Fabrication of Flexible Surface-enhanced Raman-Active Nanostructured Substrates Using Soft-Lithography

  • Over the recent years, surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has dramatically grown as a label-free detecting technique with the high level of selectivity and sensitivity. Conventional SERS-active nanostructured layers have been deposited or patterned on rigid substrates such as silicon wafers and glass slides. Such devices fabricated on a flexible platform may offer additional functionalities and potential applications. For example, flexible SERS-active substrates can be integrated into microfluidic diagnostic devices with round-shaped micro-channel, which has large surface area compared to the area of flat SERS-active substrates so that we may anticipate high sensitivity in a conformable device form. We demonstrate fabrication of flexible SERS-active nanostructured substrates based on soft-lithography for simple, low-cost processing. The SERS-active nanostructured substrates are fabricated using conventional Si fabrication process and inkjet printing methods. A Si mold is patterned by photolithography with an average height of 700 nm and an average pitch of 200 nm. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), a mixture of Sylgard 184 elastomer and curing agnet (wt/wt = 10:1), is poured onto the mold that is coated with trichlorosilane for separating the PDMS easily from the mold. Then, the nano-pattern is transferred to the thin PDMS substrates. The soft lithographic methods enable the SERS-active nanostructured substrates to be repeatedly replicated. Silver layer is physically deposited on the PDMS. Then, gold nanoparticle (AuNP) inks are applied on the nanostructured PDMS using inkjet printer (Dimatix DMP 2831) to deposit AuNPs on the substrates. The characteristics of SERS-active substrates are measured; topology is provided by atomic force microscope (AFM, Park Systems XE-100) and Raman spectra are collected by Raman spectroscopy (Horiba LabRAM ARAMIS Spectrometer). We anticipate that the results may open up various possibilities of applying flexible platform to highly sensitive Raman detection.

Anorthite 글라스 프릿이 첨가된 감광성 은 페이스트의 전기적 특성 및 부착력 특성 평가 (Effect of Anorthite Glass Frit on the Electrical and Adhesion Properties of Photosensitive Silver Paste)

  • 후막 광식각 기술을 이용하여 형성된 Ag 전극과 LTCC 기판 사이의 접착력을 향상시키기 위하여 무기 바인더로서 anorthite, diopside 및 MLS-62 glass frit을 첨가하여 감광성 Ag paste를 제조하였다. 소성 후의 glass pool effect를 감소시키기 위해 attrition mill을 통하여 미세 glass 분말을 준비하였다. Glass frit은 Ag powder의 5vol%~25vol%의 함량으로 첨가하여 감광성 Ag paste를 제조하였고 패턴 형성 후 $850^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 소결하였다. 전극과 기판 사이의 접착력은 micro-ball shear test 법으로 측정하였으며, Ag 전극 부착력은 glass frit의 함량 증가에 따라 증가하다가 감소하는 경향을 보이는데, 이는 과량의 glass frit 첨가로 인한 전극 내부에 액상 풀의 형성에 기인한 것으로 보여진다. Ag 전극의 면저항은 glass frit의 함량이 증가함에 따라 $0.13m{\Omega}{/\square}$에서 $2.06m{\Omega}{/\square}$까지 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 소성 전후의 전극 패턴의-수축율은 $100{\mu}m$의 선폭을 기준으로 glass frit의 첨가랑이 증가할수록 43.3%에서 35.0%로 감소하였으며, 그 결과 최소 선폭 $25{\mu}m$의 미세 전극 패턴의 형성이 가능하였다.

Antimicrobial Efficacy of the Disinfectant Solution Nanoxil® Against Fish Pathogenic Bacteria

  • Fish pathogenic bacteria are a considerable danger of farmed fish and a source of economic loss in the fish farming industry. In this study, $Nanoxil^{(R)}$ was compared to hydrogen peroxide and a silver colloid in terms of disinfection efficacy against E. tarda, V. anguillarum and S. iniae. A bactericidal efficacy test conducted by a broth dilution method was used to determine the lowest effective dilution of the disinfectant following exposure to test bacteria for 30 min at $4^{\circ}C$. $Nanoxil^{(R)}$ and test bacteria were diluted with distilled water (DW), hard water (HW) or an organic matter suspension (OM) according to the treatment condition. Under the OM condition, the bactericidal activity of $Nanoxil^{(R)}$ against E. tarda exhibited a lowered efficacy compared to that under the DW and HW conditions. $Nanoxil^{(R)}$ at 500 fold (dilutions on) under all of the conditions demonstrated a high bactericidal efficacy against S. iniae. As $Nanoxil^{(R)}$ possess bactericidal efficacy against fish pathogenic bacteria such as E. tarda, V. anguillarum and S. iniae, this disinfectant solution can be used to limit the spread of fish bacterial diseases.

