  • In this paper, to make ultra-high strength SFRCC with the range of compressive strength 180MPa, it was investigated the constitute factors of ultra-high strength SFRCC influenced on the compressive strength. The experimental variables were water-cementitious ratio, replacement of silica fume, size and proportion of sand, type and replacement of filling powder, and using of steel fiber in ultra-high strength SFRCC. As a result, in water-binder ratio 0.18, we could make ultra-high strength SFRCC with compressive strength 180MPa through using of silica fume, quartz sand with below 0.5mm, filling powder and steel fiber.

  • The paper presents details of an investigation into the effect of sand content upon the strength and shrinkage of mortar. This strategy was to produces more durable strength mortar with less cement. Cement mortars containing $20\;wt.\;\%$ Class F fly ash, and/or $6\;wt.\;\%$ silica fume were prepared at a water/binder ratio of 0.45 and sand/binder ratios of 2.0, 2.5, 2.7, and 3.0. The increase in sand/binder ratio caused a decrease in the mortar flow. However, the sand/binder ratio did not affect the strength development. Drying shrinkage decreased with increasing the sand contents.

  • This study is to recognize the effect of silica-fume, fly-ash, and chemical proportion in mortar that have salt on the inside affect steel bar corrosion. water-binder ratio, 0.5, compounds, each of 10, 15, 20% by weight of cement, Nacl mixing weight, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0% by weight of binder, The speciment is sealed and cured for 28days, the corrosion area ratio and weight reduction ratio is measured after the accelerated corrosion test of 20 cycles. The conclusion shows that there is no suppression effect of steel bar corrosion of silica-fume, fly-ash, in case of having salt on the inside.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the chemical shrinkage and autogenous shrinkage of high strength cement paste and silica fume and fly ash and sand to cement ratio by the method of volumetric tests, and also investigate the autogenous shrinkage of high measurement method, and compare the results of volumetric test and linear length measurement test. A series of cement paste which have W/C ratio of 25%, 35%, 45% respectively were planed to study the effect of the W/C ratio to the shrinkages, and a series of cement paste which were replaced the cement by the silica fume and fly ash with 5%, 10%, 15% as the mass of cement respectively were planed to investigate the effects of poazolana to the shrinkages. A series of mortar which have a C/S ratio of 1:1, 1:1.5, 1:2 respectively were planed to investigate the shrinkage resistant effect of aggregate.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the durability performance of polymer modified cement composites for repair of concrete under combined aging conditions. The experimental procedure was divided into three parts. First, the replacement level of mineral admixtures in polymer modified cement composites were determined in an experimental study based on a Box Behnken design. Second, the flow value, compressive strength and chloride permeability test of sixteen types of mixtures were conducted. Test results show that the polymer modified cement composites were effected on the improvement of the compressive strength and permeability performance. Third, the effects on the replacement level of silica fume mixture was evaluated by the compressive strength, chloride permeability, chemical resistance and repeated freezing and thawing cycles test. They demonstrated that the polymer modified cement composites using mixture of silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag improved the durability performance.

  • Topics discussed in this paper are engineering design of artificial reefs, design considerations of compressive strength and pH, materials of silica fume concrete and volcanic stones for reef construction, and field monitoring of artificial reefs. Six artificial reefs were deployed offshore at Biyangdo in July 2006, and succession patterns on the reefs were investigated bimonthly from July 2006 to October 2007. The spore-bag method, which has been widely used in Korea for the attachment of seaweed on artificial reefs, was applied to the developed reefs using the kelp Ecklonia cava, which is the dominant species in Jeju, and recruitment and growth patterns were observed.

  • The construction industry, one of the biggest producers of greenhouse emissions, is under a lot of pressure as a result of growing worries about how climate change may affect local communities. Geopolymer concrete (GPC) has emerged as a feasible choice for construction materials as a result of the environmental issues connected to the manufacture of cement. The findings of this study contribute to the development of machine learning methods for estimating the properties of eco-friendly concrete, which might be used in lieu of traditional concrete to reduce CO2 emissions in the building industry. In the present work, the compressive strength (fc) of GPC is calculated using random forests regression (RFR) methodology where natural zeolite (NZ) and silica fume (SF) replace ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS). From the literature, a thorough set of experimental experiments on GPC samples were compiled, totaling 254 data rows. The considered RFR integrated with artificial hummingbird optimization (AHA), black widow optimization algorithm (BWOA), and chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA), abbreviated as ARFR, BRFR, and CRFR. The outcomes obtained for RFR models demonstrated satisfactory performance across all evaluation metrics in the prediction procedure. For R2 metric, the CRFR model gained 0.9988 and 0.9981 in the train and test data set higher than those for BRFR (0.9982 and 0.9969), followed by ARFR (0.9971 and 0.9956). Some other error and distribution metrics depicted a roughly 50% improvement for CRFR respect to ARFR.

  • This study examines the compressive strength, elastic modulus and splitting tensile strength of geopolymer concrete in order to evaluate its mechanical characteristics according to the admixing of fly ash and blast furnace slag. Moreover, identical tests are also conducted considering the amount of powder, the mixing ratio of alkali activator and the mixing ratio of silica fume for further comparative analysis considering various variables. The comparison with the formulae specified in Korean and overseas codes reveal that a mixing ratio of 18% is adequate for the alkali activator and that a replacement ratio of 5% by silica fume is recommended for silica fume. The elastic modulus of the geopolymer concrete appears to increase slightly with the increase of the compressive strength per variable and age and to be smaller than the values predicted by the formulae specified in Korean and overseas codes. In addition, the examination of the stress-strain curves shows that the geopolymer concrete exhibits ductile behavior compared to the conventional OPC. In view of the splitting tensile strength, high strength is observed for a powder content of $400kg/m^3$ and a replacement ratio of 18% by silica fume. The resulting ratio of the compressive strength to the splitting tensile strength is seen to range between 8.7 and 10.2%.
