  • In city, tracing of power transmission lines is difficult due to compound installation of overhead and underground lines, transposition, bad view caused by trees or big buildings. It is hard problem for electrical technician on site to trace power transformers or power lines to serve customers in 3 phase -4 wires power distribution systems. It is necessary that the correct and fast tracing method is required for load balancing among distribution lines. Old technology use to trace lines with high power impulse injection. Our proposed method uses to trace lines with very small power high frequency signal injection. Simulation models for 3-phase power transformers, 3-phase wire lines, and customer loads are described to investigate the transmission characteristics of high frequency power line carrier. Distribution lines have only a limited ability to carry higher frequencies. Typically power transformers in the distribution system prevent propagating the higher frequency carrier signal. The proposed method uses the limited propagation ability to identify the power transformer to serve customers. The system consists of a transmitter and a receiver with power-line communication module. Some experiments are conducted to verify the theoretical concepts in a big commercial building. Also some simulations are done to help and understand the concepts by using MATLAB Simulink simulator.

  • We propose portable equipment that monitors current and voltage of high-potential power transmission lines. In the equipment, a current and voltage sensor are attached to an insulator that supports a power transmission line: A clamped to the power line and the detected current signal is transmitted to the ground station by a wireless optical link using transmission line is detected by a high resistance element, zinc oxide (ZnO). That acts as a potential divider between the power line and ground. We make an experimental device for 66kV power line and demonstrate that it can monitor currents proposed equipment is small-sized, light, and inexpensive in comparison with the conventional CT (current transformer) and PT (potential transformer) since it does not require high potential insulators and magnetic cores, further, the equipment is easily installed owing to its small size and its simple structure.

  • A line profile synthesis method is presented that minimizes the nearest-neighbor crosstalk peak level for high-speed pulse transmission in multi-coupled microstrip signal buses. We adopted the optimization technique for the reflected wave control on bus lines resulting in increasing the average spacing between strip conductors, since in a parallel-conductor bus the crosstalk energy is concentrated at the nearest neighbors of the driven line. The generalized S-matrix technique is applied for the input and output waveform prediction, and crosstalk characteristics of various nonuniform lines synthesized for increasing the average spacing are analyzed by comparing each other. Simulation results demonstrate that the Chebyshev taper with dips is adequate to significantly minimize the crosstalk peak level under the satisfactory waveform integrity since the profile is oriented to evenly reflect significant pulse spectra within the frequency range of pulse.

  • In this work, a fishbone-type transmission line employing a comb-type ground plane (FTLCGP) was fabricated on polyethersulfone (PES) substrate, and its RF characteristics were thoroughly investigated. According to the results, it was found that the FTLCGP on PES showed periodic capacitance values much higher than other types of transmission lines due to a coupling capacitance between the signal line and ground, which resulted in a reduction of wavelength and line width. Using the theoretical analysis, we also extracted the bandwidth characteristic of the FTLCGP on PES. According to the result, the FTLCGP structure showed a cut-off frequency of 280 GHz.

  • During the past decade, many electrical transmission tower structures have failed during downburst events. This study is a part of a research program aimed to understand the behaviour of transmission lines under such localized wind events. The present study focuses on the assessment of the dynamic behaviour of the line conductors under downburst loading. A non-linear numerical model, accounting for large deformations and the effect of pretension loading, is developed and used to predict the natural frequencies and mode shapes of conductors at various loading stages. A turbulence signal is extracted from a set of full-scale data. It is added to the mean component of the downburst wind field previously evaluated from a CFD analysis. Dynamic analysis is performed using various downburst configurations. The study reveals that the response is affected by the background component, while the resonant component turns to be negligible due large aerodynamic damping of the conductors.

  • In this paper, the simulation methods using transmission lines are studied and realized, which are necessary in design and analysis of hydraulic control systems. The basic idea of this method is that system components are separated by transmission line element for simulation. The PI-controller can keep inductance level as low as desired. It can also handle nonlinearities and discontinuities without flag signal when restarting integration. Parallel hydraulic circuits are simulated using parallel processing algorithm. To shoe that using variable timestep size in each subsystem, simulation time can be reduced. Performance of the simulation results is compared with that of Runge Kutta method.

  • The pad pitch of modern radio frequency integrated circuits is in the order of few tens of micrometers. Connecting a large number of high-speed I/Os to the outside world with good signal fidelity at low cost is an extremely challenging task. To cope with this requirement, we need reflection-free transmission lines from an on-chip pad to on-board SMA connectors. Such a transmission line is very hard to design due to the difference in on-chip and on-board feature size and the requirement for extremely large bandwidth. In this paper, we propose the use of narrow tracks close to chip and wide tracks away from the chip. This narrow-to-wide transition in width results in impedance discontinuity. A step change in substrate thickness is utilized to cancel the effect of the width discontinuity, thus achieving a reflection-free microstrip. To verify the concept, several microstrips were designed on multilayer FR4 PCB without any additional manufacturing steps. The TDR measurements reveal that the impedance variation is less than 3 ${\Omega}$ for a 50 ${\Omega}$ microstrip and S11 better than -9 dB for the frequency range 1 GHz to 6 GHz when the width changes from 165 ${\mu}m$ to 940 ${\mu}m$, and substrate thickness changes from 100 ${\mu}m$ to 500 ${\mu}m$.

  • This paper presents a new numerical algorithm suitable for defining recloser reclaims time and blocking automatic reclosing during permanent faults on overhead lines. It is based on terminal voltage input data processing. The decision if it is safe or not to reclose is determined from the voltage signal of faulted and tripped line phase using Total Harmonic Distortion factor calculated by Discrete Fourier Transform. The algorithm was successfully tested using signals recorded on the real power system. The tests demonstrate the ability of presented algorithm to determine the secondary arc extinction time and to block unsuccessful automatic reclosing of HV lines with permanent fault.

  • This paper deals with a problem of detecting the inner corrosion of the ACSR(Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) power lines using a detector which consists of an ECT(Eddy Current Test) sensor, a constant current service, a signal processing unit, and a RF transmitter/receiver unit. The detector runs on the ACSR transmission line and inspects the corrosion of the conductor using the technic of the nondestructive eddy current test. The experimental result shows this detector can efficiently find the zinc loss in ACSR power lines.