Simulation of nanosilver migration from polystyrene nanocomposite into food simulants

  • Polystyrene granules were combined with nanosilver to form a nanocomposite film. One-side migration was conducted to test into three food simulants (3% acetic acid, 10% ethanol and 95% ethanol) at $40^{\circ}C$ temperature on different period of time (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 days). It was found that, among the simulants, the highest migration amount was obtained with 3% acetic acid, while the 95% ethanol revealed the least migration level. Diffusion coefficients of nanosilver particles into simulants were estimated by inverse simulation using experimental data of concentration variation in the simulants. The finite element method used to solve the mass transfer equation and the numerical results indicates the sameresponse with the experimental data. The numerical results confirmed that the highest diffusion coefficient for acetic acid 3% (1.82E-10 to $1.76E-9m^2\;s^{-1}$) and the lowest diffusion coefficient for ethanol 95% from 2 to 10 days were obtained, respectively. Also, results of diffusion coefficient - concentration relation showed, the diffusion coefficient had in direct correlation with time and concentration. The results indicated that, in the 3% acetic acid, due to the increasing of diffusion coefficient of silver nanoparticles, they are released faster and distributed uniformly.

저온 공정 PVP게이트 절연체를 이용한 고성능 플렉서블 유기박막 트랜지스터의 계면처리 효과 (Interface Treatment Effect of High Performance Flexible Organic Thin Film Transistor (OTFT) Using PVP Gate Dielectric in Low Temperature)

  • In this study, we fabricated the flexible pentacene TFTs with the polymer gate dielectric and contact printing method by using the silver nano particle ink as a source/drain material on plastic substrate. In this experiment, to lower the cross-linking temperature of the PVP gate dielectric, UV-Ozone treatment has been used and the process temperature is lowered to $90^{\circ}C$ and the surface is optimized by various treatment to improve device characteristics. We tried various surface treatments; $O_2$ Plasma, hexamethyl-disilazane (HMDS) and octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) treatment methods of gate dielectric/semiconductor interface, which reduces trap states such as -OH group and grain boundary in order to improve the OTFTs properties. The optimized OTFT shows the device performance with field effect mobility, on/off current ratio, and the sub-threshold slope were extracted as $0.63cm^2 V^{-1}s^{-1}$, $1.7{\times}10^{-6}$, and of 0.75 V/decade, respectively.

세라믹-금속 기반 LED 어레이 패키지의 저온동시소성시 휨발생 억제 연구 (Low Temperature Co-firing of Camber-free Ceramic-metal Based LED Array Package)

  • 고출력 LED 조명용 패키지를 제조함에 있어서 발열은 LED의 광출력과 수명에 매우 중요한 영향을 주는 인자로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 가로등용 고출력 LED 패키지를 개발함에 있어서 효과적인 방열을 하기 위하여 방열효과가 상대적으로 우수한 구조인 chip-on-a-heat sink 구조를 가지는 세라믹-메탈 기반의 패키지를 제조하였다. 열확산 기능을 하는 heat sink 기판소재는 알루미늄 합금을, LED 어레이 회로를 형성하는 절연막으로는 저온동시소성용 glass-ceramics을 사용하였다. 특히 열처리 시 가장 이슈가 되는 세라믹-금속 하이브리드 패키지 기판의 휨을 억제하기 위한 수단으로서, glass-ceramic 절연막을 부분 코팅함으로써 휨현상을 용이하게 줄일 수 있게 되었다. 또한, LED 패키지의 방열특성의 향상 즉 열저항도 기존의 MCPCB 패키지나 전면 코팅형 절연막 패키지에 비해 훨씬 낮아지는 효과를 얻었을 뿐 아니라, 세라믹 코팅소재의 절감효과도 볼 수 있게 되었다.

남성의 속옷 추구혜택에 따른 구매행동 (The Effect of Men's Underwear Benefits Sought on Underwear Purchasing Behavior)

  • This study was intended to present basic materials for the direction of product planning and marketing strategy to increase the market share of men's underwear. For this purpose, it attempted to classify the groups according to the benefit of pursuing men's underwear and analyze the differences in purchase behavior among the segmented groups. The specific purposes of the study were to investigate the purchase behavior of men's underwear, to segment the consumers into groups according to underwear benefits sought, to investigate the differences in purchase behavior among the groups, and to investigate the differences in demographics among the groups. The questionnaire was distributed to men aged the 20s to the 40s living in Seoul. A total of 297 questionnaires were used for the final analysis. As a result, the following findings were obtained. It was found that 84.8% of the respondents showed there was no favorite underwear brand. They showed the favorite color of translucent color, the favorite style of trunk and brief, the favorite post-processing of silver nano, deo processing, and the favorite material of charcoal. In purchasing men's underwear, the respondents showed a preference for simple image, and the discount store as the place of purchase. The results also showed that there were four groups of underwear benefits sought: sex appeal/individuality, comfort, practicality, and fashion/brand groups. In regard to the group differences, there were significant differences in underwear purchase motives, underwear preferences, store selection criteria, and demographics.

