fields between the missile in free flight and that in the wind tunnel. Then sub-scale model of body-tail configuration was analyzed to estimate the influence of the side jet on the missile components. It Is found that the influence of side Jet is not as significant on the tail region as on the body surface and a simple algebraic formula for aerodynamic coefficients accounting for the side jet as a point force may be cautiously utilized in setting up control logic.

  • An experimental method to investigate the dynamic characteristics of buoys in extreme environmental condition is established. Because the buoy model requires a resonable size for accurate experiment, the test condition in model basin that satisfies the similarity law is hardly compatible with capability of test facilities. It is suggested that the linear wave component that is unable to satisfy similarity is separated with others‥‥‥

  • One of noticeable features in the cross flow fan is that a working fluid passes through impeller blade twice without distinction between the inlet and exit angles. Also, it does produce higher circumferential velocity than other types of blade at the same flow rate in accordance with the application of the forward curved shape. However, a design theory for the cross-flow fan has not yet been formed owing to an eccentric vortex, which is the remarkable characteristics, occurred in a cross-flow fan. Furthermore, the eccentric vortex, which is difficult to control of the size and position, is the important cause of performance decrease. In this study, experiments are carried out to estimate the similarity of the cross-flow fan with various scales and rotational velocity changes. Pressure coefficients to flow coefficients with various scales of the cross-flow fan are plotted to research the application of the general similarity law of the turbomachinery in the cross-flow fan with Archimedes spital, which is the important factor haying an effect on it.

Elaborate Image Quality Assessment with a Novel Luminance Adaptation Effect Model (새로운 광적응 효과 모델을 이용한 정교한 영상 화질 측정)

  • Recently, objective image quality assessment (IQA) methods that elaborately reflect the visual quality perception characteristics of human visual system (HVS) have actively been studied. Among those characteristics of HVS, luminance adaptation (LA) effect, indicating that HVS has different sensitivities depending on background luminance values to distortions, has widely been reflected into many existing IQA methods via Weber's law model. In this paper, we firstly reveal that the LA effect based on Weber's law model has inaccurately been reflected into the conventional IQA methods. To solve this problem, we firstly derive a new LA effect-based Local weight Function (LALF) that can elaborately reflect LA effect into IQA methods. We validate the effectiveness of our proposed LALF by applying LALF into SSIM (Structural SIMilarity) and PSNR methods. Experimental results show that the SSIM based on LALF yields remarkable performance improvement of 5% points compared to the original SSIM in terms of Spear rank order correlation coefficient between estimated visual quality values and measured subjective visual quality scores. Moreover, the PSNR (Peak to Signal Noise Ratio) based on LALF yields performance improvement of 2.5% points compared to the original PSNR.

  • In an early paper Skumanich suggested the existence of a scaling law relating the mean sunspot magnetic field with the square-root of the photospheric pressure. This was derived from an analysis of a variety of theoretical spot models including those by Yun (1968). These were based on the Schliiter-Temesvary (S- T) similarity assumption. To answer criticisms that such modeling may have unphysical (non-axial maxima) solutions, the S-T model was revisited, Moon et al. (1998), with an improved vector potential function. We consider here the consequences of this work for the scaling relation. We show that by dimensionalizing the lateral force balance equation for the S- T model one finds that a single parameter enters as a characteristic value of the solution. This parameter yields Skumanich's scaling directly. Using an observed universal flux-radius relation for dark solar magnetic features (spots and pores) for comparison, we find good to fair agreement with Yun's characteristic value, however the Moon et al. values deviate significantly.

  • In this study, we study on the length of bisector of angle by the method using the area, the method using the vector and the method using the similarity, also the length of trisector of angle by the method using the sine law, the method using the area and the method using the second law of cosine in triangle, respectively. And we study on the length of trisector of angle with the length of bisector in angle. This study is expected to use the learning materials for the interesting construction and the problem solving using trigonometric functions.

  • In this paper, a new scheme of iterative loaming control of a robot manipulator is presented. The proposed method uses a fuzzy sliding mode controller(FSMC), which is designed based on the similarity between the fuzzy logic control(FLC) and the sliding mode control(SMC), for the feedback. With this, the proposed method makes possible fDr fast iteration and has advantages that no linear approximation is used for the derivation of the learning law or in the stability proof Full proof of the convergence of the fuzzy sliding base learning scheme Is given.

  • The development of digital technology and the Internet has brought about a great change in the content industry. In order to keep pace with these changes, the copyright law has undergone several revisions, and the concept of "digital sound transmission" was introduced in the 2006 revision. However, in the current law, digital audio transmission is problematic in that the criteria for distinguishing between broadcasting and transmission is abstract and unclear. This ambiguity makes it difficult to judge the legal status of new music webcasting service such as "Free Litsen". Although these services are positioned as digital audion transmission, they have created a new concept of pseudo transmission because of its similarity to the audio transmission in its convenience and utility. These problems stem from the imbalance of between the development of technology and the legal system, so the change of the legal system is inevitable. Thus, this study discusses US copyright law and related cases, and then suggests solutions for pseudo transmission problems. This study suggests legislative criteria for pseudo transmission problems and legislative measures that can reduce the actual damage to the music market.

Generalization of Vertical Plume Despersion in the concective Boundary Layer at Long Distances on Mesoscale (중거리에서 대류경계층 연직방향 plume 확산의 일반화)

  • In order to genralize the vertical dispersion of plume at long distances on mesoscale over complex terrain dispersion coefficients data have been obtained systematically according to lapsed time after release by using a composite turbulence water tank that simulates convective boundary layer. Dispersion experiments have been carried out for various combined conditions of thermal turbulence intensity mechanical turbulence intensity and plume release height at slightly to moderately unstable conditions. Results of tracer dispersion experiments conducted using water tank camera and image processing system have been converted into atmospheric dispersion data through the application of similarity law. The equation $\sigma$z/Zi=aX/(b+c X2)0.5 where $\sigma$2; vertical dispersion coefficient zi : mixing height X : dimen-sionaless downwind distance was confirmed to be an appropriate and general equation for expressing $\sigma$2 variation with turbulence intensity and plume release height, The value of "a" was found to be principally affected by mechanical turbulence intensity and that of "b" by mechanical turbulence intensity and release height. It was confirmed that the magnitude of "c" varies with release height. Results of water tank experiments on the relationship of $\sigma$2 vs downwind distance x have been compared with actual atmospheric dispersion data such as CONDORS data and Bowne's nomogram Operating conditions of a composite turbulence water tank for simulating the field turbulence situations of CONDORS experiments and Bowne's $\sigma$2(x) nomogram for suburban area have also been investigated in terms of water temperature difference between convection water tank and bottom plate heating tank grid plate stroke mixing water depth length scale and velocity scale. Moreover the effect of mechanical turbulence intensity on vertical dispersion has been discussed in the light of release height and downwind distance. height and downwind distance.