Controlling Botrytis elliptica Leaf Blight on Hybrid Lilies through the Application of Convergent Chemical X-ray Irradiation

  • X-ray irradiation with convergent chemicals such as nano-silver particles or sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) has been used to control leaf blight on cut lilies. The oriental hybrid lily cultivars Siberia, Le Reve, and Sorbonne were irradiated five times by 200 Gy of X-rays in 2014. In 2015, Siberia and Sorbonne were irradiated three times by 150 Gy of X-rays. After artificial infection with Botrytis elliptica on the leaves and petals of cut lilies, this study used convergent chemical X-ray irradiation of 200 Gy or 150 Gy. Leaf and petal blight was measured in terms of incidence and severity at 8 days after infection using total 552 cuttings. Results indicate that the treatments of X-ray irradiation and NaDCC in 2014 and 2015 slightly decreased the severity of petal blight on Siberia and Sorbonne. However, the results were not significant and severity did not decrease as NaDCC concentration increased. Vase-life was observed separately after X-ray irradiation of 270 cut lilies in 2014 and 108 cut lilies in 2015. Chlorophyll content was not affected by either 200 Gy or 150 Gy of X-rays. The number of days of fully opened flowers at Siberia of 150 Gy and Le Revu of 200 Gy increased by 1-2 days. In addition, the relative fresh weights of the X-rayed flowers were 10% drier than the non-irradiated controls. Overall, leaf blight control by X-ray was inferior to the control by gamma rays, and petal color was bleached in Sorbonne and Le Reve cvs. by 150 Gy of X-rays.

나노입자의 현황조사 및 처리방안 마련을 위한 문헌연구 (Review of Nanoparticles in Drinking Water: Risk Assessment and Treatment)

  • Nanotechnology is the applied science which develops new materials and systems sized within 1 to 100 nanometer, and improves their physical, chemical, and biological characteristics by manipulating on an atomic and molecular scale. This nanotechnology has been applied to wide spectrum of industries resulting in production of various nanoparticles. It is expected that more nanoparticles will be generated and enter to natural water bodies, imposing great threat to potable water resources. However their toxicity and treatment options have not been throughly investigated, despite the significant growth of nanotechnology-based industries. The objective of this study is to provide fundamental information for the management of nanoparticles in water supply systems through extensive literature survey. More specifically, two types of nanoparticles are selected to be a potential problem for drinking water treatment. They are carbon nanoparticles such as carbon nanotube and fullerene, and metal nanoparticles including silver, gold, silica and titanium oxide. In this study, basic characteristics and toxicity of these nanoparticles were first investigated systematically. Their monitoring techniques and treatment efficiencies in conventional water treatment plants were also studied to examine our capability to mitigate the risk associated with nanoparticles. This study suggests that the technologies monitoring nanopartilces need to be greatly improved in water supply systems, and more advanced water treatment processes should be adopted for better control of these nanoparticles.

유체를 이용하여 위상응답을 제어하기 위해 잉크젯 프린팅으로 구현한 미세유체채널 복합 좌·우향 전송선로 (Fluidically-Controlled Phase Tunable Line Using Inkjet-Printed Microfluidic Composite Right/Left Handed Transmission Line)

  • 본 논문은 미세유체채널에 채워진 유체를 이용하여 위상응답을 제어하는, 잉크젯 프린터로 인쇄된 미세유체채널 복합 좌 우향 전송선로(CRLH TL: Composite Right/Left Handed Transmission Line)를 제안한다. 제안된 CRLH TL은 종이 위에 은 나노입자 잉크를 이용하여 인쇄되었으며, Poly Methyl Methacrylate(PMMA)에 레이저 식각을 이용하여 제작된 미세유체채널은 잉크젯 프린터로 인쇄된 접착물질인 SU-8을 이용하여 CRLH TL 위에 부착되었다. 제안된 CRLH TL은 미세유체채널에 채워진 유체에 따라서 위상응답을 변화시킬 수 있으며, 미세유체채널에 각기 다른 유체가 흐를 때, 900 MHz에서 -10 dB 이하의 반사계수를 유지한 상태로 위상 지연, $0^{\circ}$ 위상, 위상 앞섬 특성을 모두 나타낼 수 있음을 확인하였다. 제안된 CRLH TL의 성능은 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정 결과를 통하여 성공적으로 증명되었다.
